TRAPS! 😈 Fallout 4 No Mods Shop Class 

I wish you had more subscribers. I really appreciate the "no mods shop-class", it's helped me quite a bit for settlement building. I tried making a deathclaw pit trap at spectacle island. I made this stadium where raiders gunners and mutants would fight in this thunderdome like fort. It was kinda like the Rancor pit in star wars. Basically this giant fort that was raised 4 cement blocks. So I put the trap door floors in an area and under i have deathclaw traps in the underground pen. Under the fort. It worked except deathclaws won't stay in the underground pen. They can walk through walls if you leave and come back. It looked cool for the time I had it before I left and came back.

I’m gonna do a no mod, all DLC PS4 maze and the way it’ll play out is I’ll go through it and have the i-card pop up at all the intersections with choices for the viewer doing the maze

If you use the laser trip wire to trigger the saw blade, the blade will stay on until you reset the laser. (Found that out after trying different things inspired from this video). Thanks.

I made a gatehouse using rows of stationary guns at various levels. A player or npc must hit switch a to allow entrance through the outer gate, switch b turn the guns on an off, switch c opens the inner gate. Above the gates and guns I have catwalks overlooking the space between the inner and outer gates so guards can also shoot down. It's too effective. The fun won't last long unless you have an army trying to rush in.

You've actually inspired me to disable all of my PS4 mods and do a vanilla playthrough. Awesome video as always!

16:58 Hookup multiple of these to a logic gate and then to a Brahmin cage and put nearby a Autobutcher ( it's a type of factory from a mod) and you have a very efficient slaughterhouse

Thinking, is it possible to make a corridor of pressure plates with mutiple saw traps hooked up to them all, so as the saws keep moving as you step off one onto another?

First of all, how did you get those cool stop lights up on the wires. Second of all, on my settlements, I have everything I need but my happiness meter never gets up to 100, only like 89, and it has a sad face, but my settlers have everything, even entertainment! Also to go along with that, my defense is up with turrets, guard towers, etc, but its still not good enough, and the game still makes quests saying to "build defenses for this area" but I already have them! Im having trouble figuring out how to set up my defenses on a bigger scale area like Santuary, do you find the turrets to be more helpful or should I be adding more of the trap features? You say that it's a no mod game however your wireless power poles that you have you get them through a mod known as an soe extended mod that's only available to the concept so I'm in you'd have to get rid of all your wireless receivers if you want no mods and also when you did the Bar Harbor DLC build your so-called power door that goes back and forth it's slightly a mod it's amazing that you make all these things welcome to the no mod class and yet you have about at least one third of the damn thing is all mods makes you wonder maybe you should get rid of the word no mods and just welcome to beginners look and good luck

As a regular user of the Spring Trap, it actually does break after so many uses. For the Sawblade Traps, they're good candidates for hooking up to your Siren. When an attack starts and a Settler triggers the alarm the blades can begin whirling at enemy spawn points.

Important thing to note about rad traps: They don't stop generating radiation until you fast travel away from the cell and back, even if you scrap the trap :(

Gonna comment here because I want to contribute to Fallout 4 fans a bit. So I’ve been messing with trap bases in that games since release and I never perfected it UNTIL the settlement attack tower was created. Essentially in order to move NPC’s through your trap base. You must create a mazed series of snapped floor tiles, they should be walled or fenced, that leads the aggro’d NPCs to your location. That location needs to be snapped to the same mazed floor path. The walls or fences of the path cannot be touching. For example you cannot create a 3 by 3 square tile floor and create a zig zag of walls, and hope the NPC can traverse through the maze. NPCs can see through walls. So to them they only follow the floors. So creating winding, snake pattern with the floors worked best for me. The trap doors never worked because there is NO NAVMESH on the floor. So NPCs cannot detect the trap door floor tile at all. This disconnect the entire floor maze from the house or location where you reside, and therefore NPCs won’t go into the maze to find you, but rather they will just find a new path of least resistance. In my case I was roleplaying a child of atom and I’d created a path using a ton of half floors that led NPC’s through dozens of traps as well as over the pool of irradiated water in that movie theater settlement, Starlight drive in I think it was called. At the end of the winding path I’d snapped a Church of Atom. I’d added a sign at the entrance to the path and it said, “Walk in Atoms footsteps and follow Atoms path” Fire up the settlement attack pylon and watch dozens of raiders flood into the settlement, up the steps, and into the maze of death. I’d tried second story mazes and failed, BUT I didn’t try a winding path that goes up and up and up. So if I revisited the game I’d definitely use the snake technique alongside second, third, or even four story buildings in order to create a vertical maze. Again, I’m posting this here for those that really want NPCs to follow their trap maze. I did not have settlers in my trap base either because they’d aggro the raiders and turn them away from the maze. So keep that in mind. I play on PS4 and have always played vanilla FO4 with the exception of DLC and the creation club. Hope this inspires or helps people enjoy the game a bit more. Could probably create a working meat factory like this btw. That is how you save their souls and let them return to Atom’s light. Praise be to Atom! EDIT: The settlement attack tower is a creation club item that let’s you build a pylon which can be switched on, and start a wave of settlement attacks. I build trap bases in Fallout 76 as well and kill at least 4-5 players per session.

