Tom's advice about compressing down is a myth. As long as the goose or duck down jacket/sleeping bag is clean, then it can be compressed for months without a problem. A good quality goose down product can even be tightly compressed into a rock-hard ball for years without the down itself losing any loft. That is a fact.

Great video. Looking forward to the next one. As for you filming in public... I think it also has to do with how you film it. Filming with the Osmo Pocket, you use a very small footprint that feels less intrusive. I often use the Pocket 3 (and 2 or 1 before) on commercial shoots as B or C cameras… to get those improvised, hard-to-get-access-to shots, especially while in public ;-) Cheers from LA.

I just came back from my trip to Japan, Australia and New Zealand. My carry-on was 11,5kg (max. allowed weight is +- 7kg). It was no issue at all. I think they don’t really care much about weight as long as you don’t carry really big bags as carry-on.

I can absolutely relate to how stressful travel with kit is. I'm lucky that Lufthansa/Brussels with whom I travel 90% of the time don't generally weigh camera gear, and the people at checkin seem to understand you are carrying expensive gear and be more tolerant with oversize and so on.

I have never been stopped for carry on gear, although I have never had to travel with a big prime. The trick is to have a good sized personal item that holds a fair amount of gear, but does not look bulky. My typical travel photography kit all fits in the personal item, so if forced to - I can check the roller and still keep my camera gear on me. Gear includes: 100-400, 24-70, 16-35, main body, backup body, point and shoot, and usually a prime also.
