You can get all of that on your android phone with Google translate and Google Lens to view writing for free. I doubt many will buy this at that price and have more to carry around. But thanks for the video👍
@@keithy507 It uses Bing as a translator which is not as good as google. It even got the translation of "do you have a farm?" wrong in the video. It asked in Thai "do you have some?"
Great video by both of you. The translator is something that I will purchase since my Thai language is very poor. My wife is Thai and speaks very good English but many of her friends that we socialize with do not speak English very well for the most part. Now I can have conversations when we go to friend's houses for dinners. It is awkward sitting there unable to join in unless my wife translates everything for me which slows down the conversation for the Thais. I will join the new channel that you have launched and thanks to both of you for helping all of us. Nat just keeps getting cuter every year and JC, you are aging very well.
A great idea, but it should be an app on your phone, not a hardware device. That company lacks the correct vision for their technology. Everyone already has a smartphone in their pocket no need to carry another hardware device.
That translator is just what I need! Like you know, not all taxi drivers speak or understand English that well. Special when your outside the tourist zones. Even around here in Pathum Thani witch is just outside of Bangkok. It's sometimes a struggle to give the driver directions how to get to our village and street. This thing could be the answer for something like that.
Interesting device. I have been considering a device like this as there are a few available. Off-line ability is quite important in many cases here in the Philippines with internet a bit sketchy in some places. I had planned to move to Thailand 8 years ago and followed your channel but the language issue was the deciding factor in choosing the Philippines. Hope to visit this year though.
Tried translators on the phone-video and in person-limited realistic ability-becomes old quickly-hard to use in a noisy situation-my solution was to have my Thai gf quit her job and learn English online!
Hmmm, maybe device would also be useful when learning to speak Thai? You could speak Thai to the device and see how the translation goes? You could also speak English (or whatever) and listen to the resulting Thai as part of studying. But, yes, the resulting Thai would best be spoken slowly for learning.
The smog is so thick in Thailand currently that I can't leave my condo without putting my health at risk. This includes the entire country with the exception of the deep south. You can all check this for yourselves. Fortunately, I return to the states in one week. So much for a Thailand retirement. You can keep your translator.
Actually the bad air, except Bangkok, is located north of the Nakan Sawan area. And most of Issan isn't affected as bad as the northern region. But as EVERYTHING in life, it's a personal choice to determine what's MOST important in your existence.... For me personally, it's the intangibles that have been lost in the West that are most important for me to experience in my daily life.
Just bought a Translation device cheap only works with the mobile and not very good, better lern as much Thai as possible it's not that hard to understand if the person speaks slowly and not Issan ;-) take care
Thanks JC ,As I said previously I was 50% decided , in the end I purchased from amazon uk due tomorrow , I didn't buy direct from Time kettle because of the import duties , Paid £299
I saw these about a month ago on another site and after the demo's I decided to buy one. I'm in the UK and there was no additional import duties and ordered this on a Sunday and it was delivered by Thursday. I ordered white ear buds with the package, but they sent out black... contacted them and it was sorted out within a day, black ones sent back and replacements received wihin a week.
I started watching your channel in 2013, with the help of your videos I came to Thailand in 2014. I've lived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for over two years then I went to Changsha China for a year and I've been living here in Phuket for five years. I'm much happier here in Asia than I was in California.
Just a friendly heads-up... The SE Asia Expat website link in the description is "broken". Between Asia and Expat, there is an underscore, which should be a hyphen.
I haven't watched one of your videos for awhile now and I am so impressed by Nat's English and how she appears so confident! As a hater of evil Facebook I am appreciative and excited for your new site. I hope it takes off so I can feel connected to others living in SE Asia. Stay Well, Colleen in Cambodia
