I would love a more in-depth video on tips for building out a kit like this. I'm currently doing the same for my pro 2 and trying to figure out the best balance of weight vs ease of use while maintaining top quality
I recommend the Outin Nano for travel, especially when outdoors. It heats the water to correct temperature before the extraction. Has enough charge for 4-5 shots and can be charged with a power bank between coffee stops to get even more shots out of it. Alternatively, what I usually do, is carry a thermos of hot water to use with it so the battery lasts for dozens of shots.
We went starlight camping at Antelope Island Park in Utah recently. I wanted to see if I could use a hand grinder, our Flair, and water heated over a fire to make our espresso. Spoiler alert, totally doable. Game changer.
Cup stand! Can that part absorb that much of pressure release from that leaver. Is this machine reliable? What kind of materials used to make this piece? 😊
“In ten minutes or less you can heat your brew water right inside the chamber”… yes you can heat it but only to about 70°C in ten minutes. Even after 20 minutes I was struggling to get temperature above 88°C. - I wouldn’t even like to try heating up cold water outdoors on this with a battery pack. Anyway, who is taking these out in the woods? Picopresso for camping etc , job done.
If flair decide to make a solid base to hide the PSU for a much beefier heating element that can have water heat from room temperature to 95°C in 2-3 mins, and have capacitive controls where the logo is on the base I believe they would have an end game machine.
Forgot to mention. After 40 minutes I could only get the temperature to around 92°C and the controller still wasn’t up to temperature, still flashing away. The water level had also evaporated by about 10%. I gave up. Heating water in it is not advisable
I just bought a Flair classic without a pressure gauge. What advice can you give for figuring out exactly how much force to impart on the lever to make an espresso correctly? Thanks
Question. Everybody says you have to boil your water separately first, is this true? To get it to at least 93 degrees? Love the flair 58+ really happy with it. Saves my main machine from heating up for a single shot of espresso. It’s great on so many levels.
Yes you have to boil the water separately. Whole lot of misinformation in this video. You can technically heat water in the chamber but even after 20 minutes I couldn’t get temperatures much above 88°C
You can ’heat’ the water yes but not to espresso temperatures. They should definitely make a version that can, that will sell like hotcakes (not to mention the soon coming Meticulous that can do it)
