You could argue that they didnt want to wake Garnt up if he was already sleeping. He could’ve squeezed in or got into another car. I sympathize with them, when youre freezing cold, sleep deprived, and find a warm place its easy to pass out.
@dueeh nyyu Well I don't know how you guys deal with cold in Wisconsin, but it's not the same to bear with -6 celsius while camping on the wild than to do it on a city or a town
@@ozanaydin9854 "to go off topic during a discussion" is the simplest way but better would be "To change topic during a discussion for a period of time before returning to the 1st topic"
Trash taste thumbnail: WE ALMOST DIED! The boys: tangents for over an hour before actually talking about their near death experience. I love Trash Taste.
About drinking while cold: When it starts to get really cold, your body reduces the amount of blood running close to your skin so it acts a bit more like a blanket, reducing heat loss. When someone drinks alcohol, their blood vessels dilate, which means more blood is flowing close to your skin. Which means your skin feels warmer, but that also means you're losing more body heat. Be very careful about that. Edit: I missed a detail, check rompom in the comments.
ER doctor from Sweden here: This is very true and one of the most common reasons we get people suffering from hypothermia during our winter seasons, except from the heat loss explained above, the cognitive reasoning gets lowered (as shown when Connor was the only person who ran) etc.
i wouldn't be surprised if it's one of those things where when people recommend something too much some people dig their heels in and just refuse to watch it
You guys were in a more scary situation than it seems you realized. Alcohol makes you feel warm because it effectively takes your internal body heat and sends it to your skin. This means you cool off your internal body temp alot faster When it stops making you feel warm, as Garnt described it's because your internal temperature is getting dangerously low. You were on the brink of hypothermia, and if you hopped in the car to warm up at that stage it actively could have killed you. Luckily you did what you're supposed to do and cuddled up in a sleeping bag to warm up more gradually, but you actually could have died.

There was literally an episode of Yuru Camp where the girls almost die in the cold - which I assume was created as a public service announcement to stop weebs from doing exactly what The Boys did. But also, I'm totally guilty as well. My first Yuru Camp-inspired camping trip I decided I'd sleep in my hammock because, "It's so much more comfortable than my tent.". And despite being in Texas and it only being like 45F/7C, I woke up at 3AM with me teeth chattering. What I didn't understand is that the ground is actually pretty decent at retaining heat. And so only 50% of you is exposed to the air . But in a hammock, 100% OF YOU is exposed to the air. Computer Manufacturers have wet dreams about getting that kind of surface area for cooling shit. And so at 3AM, I had to run to my car, drive a ways down the road so the engine noise wouldn't bother the other campers, and desperately blast the heater. And I end up sleeping for two hours with the car off, then waking up when it got too cold and turning it on for 5 minutes to warm it back up - repeat until morning. Edit: 1:43:22 Everything Garnt knows about girls comes from watching Monogatari.
yeah and the whole anime keeps saying camping on winter is dangerous and needs double the preparations and gives tips on how to prevent accidents on camping
Even though the ground may be warmer than the air temperature, the ground actually drains your body of warmth faster than if you were to sleep on a cot or something
This was like that anime episode that calls back to all the previous episodes of the season, amazing! We got Connor's drip jacket, Joey's Family-Mart Socks and Garnt becoming a mouth-breather.
"They lied to me, they fucking lied to me. They made it look comfy!" Guess Garnt didn't see Season 2 where they had an episode where the group literally almost died in the cold.
There's a post in 4Chan about how Anon tried to start a fire using the pinecones just like the girls Anon didn't control the fire that well and a mini forest fire was occurred IIRC
At this point, I think Joey just doesn't want to watch it because his pride tells him so. I'm pretty much the same, but I do recognize a masterpiece when I see one. Glad I let my cousin talk me into watching the first episode with him (granted he already finished the series and never gave away any spoilers).
The irony of it is, Yuru camp literally has an episode in season 2 where some of the characters go camping near a lake and aren't prepared for the cold lol.
I was listening to the podcast while driving home it was around 9pm. I was alone. I didn't have any scary thoughts. Then Garnt starts sharing his scary movie scene and I realized I didn't check my back seat and someone could be there ready to kill me. Thank you for scaring me for a good 10 minutes. And now I think I left my car lights on but I'm too scared to go check.
