A short video explaining how to find and use the 'Double Slip' switch option that was introduced in the March 2017 update for Transport Fever. This feature also works in exactly the same way for Transport Fever 2.
* Apologies for consistently getting the name of the feature wrong. It is Double SLIP - NOT split, NOT switch! And for saying "Fine and Dandy" so often! :)

over 1300 hours of this game and was unaware of this feature playing in 2019 !!! ... looks like my current game is set for a lot of reorganising ... cheers :)

Oh my! Yeah, so easy to miss these 'little' updates to a game. There have been some significant changes to how routes change automatically but if you're careful this small change can make routing so much more efficient. Have fun! :)

Many thanks...... as a complete beginner I'm still struggling to get a train from A - B without fatalities or insolvency but I had considered this problem. I'll file it for future reference ( around 2020 at the curret rate of progress :)

Thank you, happy that I'm able to help. I too struggled to understand the mechanics when I started, back with Train Fever, and nearly gave up entirely but watching some, more successful, Lets Players I eventually managed to understand enough to at least not go bankrupt! If I recall correctly, the original Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon did allow you to create bad routes on which trains could collide or even crash off poorly maintained bridges ... I miss those possibilities! :)

Thank you for commenting, yep, these switches are great for busy stations but it does mean you have to pay extra attention to signals. :)

I've used the double switch and signals to route fast trains into the inner track and slow or stopping trains to the outer track.

This is gold fam! I was wondering how to do this! If you have a double slip and the comes the other way like from 4 and to 2 but in the other direction.... do you need a 2nd double slip switch or will this one still be enough?

Thank you. 😊 It should be easy enough to try out but, in general, yes. What works in one direction should work in the other ... one-way signals permitting of course! That said, sometimes it can be more efficient to have multiple switches if you have a lot of lines and/or trains converging on a single point.

I had to start over my game bcz I made a small mistake bcz of the old system without slip and it was my main line who got completly blocked (plus didn't got any space to lay a new track to solve it)

Thanks for watching! Switches and signals, easy to get wrong and cause chaos! There are some guides on Steam that try to help, I think the most important rule is to make sure there is no slope AT ALL on the track where you are building a switch, either a single or double slip.

I didnt had time to answer yesterday, but I checked and it was Bcz of the slope. I had to make a switch to the Left and a bit furthe to the right. (When you drive out the station). But there was a signal there, I didnt know that, but that blocked everything. Also, the train in the station had to Go to another switch to the righ. But that was blocked too since it was the cargo line to my main city. But If I could do the slip, It didn’t block my whole netwerk 😅. But Thx, your doing very Well!

The reason why the game prefers the simple crossovers is the low speed allowed on diverging double slips.

Hi, the junction will only light up and give you the option to select 'Double Slip' if it is possible to do. If it doesn't then the angles between the tracks are wrong, remove the crossing track and do it again but try to reduce the angle between the tracks - usually just making the crossing track longer will work. Good luck!
