I would like to say one simple thing that magnifies the excellence of FABI: The Apocalypse Rail is a valid target for it. Aside from that, jazzed to finally see my favorite mech be officially released! People are gonna have a blast with this one.

As a GM, I cannot wait to see this thing snap an encounter in half. :D

I personally can't wait for the new GMS mech, as an Everest main, I'm happy to have a new option to toy with on character creation. The variant mechs are super cool too. Kidd itself is just a neat idea, and I like the mental image that when you print this thing, like a second later an orbital laser is printed that you now have to either pick up after every mission or just leave it and print another. So you know some lancer asshat out there is just leaving a trail of destruction and Jolly Roger lasers

Thoughts: The base chassis stats on the KIdd are really pretty fragile against anything that reliably cracks Armor 2 or deals heat and/or burn damage without having to attack e-def to do it. Going to be hard to decide where to stick your skills here. Hull and Engineering to cover those weak spots, or Systems for better tech attack ability and even more SP? Is Agility worth it at all when you already have good Speed and an Evasion that will struggle to get to "average" no matter what? PEBCAC is a unique (outside of homebrews) example of a Tier-1 license system that provides real tech defense for your allies. Previous options (eg Black Witch, Hydra) have required two-three LLs dedicated to the frame to do that. While the system's got some serious downsides (uses your actions, has erratic side effects) if your team is full of frames that regularly fall for Nigerian oil ministry scams it's easier to splash into than other options. I expect to see this one a lot on other frames, although Kidd still likes it best since it bumps the JR die for them. Still can't decide if the final version of FABI is better or worse than the earlier one (with AP, overkill, +1d6 damage and drawbacks) but it certainly is different and easier to use. Bumps your JR die too, so one step closer to firing the Orbital Death Ray. Omnibus Plate will sometimes be easier to destroy than whatever drone/deployable you park on it, so a GM who's struggling to deal with the large Burst and resistance it grants should consider whacking the plate first.

All of those deployables sound amazing. It will probably be a pain to figure out exactly what of all of those things your generous, but still limited, system points can slot.

despite the rules demanding that you let the jolly roger do its job, there nonetheless seem to be many contexts and environments where it is peculiar for it to be doing its job. i wonder why they ditched having fighting subalterns for something so much less self-contained

I'm really glad the Subaltern system isn't baked into the frame. There's a lot of fun things opened up by that. (Hi there Drake that builds it's own tower to shoot from!)

Question about your running mech series that you've probably already answered: What do you use to make your maps? I'm coming from the D&D scene so I'm used to using programs like Inkarnate, anything like that for LANCER? Love the content btw, got me into the game and I'm finally running my first homebrew game over the summer with some buddies over discord, you've been an amazing resource!

4:52 Uhm...is there a typo on the core power there, or is that a mis-speak? The text reads "increase Plunder and Scan to burst 2" rather than "Plunder and Swindle" Honestly not sure if the Scan is right or not - it would still be a useful improvement that wouldn't require you to reset the Jolly Roger die, and in fact would make it easier to increase it by clipping an ally with the burst while scanning nearby enemies as well. And Swindle is probably too strong as a Burst 2 effect, but how often would you really want to reset a 5+ JR die rather than use a Line 10 laser cannon of Doom? But are we sure one way or the other?

Why would the Damping Station need Omnibus to effect size 2 mechs? the effect doesn't require mechs to be fully within the Burst 1 area, right?
