Garnt, here is a tech tip. to disable bixby from waking up whenever you hold the power button and turning it into a normal shutdown button. all you have to do is the following. 1- Open your "settings" 2- Go into "Advanced Features" 3- Go into "Side Key" 4- At "Press and hold" change it from "Wake Bixby" to "Power off menu" Or simply search in the settings for "Side key" and change it from there. I hope you read this comment.
Honestly hearing about Connor calling the cheese stick customer service to politely ask if they changed the recipe makes me feel so much less crazy because I 100% have been like "I'm just so curious and I need to know". Its glad its not just me lol
It's a fact that Connor's "ghost" friend exists in every friend group. Look around you, if it's none of your friends then maybe it's you. I admit I'm one and I can honestly say I have a lot of friends that hates me for it.
For me personally, I find keeping in touch with friends extremely exhausting. It's not necessarily because I hate having friends or company, it's just difficult to find topics especially if you don't go to the same school or workplace as them anymore. There is no reason to talk, even if you try to keep in contact with others, you will naturally drift apart as time goes by. So I'd rather cut the chase and ghost people as soon as I could, no matter how close I am to them. Sure they can call me an asshole or apathetic, but I'm comfortable with that.
I'm a half-phantom. I'm in multiple friend groups and I answer if someone asks me something or someone has a wedding or birthday, but I never initiate a topic or conversation, and I answer using the least amount of words possible.
Just so you know, the coffee sizing chart you speak about at 55:23 does NOT make sense in Italian either! "Grande" in Italian literally means Big, while "Venti" means twenty. 😂 Born and raised in Italy and never in my life have I heard someone order a "caffé venti".
100% this! It's just one of those things that are made to sound cooler because they're in a different language but they actually don't make any sense at all
@@IWantToStayAtYourHouse annoyed because someone doesn't want to watch something? what an conceited bastard, how dare they not do exactly what they tell you
Holy shit, them trying to convince joey i to watching arcane is EXACTLY what happened with me and my friend, I decided that harassing him would be forgiven as long as I got him to watch it, and after giving him shit for a week he finally watched it all in one day and was regretful and sorry that he didn’t watch it sooner.
About Connor's complaint about adjusting volume using your phone during casting: It wasn't Google's choice, Sonos went after them for patent infringement back in August and that feature was one of the things they claimed was infringing on patents they own. In turn Google had to remove the feature from Android 12 in general, it's missing from EVERY device on Android 12, not just Pixel devices. They've been working on a fix to get around it and it should be coming soon, Google developers have said most likely with Android 12.1. EDIT, about Connor's complaint about scrolling screenshots: Google didn't remove anything there, it's because you switched device manufacturers. Pretty much every manufacturer has their own customized versions of Android with extra features that don't exist in stock Android. Like with that feature it's because you had a OnePlus device where they added it themselves in their version of Android. Then you switched to a Pixel device which runs (almost) stock Android were that feature didn't exist at the time. Now with Android 12 it's finally a feature in stock Android so any Android devices running Android 12+ should have the feature now.
Wait what? That volume issue is actually a concern. So if my phone gets updated to Android 12, I won't be able to control the volume when casting? That's actually so dumbd that it's a legal issue.
@@Kidsnd274 Yep, welcome to patent law. The patents in question: US9195258B2, US10209953B2, US8588949B2, US9219959B2, US10439896B2. Google has developed a workaround to fix it in Android 12.1 whenever that comes out (should be sometime soon).
Silly Joey, a Karen would have called, and confidently claim that they changed the ingredients in the cheese before any form of confirmation and demand to change it back because of some vapid reason like "it's lying to the customer" or "you're betraying your brand identity" while yelling and then demanding to talk to the customer service agent's superior. So I see Connor as innocent of the accusation of being a Karen
They would either yell at them to change it back, or cry about all the emotional pain they suffered as a result of them changing the recipe and demand compensation. Source: I have to read Karens' emails. I don't work in food though, luckily.
Yes Connor doing a right minded citizen would do and that's the reason why product labels will always have contact details to have a say they have quality and service.
Unfortunately guys, many of us here in the U.S. actually have to call for information on product ingredients due to food allergies. The U.S. is notorious for allowing the use of all types of food additives/preservatives that have been banned in most other parts of the world. The sad part is that we have to call the companies to find out the sourcing of these weird ingredients (what they actually are) to literally know if we could die from it. I once called a company to ask if certain allergens were in specific items and they told me "definitely not!" and when I mentioned that's a relief since I'd been rushed to the emergency room before due to exposure to that allergen she changed her message to ... "if you're that allergic to that allergen we'd suggest you discontinue all use of our company's products". I asked her why she changed her message and she just repeated the line and thanked me for calling and hung up the phone on me. Companies these days all have the message on both their packages and websites that tell you to call if there's any questions on their foods but getting a true answer out of them is hit or miss.
That's absolutely insane. As if living with a life threatening allergy is not enough of a setback, for U.S. corporations to be allowed to turn grocery stores into minefields is a fucking disgrace.
Stop, my euroboner can only get so hard! Jokes aside, generally there's an allergy free isle in the better supermarkets here in the netherlands, but a lot of them like Aldi just have a thing that says "may contain nuts" or whatever. One of my cousins has some niche allergies and he has to carry one of those adrenaline injections around everywhere he goes.
Connor wasn't a Karen for calling up a food company and politely asking if they changed something. A Karen is very specifically a privileged person that goes hassles employees for things outside their control. It absolutely matters that Connor was polite about it and that he didn't hassle someone at the register.
@@SvengelskaBlondie pretty sure it's the second one. When a word gets popular on the internet it quickly loses meaning as people use it for everything. People that come in late not knowing the original definition just go with however the memes portray it. Karen for a lot of people just means talking to the staff for basically any reason.
@@somedudewatchintv5297 "Karen for a lot of people just means talking to the staff for basically any reason." 2:04:44 I agree with Connor here if you have a question or concern and you go about it in a good way, like respectfully, then that's all fine. But when you're all pissed, yelling, and being all kinds of rude and what not, that's some Karen stuff.
1:56:06 there is literally a section where Nanami is being introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen where he says that becoming an adult is all the little pains, and there is an entire scene dedicated to his favorite bread being different.
Connor is the reason why phones have no headphone jacks anymore. Wired will always be better than bluetooth in terms of latency (compression and having to receive wireless signals) and sound quality.
also because I'm a lazy ass and don't feel like having everything always charged. or I use my devices so much that it just dies on me when I'm still using it and like to go wired immediately and find a day when I don't need to use my devices to charge it's bluetooth feature. not having that option is quite annoying or a quick alternative.
1:55:45 "-watching your favorite stuffed bread disappear from the convenience store, *the accumulation of those little despairs is what makes a person an adult* " Connor really went full Nanami Kento right there
Arcane is so fucking amazing, and I was watching it with the intention of hating it. But put it aside, I know joey exaggerated his reaction of the arcane discussion a bit, but it's a bit selfish to do it that much when Connor still try to engage whenever they talk about eroge, asked him to read doujins, etc. At least try to give some kind of reaction other than "let's move on to the other topic". Because it so apparent, since he's start to get really active again when they switch topic.