As a girl I was taught to ALWAYS check the back seat of my car in case there's someone there, also keep keys between my knuckles when walking towards my car and checking if there's anyone even NEAR my car.
@@oniruelette i really think the fact guys aren't taught stuff like that more common contributes to higher deaths rate; you shouldn't be sad someone took the time to make sure you keep youself safe, yo should be sad people go their entire lives without being taught stuff like that. Also punching with a key is kinda dumb try using it as a knife. It won't kill or wound but its more versatile and a really bad stratch can get them to loosen their grip
@@rubenguitron-martinez3218 I think both are pretty fucked up. (With girls, the danger is of a different type most of the time tho) Punching with a key thing is effective when aiming at someone's face or eye. It would be safer to attack someone with a pen than a car key. You are better off kicking shin/groin or headbutting chin if there is a power difference.
All joking aside it's great to see three friends getting along, no drama no BS just a solid friendship between three gentlemen who became and continue to become successful together
Yep thats why i watch this podcast on repeat. I feel like the more drama there is resolving around an individual just makes it harder for me to watch and i end up dropping them
Just to answer the boys, YES, in Season 2, some of the characters did try to camp under freezing conditions and they were very ill prepared. Similarly, they did end up panicking, trying find ways to heat themselves up for the night (the camp store also closed for the night) and ending up sleeping a car. Seriously, hearing bits of the boys' camping adventure reminds me alot of Yuru Camp.
Man, I need to check the out the second season. It came out and I told myself I was gonna watched it when it finished and just forgot. That episode sounds pretty interesting
On the russian animator who's been at it for over 40 years: It's not an "actual" work project he has to finish, it's more like a passion project for him, working whenever he's in the mood - he lives a normal and fulfilled life and actually has other work like lectures, interviews, educating young artists etc. so it would be more fitting to view it as his "hobby" of sorts.
yeah and Connor calling him "insane" and other very harsh things was very rude. Not everything is there to appease the audience, or to make money or to consume. Maybe sometimes people make things just to make things and that is fine.
tbh i was waiting for this after going into exams for the week,it always make me feel more relaxed watching the boys talking about their trash opinions.
Yuru camp actually did tackle a similar situation in second season. The girls decided to go camping without Rin and didn't check the temperature, almost freezing because they didn't have special equipment, but since this is comfy show, they joined other campers in their heated tent
Also, Rin, being the secretly very caring camping veteran, did research the temp, saw it was gonna go into the minus degrees, got worried and contacted their teacher to go check up on them and they ended up all sleeping in her car.
I've watched so many hours of taste taste that Garnts speech pattern is ingrained in my brain. I can predict exactly how his story's will begin, progress, and end
Not exactly I believe During the Bolivia special, Jeremy tried to cut vents into his range rover’s hood but the sparks set fire to Hammond’s land cruiser which they had to put out with beer cans
While it's a shame we'll never see the kendo special, it also speaks volumes as to how the boys care about the quality of the product they put out, whereas lesser RU-vidrs would just push it out regardless. We really appreciate you, gentlemen.
Well they didn't say we'd never see a kendo special they just said we'd never see THAT kendo special. They said they'd more than likely try to film another kendo special.
@@NotAMathGuy bro i feel you. i used to stutter while public speaking. but i think what really helps is knowing the subject well and believing that ur the expert. i lied to myself so hard and believed that no one is gonna think i made a mistake if i did it unapologetically :)
i actually have had a near death experience, and it was in a cave! As an avid caver just wanna say i love that the bois referenced lost john’s cave. Anyway, I was on a 80ish foot rappel inside a cave right next to an enormous waterfall. On our way out i noticed my ascending gear wasn’t on the rope properly, causing me to have no way to climb the rope without potential danger of sheering the rope and falling 80 feet. (I was using what we call the frog system.) I just had to inch by inch manually close my chest ascender so i could attract to the rope and climb out. Once I got to the top we had trouble taking it off the rope (which is normally very easy to do). Eventually we got it off and saw that my chest ascender and d ring were interacting in a way that they shouldn’t be causing the ascender to open. Anyway that was a little long and technical but ya
This shows how Chris is the sigma male. Climbs Mount Fuji , sleeps in cold ass temperatures , sleeps on a rock , climbs to the top . The boys with a lot of preparation still fucked by the weather lmao.