I realy lile the idea of building a trap maze but i have so many weird ideas and my console still works on the brink or blowing up... Because my settlements are at the edge of everything I guess i need a new caharacter for this...

Well we can trap raiders so... The test subjects could be them for the trap! And I think the settlement close to diamond city its the best for it! xD

I know you dont use mods, but there is a mod that can allow you to turn Bearclaw into a follower called Beast Master.

I am a pretty good builder myself and set up many traps. I even die in my own sometimes so If I were to do a new one is it okay to die in it?

I built my first all glass enclosure. BUT it rains thru the roof? How do you get that to stop? I see you have one back there, same issue?

Having to repair those traps to reset them is just such a bad design. We should at least be able to assign settlers to their maintenance. I dunno.

How about a trap door where the Raider (or whoever) falls into a room where a caged beast is then released and they fight it out

This has given me an idea. Instead of guarding my settlements with loads of turrets, I am either going to do: 1) Keep all settlers indoors and 1 floor up so when the raiders turn up they have to run up a flight to get to them. Unfortunately, the platform will be all trapdoors leading to sawblade traps below with no way to escape. Oh dear! If these traps don't ever need repairing, they'll all be grinded to mush. Otherwise, I'll use the second method which is to elevate my buildings high enough so that when the trap door give way, the raiders will plummet to their doom. That way, I won't have to keep running back to help defend..............

WOW!! I never expected another F04 video from you. I just discovered the game about a month ago and have soaked up all your no mod tutorials. Absolutely fantastic. (Although I still cant get the wire glitch to work.) Thanks for all the great content!

I'm at the start of the series but I wanted to skip forward to the most recent video to say this - your enthusiasm and delivery on the subject of base mechanics in FO4 is brilliant! One commenter opined that you are the Bob Ross of Fallout, and it's made my enjoyment even greater. Keep up the great work, and thanks for the lessons!

I love your videos, but I have some issues. I don't know why you rely so much on glitching when mods will take care of most of that. That being said, can't you argue the using a glitch is just as much cheating as using a mod? Do you have any videos where you've created something without using a single glitch? If you haven't, consider that a challenge and let's see what you come up with.

I have a request. Because I want to make this in a settlement, but I am not the best at building, and wouldn’t know which location would work the best. My request is for you to make a baseball field!! If you go to the Boston mayoral shelter, south of sanctuary, in the shelter you find a basketball court that has all 4 bases, a bunch of baseballs and bats and all sorts of baseball equipment! I would love to see how you’d go about building a baseball field, so I could get an idea of how to go about it myself... I hope you’ll consider! I’m sure with all the tricks you’ve discovered over the years could really turn it into a great unique baseball field.

Hey Skooled Zone so me and a friend were discussing settlement building at work the other night and he had an idea for a build that I haven't seen done before and so far I can't find anything close to it yet. He said he wanted to build on top of the sanctuary house with the basement in the back and build down the back and make the basement doors inside the building. I'm going to try to make a smaller house just in back with the basement doors inside of it. Since I can't find many videos like that I'm starting a challenge to the entire fallout community (as much as possible anyway) and I'm also personally challenging my favorite fallout builders on RU-vid and I really hope all of them will respond to it. You are one them I've been watching your videos for a long time now and I feel like of all my favorites that I'm challenging you are one that might do it and even help me spread the challenge I don't have discord so I can only spread my challenge in the comments of RU-vid videos. If you respond or not you'll still be one of my favorites. Love the no mod shop class keep the classics coming.