Talking about Japan's care for their stuff, I also think the Shinto culture plays into it. I remember a Tumblr story of a computer repairman who found cooked rice in a devout Japanese woman's PC because she fed it a grain of rice every time she turned it on as thanks to the kami that lived inside it. The PC died, unfortunately XD Probably not that extreme in most cases, but I think the reverence for taking care of even the smallest things because a kami lives inside it might be there whether it's unconsciously or not

On league lore they didn't give up on the lore but did the opposite, they continuously revamped and solidified it when they started bringing in fantasy writers and take their lore more seriously. Connor's story of a fast food removing an item was so relatable when McD in singapore removed mcgriddles for a few years. I was completely devastated when I come in one day in the morning and the cashier told me they stopped selling it
Same issue here but with a product item, Milo used to taste so good that you could even spread it on bread like nutella. But ever since they changed the recipe it infuriated me so much as I can't make any of the same spread ever again.
Never was a fast-food cashier or anything, but I'm sure it's one of the perks of being one, seeing uninformed customers shocked in horror as you tell them their favorite seasonal menu item is gone.
The legal issue about the volume is because Google lost a patent lawsuit by Sonos over the technology protocol, and it affected Android 12. Connor, if you update your Pixel 4 (if you still have it) you'll have the same issue. Supposedly there's a fix coming next year 🤦

1:08:57 Connor is talking about how capsaicin reacts with the TRPV1 receptor. Basically, the receptor is used to help regulate temperature and let your brain know when something is hot enough to cause damage (by using pain as a signal). Capsaicin reacts with it to lower the temperature pain threshold by about ~10°C. So, your brain thinks you are getting a lot of heat damage, but no actual damage is done.

Connor is almost right I guess on the spice thing? there's no "actual" heat, the capsaicin binds to the same reseptors that sense heat and essentially tricks your brain into thinking you're being burnt... I guess you could kinda compare it to phantom pains where amputees might feel pain in a body-part that isn't there because the brain thinks it's feeling something even though it's clearly not. To be clear to the pain felt is argueably just as real, but there is no real damage... Pain is ultimately caused by how our brain interprets signals it recieves, so doesn't really matter where and how the signal is being sent to the brain, the feeling is still real, it's just a matter of whether there is actual physical harm.
Basically, the spice causes your body to overreact. Because they are involuntary reflexes you can't stop it, so you may suffer serious injury from those reactions. It is interesting that the actual spice doesn't affect your body but I think people should be careful in acting like they can 'tough it out' and not feel those effects because it's out of your control. Some people can build up a tolerance, others can't.
@@juanpabloperezgomez4349 That's true, but it's complicated because your body's over-reaction is what hurts you, not the actual capsaicin. But we can't control our involuntary reflexes - so it's kind of like saying pillows can't hurt you (but we know you can be smothered to death by one) same thing can happen if you eat spicy food and start vomiting so hard that you rupture your esophagus and choke to death.
@@AlexanderArts It doesn't help that capsaicin is literally a neurotoxin and in high enough concentrations can cause heart attacks, seizures, and deaths. 3 pounds of extreme chilies in powered form can kill your average person, but luckily our bodies will react before reaching the point of death in order to avoid, you know, dying. So really a more apt comparison would be to bee stings--for most people, it's painful but you'll be fine since you're highly unlikely to be exposed to a high enough dose to kill.
