Tarantulas (TransMetal): He uses the dots on his shoulder pauldrons both for bullets AND missiles launchers multiple times through out Season 2 and Season 3.
Rampage has got to be the weirdest character in Beast Wars. His role as the Predicons’ uncontrollable berserker was fun and his showcase episode was memorable. Then Transmutate implies there’s something more to him only for the show to never touch on that again. And finally, the way his final scene is framed is seems like he let himself die. Rampage had all of the pieces they needed to make him an interesting character and they just never fully assembled them for some reason.
I’m split on the forms. The gleaming purple metal of original Transmetal Megatron offset by the bronze shell of the remainder of his T-Rex beast form really pops, but his Transmetal 2 dragon form was also something quite impressive to behold.
Megatron (TransMetal): His tail cannon is not his only weapon. He can also use the serrated claw at the end of it as a seperate melee weapon - although he tends to use it out of combat more than in it. And his t-rex arms also make for shoulders guns which he uses at least twice maybe thrice.
Trans-mutate: NOT a Predacon - not only was it (she) a Maximal protoform but it (she) didn't like fighting and violence and just kind of want to zen out with everybody and everything. Just had a toddler-like temper when things didn't go its (her) way. Side note: the reason Trans-mutate is referred to as a "she" is because she was voiced by Susan Blu - the original voice actress would did the OG Arcee.
I am aware, Transmuate was voiced by Susan Blu, but women play male characters in animation all the time. In the show it's never stated what Transmutate was. And I put Transmuate on the Predicons, right after Rampage, because he was the character it was closest to, and the Predacons were the faction they were most likely to join. The Maximals just wanted to put them offline because it would have been more convenient to them, but if Transmutate killed Maximals the Predacons made it clear they'd be fully willing to keep them on as a member.
Rampage: Actually had more weaponry as well. He actually had TWO cannons, a medium-sized one he could wield with one hand and a large one that he had to use both hands to operate. He also had a rifle that he used once in the thrid season (and also came with the original toy).
Couple thoughts. Tarantulas: fired from his shoulders more than once, pay attention. Quickstrike: he's a better cowboy than Wildwheel. Transmutate: wasn't actually a Predacon, never assumed the activation code unlike Silverbolt. Dinobot II: he pummeled Depth Charge pretty effortlessly. TM2 Megs: Inferno didn't kill Tarantulas, just scorched him and he survived Megatron's fire breath because TM durability.
I mean I tried rewatching probably close to 15 episodes to make this video, but I never saw him do this. Transmutate, spent most of it's time with Rampage, and they had to go somewhere. I watched every episode with Dinobot 2, at no point did he pummel Depthcharge. No. Inferno is in fact stated to have killed Tarantulas. He only came back because he downloaded him self into Blackarchnia's mind and then she was able to restore his body.
When I first saw Rampage in the show, I thought for sure he would turn good, magically die, or have a significant decrease in power. Because the Maximals already had way too many problems, and there's no way such a horrifying thing could maintain that terrifying and still have a thirst for blood in order for the show to continue. But somehow he stays as much of a threat while being controlled by Megatron in a way that makes sense, and still the Maximals still win. The fact that the writers and animators could pull that off was very impressive.
A dicent end to a series. And besides that, a bit more accurate examinetion of characters from last video. All tho I think you forgot one thing. Like Rattrap small shield, this was used more or less once, but still counts imo. The thing I'm talking about are Meg's shoulder guns made of his dino hands. I don't remember when they showed up, but I remember them non the less.
Beats wars was awesome. It was the first transformers show that actually made me feel something since the 86 movie. I’m a 2000s kid, but I stumbled across it on Netflix one day and couldn’t turn it off.
Another headcanon I have is that waspinator is actually cursed. Cursed to be the target of all the universes bad luck, while never being able to put out of his misery
I did rewatch about 15 episodes of the show to make this video, and he never used those in any of those, so I did forget, but they also were just about never used.
Dinobot (Clone): Pretty spot on with that one - however it's kind weird how you fixated on the Blackarachnia fight when he also has a pretty significant fight with the TransMetal 2 version of Cheetor as well.
