Better than dumping 5 quarts of engine oil into the engine .... with no drain plug! Been there, done that, but only once, HAHAHA! Got just shy of 4k trouble-free miles on the new transmission so far. Been on several trips around New England with the Heavy Hauler and my flatbed trailer. Took a 12 hour trip to PA and back for 4k lbs. of metal roofing for a buddy's company, then hauled a few 3,600 - 4k lb. Euro crossovers all over the place. Every time I go out, the way this transmission works just makes me smile. BEST EVER, and I've been driving for 3 decades and one year. I've driven stock, and I've driven "built to the hilt" - nothing works as good as my Heavy Hauler, and that's a fact. Getting prepped for a trip to Wauchula FL from here in central MA in a week, towing my enclosed trailer. Going down there for paramotor trike training, using my own equipment. Going to be a blast! I have no doubt the transmission is up to the task - it's the engine, transfer case, and electrical system I worry about (I already rebuilt the rear differential). Say a prayer that I make it, LOL! :D
Great video, My son and I Installed rebuilt trans yesterday. I’m gonna be filling my 700r4 this morning and i appreciate the video being available. Gives me more confidence. I plan to have it on the road this evening if all goes well. Nothing fancy just a 89 suburban Silverado half ton for me and my teenage sons to take camping and fishing. We have bonded more over this old Burban than my newer truck could ever offer. Fix something up with your kids it helps fix relationships too. 🙏 thanks for the info!
hi, im just searching if i need to pre-fill my converter and this video came along... i have to say thanks!! it clears many of my doubts and gives me confidence to finish, and fill, my just rebuild powerglide 1961 iron cast, 2 speed. i hope this tutorial works on that dinosaur too!! im just about to do it tomorrow, if everything works fine... i´ll tell you how it gets and thanks again! saludos from santiago de chile southamerica.
Somebody buy this man a beer and get him to reveal all his secrets 🤣. In all seriousness though, I enjoy these videos. I've built some stout 60e transmissions, however I want that Rossler brake for my current build. They show out of stock on thier website.
If it meets the min dex merc 3 requirements then should be just fine. Tbh most of my customers use the anti foaming john deer hyguard with a splash of atf for color
Thanks for the information dude, have been a little confused on the fluid quantity of my 2002 trailblazer ext. Ive changed it twice now and the first time only had 4.5 quarts come out, so thats the exact amount i put back in. Any idea how much should be in a 2002 Chevy trailblazer with a deep pan? Thanks for your time in advance.
Question about the Lock-up circuit: approximately how much fluid will it pull when the transmission goes into lock up? We don’t really have a reasonable way to get the transmission into lock up without driving it but don’t want to burn the transmission up if it’s going to pull a ton of fluid.
Yo Mo, I know you Know and that is why I'm here... I have a 1986 listed as a 1987 Chevy G 30 platform and mounted on it is a Winnebabo minnie winnie 21' and "MO" is fine, had the TB400 rebuilt and soon will mount it, your susjection only, what fluid would you run in It? Dude I know the legality's, just want to get back cruising, Thanks...
Because they are not available to the public yet. I do not have a timeline and im working on it when i can. Jist making sure we can handle the demand. For now they are exclusive to our transmissions
Hey Ryan, quick question. How does one get the gasket off my 700r4 valve body....It almost looks like its glued on and is only coming off in tiny pieces.. Thanks!
How would you recommend i do the initial “break in” of the trans (running through all the gears and lockup) since i have a new motor as well and that needs to be broken in immediately?
This video is exactly how you break in any auto trans. Fill properly, run through all the gears and lockup, let it sit overnight to bleed hydraulics, and service it fluid and filter after 500miles or 5 passes then a more normal yearly service every year. Rewatch, all the information is there. Driving an auto a certain way hard or soft has nothing to do with breaking it in.
I think i worded it wrong and thats my fault. What i was trying to say is, i have to break in my camshaft on first start up and i was curious if i should wait until after the camshaft break in period is done to go through all the gears or should i do that as soon as i start it up. If you mentioned something about this in the video and i missed i do apologize.
So what does "hot full" mean? Mine is at the top of the hot full mark when warmed up and after driving, but when towing my pontoon on a warm day for 20 miles I'm 1 pint over the mark. So how hot is hot and how full is full?
Hot full is full at Operating temp and that varies per setup. My particular trans runs at 140 hot. Most oem setups run 190 to 200. You will have to use your judgement. If its going over hot full when at operating temp, you have overfilled it.
Hello I just finished my 1950 chevy truck swap to 6.0 L LS2 with 4L80Eand PSI harness today was my first start for the truck and in the first test drive, it moved smoothly from 1st 2nd 3rd gear then I parked the truck to work on the tail light.then I tried to change the truck's place to park it inside the garage I noticed that the gear is not shifting its stuck on the 1st gear. its move from P_R_N_D smooth I checked the oil and it was fine no leakingchecked the solenoid it was plugged correctlyand idea what's going on?by the way, I didn't tune the truck yet is it from tuning? do its need tunning?engine and transmission? or it could from something else help pls - and idea whats going on >?
Hi thx for the vid, subbed. We rebuilt a trans, the old guy told me to add 4 qts then fire it up and go thru the gears turn it off and add 4 more and go from there. We never prefilled the t.c. either. Could this have done damage
@@PerformaBuiltTransmissions it was the same tc that was in it so should have had some fluid still. The reverse is acting up so gonna look it it again. Not very happy with the castrol universal atf and cvt fluid. Has the spec but gonna change it out
Cool. I've change my truck a few times. Hey how did u get around the steering box on a pre 1954 truck with a 8 cylinder. I've always known that to be in the way.. We used to put a mustang 2 front end under.
Alot of beer.... jokes aside i had to make custom bisquit mounts to move the motor over an inch to the pass side. It doesnt affect drivability and youd never know. I do have a mustang 2 conversion to install but havent gotten the opportunity. As far as i know im one of the rare few that has a 454 with the stock steering box. Hugger headers helped and its still very tight
Anyone who thinks ASE is anything just needs to take a look at their exams. Most backyard mechanics could easily pass them. It is just a label they can charge money for, like so many other certifications.
