Right? I kinda of want him to listen to a song that spells the suicidal and depressed parts of it out to see his reaction. He didn’t pick up on it in Guns for Hands which is really surprising as well
I guess that's what we should expect from someone who's trying to give their genuine first reaction. When I just started listening to twenty one pilots, I didn't notice that a lot of their songs are very deep
"I haven't really heard any deep songs from twenty one pilots" *Me realising every single song from twenty one pilots is deep* "These lyrics aren't for everyone only few understand"
Most TOP songs can be described by this lyric from "Not Today" "Listen I know this one's a contradiction because of how happy it sounds, but the lyrics are so down"
Exactly. That's why he says "I'm not disrespecting what was left behind, just pleading that it does not get glorified" because of people who have lost to suicide & boosted up to a level of....almost reverence.....yet they weren't when they were alive.
Fuck. I miss Chester, I never took the opportunity to see them live. Well, I guess I just never had the money to go to those concerts. The time I started being in a better environment in which I had money and could see then, he had committed suicide. I saw Mike Shinoda though. Such an emotional night.
“ I haven’t heard any deep songs from twenty one pilots “ lmfao then you haven’t been listening. Some times the meaning get drowned out by just how catchy and good their music is. But every single song they have has a deep meaning to some degree. You really should go back and maybe analyze some lyrics from songs you’ve heard before
I couldn't agree more. The fact that Car Radio was one of the first clique songs he reacted to and he made that statement had me shocked. It's easy to listen to their songs and get lost in the amazing music production, but essentially all of Trench is insanely thought provoking.
Agree, every song has its meaning, some has deeper, some hasn’t that much but you can take it from every song and that’s beautiful thing about TOP: everyone can find meaning, one song could be interpreted differently by me and you but we are still in the same subject
"Listen I know, this one's a contradiction because of how happy it sounds - but the lyrics are so down..." concept lost on many people that listen to TØP...
firstlast you missed the true meaning of car radio. It’s about how society keeps hiding in superficiality, or in the case of car radio, the music, and when they are faced with reality or the silence, they are scared of it. Y’all need to chill and get off Layedbak’s ass y’all didn’t completely understand 21p the first time you heard them either
LIAMWGAMING WOF I think he never really understood the deep messages of previous songs from Twenty One Pilots cause the upbeat tempo and melodies kinda kept him away from thinking about what the song is actually about. He could listen to something like guns for hands and since it’s a fast song and it’s not calm, you don’t really think about it that deeply
Trench came out 3 days after the deadline, the only songs that could be nominated were jumpsuit and Nico and the miners because they were released early.
This song is about suicide prevention. I have been suicidal for so long and have survived many attempts. Stay alive every one Thank you guys so much, I love you all
It’s tough but you’ll get there. I recommend finding a new hobby that you really enjoy, it’ll help take your mind off the way you feel and it gives you a sense of accomplishment. For me it’s making music. Bruh, every time I finish a beat I’m so proud of myself and how far I’ve come from the beginning to now. That decision to get into something new really helped get me out of a dark place, and I hope it does the same for you. Praying for you fam. 🙌 |-/
I'd actually say most of their songs are deep including ones that you've listened to previously. this one is just more literal with its meaning, very upfront about what it's saying and the music matches the tone of the lyrics, but for their other songs the music might contradict the tone of the lyrics and the meaning can be hidden behind metaphors
For real! That's the pity of people who either don't take the time to actually listen to lyrics or only listen to music for the sound and not the message. Imo, music is one of the best forms of communication and Tyler is a lyrical genius.. not to mention his gift with sound, as well. There's nothing wrong with listening just to listen, but there's so much more there, in every genre of music not just TØP, it's just a shame some people can't experience that.
Ikr..This reminds me of Not today when Tyler says "listen I know this one's a contradiction because of how happy it sounds, but the lyrics are so down"
Third movement, pitch transposed up to Tyler's range. Great reference to a great piece of music history! It showed me that this isn't a couple of kids with a producer and a hype machine. They're fuckin' legit...
The song says neon gravestones try to call for my bones 'cause for him, the fact that his famous makes him question his life, he says that if he die, the band itself will be more famous, so, for him it's kinda a tentation Sorry for the writing, I'm Spanish and I still can't dominate the English 😅😅
Exactly! And why he says "promise me this, if I lose to myself, you won't mourn a day and move on to someone else" he's still fighting his demons, he's been in that dark spot, still is sometimes & he wouldn't want to be glorified like the ones before him.
@@jessicap5262 he just say it for their actual crowd that is holding onto him. Like, he wants to die but he knows that if he suicides, everyone who's doing it for him won't have anything why to do it
Twenty one pilots lyrics usually don't have the meaning of the song on the surface level. It's something that hits you like a brick when you're crying over something that absolutely devastated you at 2 in the morning.