I rewatched about 15 episodes of the show to to make this list, including every episode after he was introduced, and the reason I focused on the Blackarachnia fight, is because she is the far FAR better barometer for his abilities. TM2 Cheetor is literally worse than Blackarachnia in all ways except for strength. So that would also make him worse than Dinobot 2 in all ways. How am I supposed to figure out his stats from seeing him beat on someone who's not his equal in any way.
My brother was around to see Beast Wars as it was airing, but not consistently. Whenever he managed to catch an episode, it was part of a two-parter, which is always awkward.
Ravage Weaponry 5 maybe 6: big guns, invisiblity, and I think he might have laser eyes Skill 7: one of the best shots, able to shoot all the weapons out of the maximals hands without even trying; not to mention his expirence in the war; flying his ship also has to count for something to Strength 3: not really show that well, but I’m assuming he’s pretty weak Tactics 8: he’s a spy, can set up a hostage negotiation, knows the value of having a man on the inside, and can easily sneak in and out of somewhere Do you think these stats are accurate
Do they have different strength levels in each mode. Blackarnia can swing rampage around in beast mode, but can’t pry herself out of Optimus’s hand in robot mode, and whenever we see waspinator carry something it’s in beast mode, same with most characters towing something, and rattrap can carry Dinobot in his transmetal form
I mean no matter what Optimus would be stronger, and it could be they aren't necessarily stronger, but in bug mode with 6 legs she might have more torque.
I think the transmetals are fireproof, sicne tarantulas is also thrown into lava and lived and so did optimal Optimus, this could explain why inferno seamed to get less threatening every season
Tarantulas didn't get his "crossbow" back to shot a web, he used a blue pistol. He used the machine guns in his pauldrons twice, once against Silverbolt and once against the Vok, and he's also shown the be able to shoot missiles from them and in "Cutting Edge," he shoots missiles from his spider legs while in vehicle-mode. He also has the cybervenom arrowgun he uses on Optimal Optimus and the laser rifle he uses in "Other Visits." And I doubt he lost his web-slinging ability because he got on top of the Vok's battle station somehow. He also didn't loose his spider-fangs, they're on the backs of what become his robot feet and clearly visible in beast-mode. What do you think he was going to feed on that gazelle with? I agree on Quickstrike mostly, but I think him quick-drawing Depthcharge and putting him in stasis-lock with one shot deserves some recognition. Finally rampage; his missile-launcher didn't destroy the whole mountain, just the cap, which is still impressive and raw energon--which is shown many times to be volatile and dangerous--is what's needed to kill him. Megatron's scalpel was likely made of refined energon and he would have used surgical precision when splitting Rampage's spark, which may have been what made it vulnerable to that raw energon in the first place.
Rampages demise is well set up, first of all ramages speak based on starscream’s Whcih was ejected with raw energon, two as you said energon allowed megatron to cut into his spark in the first place, as for why that didn’t kill him, he used a paper thin peice with no specified power level, deapth charge got probably the last of the super unstable energon that can kill transformers in seconds, and used a shard larger than the spark.
I think it's a comprehensible leap to say it works like that, but it was never established previously, and if it did work, why didn't they do that on Cybertron, rather than plan on dumping him in a black hole?
Actually rampage and debcharge survived beast wars. Debcharge survived because of rampage spark got into his body and now both shear the body, so yeah. And it in collectors club comics , so it's official.
Do ya'll ever wonder if a unified Cybertron could defeat Unicron? The Dinobots kicked big holes into his butt, but he didn't really react to anything except a nuclear bomb going off in his pancreas. I guess the Quinteson ship hitting him in the eye made him react, but eyeballs are sensitive. Could the Cybertronians, with whatever they have other than the Matrix, have won the fight against Unicron?
I mean a disunified Cybertron did. I think he was only so successful because he surprised them, though how they didn't notice him chowing on their moons is anyones guess.
Can’t wait for the roasts, your gonna kick quick strikes keister, I’ll star, he’s the only one I can think of that has more useful hands in beast mode, and he’s a scorpion, snake hybrid
First tm megatron did use his shoulder moundted rex fingers as guns, probably once i dont remember, but he did, so... No, his tail gun is NOT his only weapon, and that itself at least had more than one firing mode so i would give him that at least
In my defense I re-watched like 15 episodes of the show to refresh my self on these abilities, and they were never used in any of those. What would be the point of the other Firing modes though? Kill, Kill Slightly more hard?