Gotta love how even though we the viewers probably wouldn't care if the bois didn't voice over much during the Kendo special, or just be fascinated seeing them do it in general, they still scrapped it cause it wasn't to their personal standards. That's how dedicated they are to their craft
Their descriptions of the experience braving the cold left me wondering why the hell none of them ever went into the car to sleep or something, then Grant revealed he was betrayed
its always hilarious when i'm hearing them talk about their perilous camping trip but then then mention hot coffee, vending machines, and heated seat bidets
@@Kunoichi4ever4 I mean, the individual anime aren't that long. Covering Fate Grand Order lore or with covering every part of Fate franchise, that's the big kicker.
Never thought that I’d hear about a “piss mist ghoul jumpscare” on this podcast followed by a snoring contest recreation but I can’t say I’m the most surprised. Thank you Garnt for sharing
As a citizen and native of a tropical country, hearing about hitting negative temperatures sounds so removed from reality, but horrifying at the same time
The part where they talk about their fears and rituals is really interesting, I think maybe everyone has those little knacks. When I get into my car at when it‘s dark outside and I know I won‘t immediately drive off, the first thing I do is lock the car from the inside. I am not scared of ghosts or monsters but I read somewhere that many women get attacked in parking lots/when they‘re letting their guard down after they got into their car and check their phone.
43:53 Grant: "(Yuru Camp) lied to me!" Yuru Camp Season 2 Episode 6: The girls get into a rough patch after a temperature drop. EDIT: LMAO It's literally like the end of the episode 1:25:56
I was thinking exactly this as I heard it. 😂 This is exactly the fear most women in the USA have except we're afraid of real people and not the spector of Death.
Joey: In normal circumstances, if it goes bellow 0 degrees celcius, school is cancelled. Me: Laughs in Quebec winter that reaches minus 30 celcius, sitting at my school desk.
This, if it's just cold outside, why close school? Just layer up. Now if there's a bad snowstorm or ice storm, it's another story. Also we did reach -40°C a few times, depends on where you are in Quebec I guess.
Other Mangaka: *gets overworked or worse from the weekly schedule* Araki: *drawing jojo still for over 30+ years* Me: That dude just built different and a cursed of youth
About the GoT thing, I heard that GRRM gave them an outline of what was gonna happen, but the showrunners were so eager to work on a Star Wars project (that they were later kicked out of lol) that they just rushed the ending, even tho HBO was willing to give them more seasons
The best part was that they got kicked off the Star Wars project because of how bad the ending of Game of Thrones was. It was the most perfect example of near instant karma.
Yah but grrm is on hiatus for years now winds of winter supposed to come in before the season 7 started. It still hasn't come out. And after the book content ended show had so many weakness and dumbass writing. They should animate GOT after the new books come out it's the perfect show Animation. With budget like 100+ millions they can do fantastic job. Even with hald of that bag.
I need to know. Sydney is from Wisconsin like me. How much did she laugh her ass off? -6 celsius? needing to get to the bathroom to pee? I'm on the floor laughing.
Yea...I think if they had long John's and thick slipper socks on, and Conner had a real sleeping bag they probably would have been good. Just enough insulation to self insulate rather than relying on a fire or coffee. Or getting the electric hand warmers and turning it on in the sleeping bag. (or a few of the one use ones)
-6C is nothing. I even slept in a snow shelter I built once. But, to be fair, I was always prepared for the cold with a nice winter sleeping bag. These guy could have easily had a great camping trip, if they had only been prepared with nice sleeping bags and a foam pad to insulate from the cold ground. I would definitely have trouble sleeping in a summer sleeping bag with only a few layers. They sound pathetic, but what was pathetic was their lack of proper preparation that I wouldn't even think about. It sounded like Connor just looked at the temp, thought, "possible freezing temperatures? its fine. I go on walks out in winter all the time. Why do I need to make special preparations?" I wouldn't think about it either. I would just look at the expected temp, drop it 10 degrees just to be safe, then make sure my sleeping bag is rated for it. Its simple to do if you know it should be done.
