Travis Air Force Base, California, participated in a maximum aircraft generation event for Exercise Golden Phoenix, May 12, 2023. In support of the maximum generation event, the 60th Air Mobility Wing launched 21 aircraft in rapid succession. The event provided the opportunity for airmen to perfect readiness capabilities to use in a response to real-world contingencies. The 60th Wing operates C-5Ms, C-17s, and KC-10s.
The nose-to-tail marshaling of the aircraft gives rise to the nickname "elephant walk" for such an exercise.