@@PerspectiveEnd i mean, megatorn has used some fast firing from the tail and some charged ones, and to be completely honest might just be the animation speed and nothing more, and in the end, it surely hasnt made that much of a difference; i think the transmetal upgrade was more for the body to resist energon and hasbro to sell toys more than "upgrading" them to be more combat effective, at least it DID change how they moved and traveled through the battlefield for hat is worth
Tarantulas really is the guy who has the best look armour set equipped yet does the bad in the game, the transart figure recently released is very nice nailed the look. Another favourite predacon of mine rampage was very pleasing in the show like yea he’s a powerhouse but not the stereotypical dumb one he’s got brains and uses it well, he does need a new figure 3P or hasbro either way big crab needs love
I personally think that the thing that killed Rampage was not the enegon crystal, but actually it's contact with his spark created some sort of short circuit that made the other crystals in the area explode and that's what killed him, basically a nuke-sized explosion, and thats why the maximals couldn't kill him back on Cybertron, such a big explosion would just draw attention and investigations about that caused it, and it would lead to the discovery of protoform X Maybe the reason why such explosion didn't happen when Megatron cut his spark with the knife is because most energon crystal had already exploded on land
Man, tarantulas got done dirty. Kindda good a showcase of his intelligence that he probably modified his body to get his old gear back. T1 megatron Is still the best transmetal design.
I think Transmetal's 2 Megatron deserves more skill. As you said he beated Optimal Optimus the first time they fought. The second time he clearly got the upper hand. He got G1 Megatron's fighting skills when getting his spark. The only one who could beat him was Tiger hawk with his Super Powers. That is a lot to say. In regards of his strength, he threw Optimal away like he was nothing with just his tail.
Quickstrike does some skills and tatics in tangled web, he blocks paths by causing cave ins, and can dodge things easily but it was still early so maybe they wanted to make him look decently cool
That is one way to interpret it yes. On other way to interpret it is he fights badly because he knows he can't lose. Any victory against him is only a setback since you can't die so he doesn't have a desire to win quickly or effectively.
But then I'd have to think really hard about Beast Machines, and I don't wanna. As for the UT, I'd need to rewatch that whole show, since it's been about 20 years since the last time.
you have no shortage of shows (or comics for that matter) to pick from evn if you don't wanna do either of the ones i suggested, assuming of course you want to do more of these to begin with@@PerspectiveEnd
Watching these they should of gave the Transmetals more to really show they were upgraded. More weapons or just higher strength would of helped. I do like that Transmetal 2 does seem to be an actual upgrade tho
Surprised you didn´t deduct points from Quickstrike from the fact that he doesn´t have actual hands. He has the cobra head and the scorpion spindly long legs for hands. Opening a doorknob is for him just slightly easier than from the Vehicons from Beast Machines.
I dont really like the transmetal designs, especially primals, both of cheetor's, blackarachnia, and megatrons first, it took the entirety of the second season for me to finally warm up to it, but by then, they change it, but atleast optimus and megatrons 2nd are an upgrade, also will you do beast wars roasts part 2 this month, maybe as the last video of the month?
Honestly, even if Megatron is better at tactics than Optimus, Primal won the BW, cause Megatron had every single psychopath of the show on his side, plus 90% of all his troops wanted to kill him
I think Transmetal 2 Megatrons Ice + Fire to be broken af. Ik it was hardly used but given time the amount of uses that could have like making ice constructs or using mist and boiling water mid combat
Depth Charge, he has FAAAR better long range weapons, and was strong enough to Fight Rampage. Who Dinobot defeated once with the element of surprise, but could not take one on one.
Would an amphibious tank be a good non beast alt mode for ramage to have. And is it properly shown he’s industructible, what is the best example of his power in your opinion
Question of the comments did you ever play the beast wars transmedal PS2 I think it was on PS2 anyway apparently in that game they had designs for transmedals fall, rhinox and waspinator
And it's had to judge them because the enemies are all mooks. And you never really get a sense for anyone's abilities outside of single aspects. Like Ratrap ONLY has tactics any more, and Cheetor somehow only gets skill, where Primal only really has weaponry.