@@radeemer1 I don't think everyone is a pro at camping and expecting people to be is a bit unfair. I'm sure had they known they would have prepared accordingly.
Just started opening Saturdays again and now the bois have gone from a guilty pleasure as I do the house work to a necessity to keep me from snapping. Thanks boisssssss.
being a woman growing up i was taught to always check the car before getting in. always observe my surroundings and never be distracted when going to the car at night or in a parking garage.
I really hope we see less talk about relevant topics/news this years, the boys heavily fucking date the episode everytime they talk about them and kinda makes some episodes really drag.
For Arcane, A lot of the pre-production assets (outlining the story arcs, character and environment concepts, 3D environments, etc) are already created, which saves a LOT of time for production. So, 2023 or 2024 is a more probably timeline.
Me literally laughing with them when they said the fear of their partner transfer to them then it hit me that I am like Connor who have no partner (sad monke noises)
35:10 Idk if it's chance or algorithm but this episode was actually the next video after I got done watching the Kendo Special.. Appreciate the creative integrity, the special you did end up releasing was great
We had achilles slashers in my hometown when I was growing up. I definitely relate to Garnt's car fears. Pro tip, park far away from other cars and near enough to a light that you can see any shadowy figures under it when you look back. Can check under your car from a distance, and also without it being noticed.
Garnt's parent came home to a well-lit home. "Garnt, stop wasting electricity! What do you think we do? Work for the BBC?" And that's how I like to think it all started.
Act 1: They actually started talking about the title topic at the beginning. Act 2: Not even 1 minute into the video; FIRTS TANGENT about thumbnails. That's the Trash Taste experience right there in 48 seconds.
Look, who hasn't tried another man's sausage while drunk then denied their enthusiastic approval? ;D Just admit it, Joey, Garnt was onto something with the chili cheese sausages.
How cold a certain temperature feels is definitely relative to what your used to. I'm in the middle of winter where the norm is -20C so 0C seems balmy but that is just me and my situation. What made me loose sympathy for the boys was finding out they had access to warm vending machine coffee and a fucking heated bidet. "It was so cold we almost died so to stay warm I sat on a heated toilet seat and drank premade hot canned coffee out of a vending machine." It's the most first world problems I think I've ever heard. In the future, my tip is to wear more layers. Bring an extra sweater and shirt, long johns, and wool socks. Garnt is actually quite smart for throwing the canned drinks in his sleeping bag. A trick I learnt is to put stones in a fire to warm up and use those to warm up your body in a sleeping bag and I'm impressed he did that himself. Some good problem solving for sure.
I remember when I was a kid, my mom told me that people drank coffee because the caffeine made it so they wouldn’t grow too tall, and I still believed that until I asked my brother like a year ago.
Beard guy here. The itchiness for me was just a phase, you'll either grow past it or get used to it. Also some good beard balm would help itchiness and make it just look a little neater
As someone from Canada and has camped in Banff in late winter, I can confirm, not having enough materials to keep you warm is not a good idea. Whenever I have gone, we stack as many blankets and sleeping bags as we can. Freezing in your sleep is super dangerous when it gets below 0
It took 6 years for season 1 of Arcane to be made because they had to make the setup of the world good, develop the artstyle and figure out how they would place the characters in the story. The reason s2 will take way less time is because the groundwork is already there, they know the characters, they know what style and technique they'll use to animate and they have a world ready. The first spider-verse movie took 4 years to make, 2 of those were mainly focused of finding out how to tackle the animation and artstyle
the unfinished project hits me cuz for past little under a year ive been "working" on a one piece stop motion, grinded it for a few months, lost all inspiration to keep making it but also refused to start another video till this one is finished, only recently have I picked it back up and began working on it again, the video now is half done at about 5 minutes, and still got a ton of work to do, working on it rn as i write this, these videos are perfect to put in the background when editing.
when garnt was talking about his fear i was just sitting here like why is no one agreeing to him. i literally do the same thing and have gotten traumatized too!!!