Uh oh he's getting into the tøp world. Every song, every lyric, every album is far more deeper than you could imagine. It takes a lot of studying and looking into their music to even grasp their concepts. "our culture can treat a loss like it's a win" No. #stayalive
I guess the reason why he didn't realize all twenty one pilot's songs are really deep is that the previous songs he's been listening to had a ton of metaphors while neon gravestones, especially that last part, is direct and in your face... naturally that makes it easier to understand how deep it really is.
Really glad you reacted to this song, just a bit of background. This song is about suicide and I am pretty sure it was written in response to the Netflix show "13 reasons why". The songs line about using it (suicide) as a weapon or form of aggression "thinking ill teach them" rings true for this connection with how Hannah uses her suicide to shame those who bullied and mistreated her, which can be interpreted to the show recommending suicide as a way to get back at those who wronged you (which in my opinion, is probably one of the worst and most dangerous messages to place in a show directed at young adults who have already a very high suicide and mental illness rate). Twenty One Pilots actually got their name from the play "all my sons" by Arthur Miller, which follows a businessman who sold faulty Airplane parts to the military during WW2, resulting in the death of twenty one pilots (hence the name), at the end of the play, Joe kills himself out of regret and shame and the band took the name as a way of reminding them and their fans never to give up like Joe did and to keep fighting on. Suffice it to say that this song is a great look at the deeper side of twenty one pilots, really glad you reacted to this one!!!
4:15 hit me so hard when I heard those words come out his mouth. Twenty One Pilots has impacted my life so much, and they have helped me in ways you could never imagine. I appreciate that he speaks up about topics like this. A true artist indeed.
Honestly keep up the content! Usually I just like seeing people react to it and not talk alot but you actually listen to what he is saying and talk about it and opened open a whole new viewpoint that I didn’t catch!
Everyone, I wouldn't be upset that LayedBak said that "I haven’t heard any deep songs from twenty one pilots" I mean, He has heard deep songs. But your first analysis of a song isn't going to be diving so deep into the lyrics on the first go. (Which I believe thats why' hes been looking into listening to songs with lyrics in them so he can understand a little bit better) Most of the songs LayedBak has listen to are the more upbeat songs rather than the slow, deeper songs like Neon Gravestones.
Found you a couple days ago reacting to a Twenty one pilot video. Now im following Nick Cannon and Em through you and everything. Love your love for music!
Look layedbak I Ben having a hard time wanting to stay on the earth and somehow I feel like I have a brake from that by watching ur videos and keep the work up and also do you have any suggestions for keeping myself alive plz just give me a idea and thank u ur very inspirational dude just thank you
I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time. I've fought depression most of my life and have contemplated suicide in the past. Not knowing anything about what's going on in your life, all I say is that no matter how bad things seem to be right now, the future is unwritten and it's bound to get better. My wife died suddenly at 47 years old. We were married for almost 30 years. That was in 2015 and I never thought I would get through it, but I'm still here and I'm making the most of my life, whether it lasts another 30 years or 30 minutes. If you're interested, I wrote a blog about suicide last year that was very personal to me (both of my dad's brothers killed themselves when I was very young). Stay strong.
"Life is a rollercoaster" is a famous quote but it is very true. We all reach lows in our life but you got to know that things always get better. Stay Strong
Ryker Tucker Keep breathing. Your life is about more than you. It’s the unknown effect of something you do, some small thing, that can change the life of another person in a positive way. No one else can do what you’re supposed to do with your life. Your job is to show others empathy, kindness and compassion. That is why you are here. Make your life a thing that makes other’s lives better, you will find your own life will be better.
Omg. I have heard this song 100 times but i was tearing up listening to you say exactly what I always felt about life and how much i appreciate twenty one pilots. They make you think.
I'm a day late and a dollar short as always but as someone who pestered you to do this song - you just made me so happy! I'm so glad you got to hear this😊
This is the first video I’ve seen on your channel and I could tell every time their message hit you, that you could feel his words. So I’m subscribing!
I found your channel and started bingeing these 'Trash or Pass' videos and I have to say, your voice would be so good on radio or in podcasting. I could listen to it all day! Much love to anyone reading this comment. Stay safe 👍
I'm so glad you understood the message of this song and can help it resonateto more people who may not have caught onto it, they went through a lot to get this song with such a message in their album. But, they got it out there and we are understanding the full meaning of it bit by bit and are appreciating every ounce of it.
This is sweet! Neon Gravestones has a hard but true message. Nice reaction too 👊🔥Hey also I don’t like to ask this but I have some music of my own I was hoping someone could check it out, no pressure tho, keep it up my man 💯
I would like to know as well. I do think that he is trying to learn from them. I forgot what video it was, but Layedbak told us about his thoughts on TOP. He said he is learning from them, musically and performance wise
"I'll mourn for a kid but won't cry for a king" that has always been one of my favorite lines from this song I don't even know why it's just so- so much idk it's just like really powerful to me it's good, very good and meaningful.