I am on holidays atm and I was able to find a POTP Dreadwind and Darkwing (Darkwing was incomplete missing the prime armor and Dreadwing had loose wings) as well as a Titans Return Krok missing his front claws for only $50 AUD (About 31.50 USD). Now because of the POTP figures, I really want to get a full POTP combiner. Just need an Inferno, Jazz and Wreck Gar to go with Darkwing and Dreadwind. I also plan to buy a bunch of prime masters because the combiner needs their bling.
The issue with dreadwind having loose wings seems quite common, i've got it and his right arm just dissapeared and the wings are to floppy for the alt mode to look good, makes a good arm though, i wish you luck in making the combiner.
A combiner idea I have for the POTP jets is using starscream as a torso, dreadwind/dark wing as legs, and making custom deluxe skywarp/Thundercracker as arms to have a seeker combiner
That's an interesting question. I think Dinobot might be grossed out by the idea of killing Transmutate for not being like them. And I think Depthcharge probably wouldn't give a crap.
since you're still in that month, I kinda want to dare you to do a Beast Machines Powerscale then again it's Beast Machines, half of the cast is nerfed to make the stakes look more dire.
They'd probably hate each other. Both are loners who don't like others, and don't have a tolerance for disrespect. While Dinobot likes Verbal Sparing, Depthcharge is kind of more a "Fuck you go away" kind of guy, rather than someone who Trades Barbs.
Tfp starscream Weaponry: 7 he has wrist rockets and wrist blasters, both do decent damage Skill: 6 he seams ok at that but i can’t think of a great example Strength: 5 he is freaking scrawny but he can punch a whole through an autobots hide with minimal effort Tactics: either 8 or 9, he can fly, is a great shot, can follow and give orders well, sets up abuses, and knows the value of of a tactical retreat
@PerspectiveEnd idk if you would consider it Canon, but there was a Transmetals fighting game that had Rhinox and Waspinator in their transmetal bodies, and we see what they would've fought like. There is potential scaling there.
Yeah, I too wish we could have seen him continue on. It's always sad to see a character no longer around. No more interactions with them and other characters.
@@PerspectiveEnd Terrorsaur was one of my favs from season 1, really wished he got the chance to take Waspinator's place in the S2 predacon roster like he was always meant to do. Would've spared Waspinator from torment and give the Predacons a very competent flier.
I'd have to think about Beast Machines though, and I don't wanna. Also I wanted to do that, but I've got SO much to cover this month I don't know what I'll do.
you know the saying "a hero is only as good as their villain" well for depth charge and rampage, I think that's the exception as rampage is a far better character then depth charge like yeah rampage is obviously a monster but he's an entertaining monster like the joker, they do some truly horrible things but they're at least fun villains making them more of a love to hate which to me is the best kind of villain
@@PerspectiveEnd true episodes like transmutate do a lot to flesh him out it's just when he is more of a simple, crazed monster, he's very entertaining as the crazed monster
@@PerspectiveEnd also minor correction but tarantulus did use the mini gun shoulder guards in episode 48 so it wasn't a one off thing, rattrap also used his demo charges there just wanted to mention that
In Best Wars it's kind of a toss up. Some melee weapons are about as powerful as the ranged stuff, but as a general rule, yeah Ranged weapons tend to be stronger.
Quickstrike: NOT a TransMetal - although he does have a weird peudo-like TransMetal-esque skin - presumably to make his look more different from Scorponok.
Is beast wars not just as fluctuating as prime, that’s just something every show does bc either drama or bc their story dictates it. I’m sure prime is a step up in its dramatization than others, but I assumed all these were also average feats. Not a dig or trying to force you to do prime, just curious
Prime has a VERY VERY bad problem with consistency. It like the WFC Trillogy suffers from Plot Weapons. What ever they want to do for drama, they just do with or without Justification.
How would rampage work in shattered glass, not sure the immortal expirment works for a good guy, and what about deapth charge how would he work And why am I not asking you this on the actual shattered glass beast wars characters you reviewed
It could be very funny to have him be the exact opposite. Where he's not immortal, but instead super brittle. Depthcharge might want him dead for convincing his friends to defect.
There's really not much you can do with Ravage. He's not in the show enough for us to get some longer term data on him. He seems to be a good shot, and Invisibility is a Strong power. But we have basically no idea what the rest of his stats are.
