Traveling in to Syria in 2023 is not easy. The country is in the midst of recovering from a 12 year civil war, and entry is restricted, crossings in to this ancient land can only be made by land, from Lebanon or Jordan. We have wanted to travel to Syria for years, the cities of Damascus & Aleppo are some of the oldest & most incredible on Earth and its incredible culture, people and food have always fascinated us. In the heart of the Middle East, in what was Mesopotamia, and on the ancient Silk Road, Syria is at the cross road of civilisations. Even in its very recent history, Syria has been controlled by both the Ottoman's, the French to name a couple. Each different country has left its mark on Syria, making it one of the richest & most beautiful cultures not just in the Arab world, but on Earth.
Our journey starts in Beirut Lebanon, where we were picked up early in the morning and driven to the border, before attempting to cross in Syria and head straight for Damascus, the historic capital of the country.
Join us for one of the most intense travel days and overwhelming, interesting and crazy weeks in our lives. Welcome to Syria.

I met many Syrian people in Athens when I moved for a year, I tried their food, had some yummy black tea, learned a few words and all i can say these people don't deserve any of this happening to them and their land.. they're amazing people to hang out with and they usually are very willing to make new friends and talk and laugh at your jokes and share their culture and amazing mindset of being generous.

You can come to Syria anytime. As a Greek Citizen you can get a tourist visa at the Syrian Embassy near Beirut, Lebanon. It usually takes 4 to 5 working days to get the visa (in any case the only way for you to fly to Syria is Athens to Beirut and from Beirut you can catch a bus or shared taxi to Damascus).

This is the first time I've seen a travel vlog from Syria and it's so fascinating! The media usually shows Syria in a very different & negative way so I'm happy to see you documenting your travels there and showing the beautiful sides. It's hearthbreaking to see so many parts of the world, including Syria, being at war and people having to leave their homes. It would be super interesting to travel to this part of the world myself, really hope I'll be able to visit Syria and other countries in the region someday.

Love from Sydney ❤ Born in Australia and my folks migrated in the 60s. I visited Syria in 1995, 1997 and 2007 (more advanced) I loved all the castles, Palmyra, Ebla and more. I pray more people can visit and for it to be better than what I had experienced in 2007, it was ruined by war when it was about to flourish. I truly hope it does again. Thank you for sharing 🤗

I'm crying here... I'm a 28-year-old Syrian doctor who left Syria two years ago to work and find a better life in Germany. I'm happy in Germany as an atheist who couldn't continue living in a Muslim country especially after the war. But I still miss many of the features and treats of Syria. The country was very beautiful, but it's gone because of the dictator and the Islamists. I wish it didn't have to go that way. I wish it could have remained Syria, the ancient, beautiful country of ancient civilizations. Thanks a lot for bringing me back the memories. Just a tiny piece of advice for ypu and for other travelers: Damascus is very nice and a must-see place, but there are so many better places to visit in Syria, such as the coastline mountains. I live in Europe now, but I have never seen more beautiful natural views than those in the mountains of Tartus… no words can describe them. Damascus, Tartus, Lattakia, Hama and Aleppo are the five regions that are a must-see in Syria.

I did this trip back in 2006 - I think it was. Very nostalgic to see it again - and to see how things have changed. 😥 We were basically free to move around on our own back then, no guides required - though I do remember a hairy run in with the police when we went on a day trip, but left our passports back at the hotel. All's well that ends well though. Interested to see the rest of the series! 👏👏👏
