It’s amazing how lucky Travis is to have a mentor and friend in his brother Jason. Travis had earned all of his success but I love how much Jason has helped him behind the scenes.
@@nilfuxTravis didn’t get a drug charge. He tested positive when the NCAA did a random drug test. Then he lost his scholarship. Jason helped him get back on the team & get his scholarship back.
I am sure his brother Jason has helped him, but positionally there is no doubt that Antonio Gates is who has helped Travis Kelce the most. There is no doubt he watches plenty of Gates game tape..
The thing I like best about Travis Kelce is that he is slippery. He is ALWAYS getting open, and he never takes a direct hit. He just always gets open, and he makes great catches. Also, he and Mahomes seem to be reading each other's minds all the time.
Chiefs fan since 1990. Kelce's ability to EXTEND drives with big-time 3rdDwn catches his entire career. Why Chiefs blew that 21-3 Halftime lead in Alex Smith last Season WC gm vs Titans. Kelce went out gm by Halftime with a concussion. Smith HAD HAVE Travis... We all just seen what Mahomes was gonna do. Just had his 1st start week b4 @Den. Led us to a come fr behind W. Plus showed his ability to Scramble on 3rd&longs to find an open receiver or run it for 1stDwn. I was wanting Mahomes take over after Halftime for Alex Smith just because we had no Travis Kelce. 21-3 lead? Sure F enough! Smith unability extend drives cost us that gm
Totally valid, and if he didn’t work hard till his senior year there is always a chance that once he got drafted he becomes lazy. like a contract year, get paid then get fat. He went so high because Reid trusted Jason.
Reminds me of Kittle. Kittle didn’t play much his first 2 seasons at Iowa stuck behind some very good TEs and has said he partied too much until a strength and conditioning coach told him to get it together if he wanted to play pro.
I looked at his college stats a few years after he established himself in the NFL and I’m honestly surprised he was drafted just looking at shear numbers; let alone his off-the-field history. Reid knew what he was doing though.
Basically everything in that report is 100 percent spot on he is slow, he doesn’t have creative instinct on the field,he does have a child mentality, and he can only catch when wide open and arguably the greatest quarterback in the league and might become one of the greatest quarterbacks ever feeds him the ball
It´s funny to watch this video 6 years later when Travis has become a two time superbowl champion and one of the best all time TE (and a firts ballot Hall of Fame candidate)
This is hilarious seeing this in 2023 for the first time. Is it just me or are all of these “weaknesses” strengths that make him the GOAT? His route running is so elite that literally no tight end ever is even in his realm because it’s probably just Jerry and him (#1 and #2 playoffs all-time).
Now he is a Super Bowl Champion and his route running and catching abilities are what got the Chiefs to and winning the Super Bowl. Best TE in the league.
Best receiving tight end in the league..he’s not the best TE by how the position is classically designed to be played..he’s not that good of a blocker, he’s decent, but they don’t ask him to block..George kittle is by far the best tight end in the league..it’s not even close..his hands are just as good as kelce, his blocking is elite, he’s faster than every tight in in the league except for pitts..I’m a fan of kelce, but he’s never been the best tight end in the league..but his hands are elite, definitely and he plays the way they need him to play
Kelces first pre-season he ran a slant caught it and breezed past the lb and got enough hip strength to keep going in and I drafted him for my fantasy team. The best TE reciever ever and very good at everything else too.
Travis plays smart ball. In the great words of Pat Mahomes #1, “players make plays”. Travis is a 3 time Super Bowl champ and a future hall of famer. A living legend for sure
The thing I love about this is you can tell he's kinda thinking about going back and looking at tape to see how many of these are true. Like you know he's spent the last 6 years since this making sure his cuts are sharp and he runs crazy routes just to be sure. He's just that kinda athlete; he respects the people around him so he sees criticism as a challenge, not an insult. Except for the athlete thing. I don't know who thought that.
Your only as good as your QB for most guys. He couldn't even Crack 900 yards and 5 tds with Alex Smith and he had an even worse qb in college so it's no surprise he didn't really get to shine like he does now with a legendary talent at QB
@@DavidMartinez-pg3zq he actually had two 1000 yard season in the two years leading up to 2018 when mahomes took over as the starter full time. He also had 8 tds in 2017 when pat only played one game.
@why why Okay but that's still only two out of 4 years. That's a 50% ratio while now he is 100%. My comment still stands. Plus anyone can have one good year. He had one 8TD year. Big deal. Rob Gronkowski would play only 10 games and have 10 or 12. That being said you are technically right those can be considered good seasons. So you proved me not 100% right but 50%.
@@jacobfeliciano9005 So how's Kittle doing now? That's right it don't matter if your good if you can't stay healthy. The best asset in any tight ends ability is availability.
Wasn't arguing. Just asking. I can see how someone would say Ertz is second. Great tightend. I remember I wanted my Niners to get him, but the Eagles took him and we picked Vance McDonald, who is trash
Being a prior athlete myself, I can understand why they were concerned with his longevity and speed. You don’t want any receiver over 220pds at the NFL level. His weight for 6’5 makes him more suitable for linebacker where power and pace is more needed than speed and angles. How do you expect a 6’5 260 pd TE to run past the 6’1 208 pd guy that runs a 40 meet at 4.4 or 4.2
I love how they act like these are stupid scouting reports. Obviously they are going to be completely different players once they are established in the league.
I know this comment is old, but....they said he was unathletic, and the guy is 6-5 260 and runs a 4.6 40 time. The dude is super athletic for being a dude that big and heavy.
Did. This man say you can’t tell someone there opinion is wrong. You can if that person is saying that the opinion is fact like a draft sheet is. Those things don’t open with “Just an opinion please disregard, I think”
High motor is what they say about the fast white guy every time. JJ Watt was high motor according to Kiper. We know him now as the greatest DE of all time.
I just started watching football recently and still don’t understand what makes Trav great? Maybe someone can explain? Like when I watch Tyreek Hill, I instantly know he’s a great player
1. Football IQ, ability to find the soft spot in the defense. 2. Chemistry with his QB, timing is impeccable, right place right time. 3. Route running is top-notch, but he doesn't always run his route the way the play is called, which makes him really hard to prepare against.
Chiefs were lucky with a lot of 3rds and 4th picks with black marks who became the top of their position. Travis Kelce - 3rd round, Juston Houston - 3rd round, Tyreek Hill - 4th round
Funny... is that why he needs to be double teamed? Is that why he's one of the best TE in the league? Is that why he lead the high-powered KC in receiving yards in the 2019 season? Talk about eating their words for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Travis has a quarterbacks ability to read the defenses, and knows EXACTLY what to do, in every situation. Watching he and Patrick Mahomes is like watching brothers that are pyschic. They always know what to do, and where the other one is going.
Karo French he looks like your prototypical white male, privileged, who at a college party spiked your vodka and cranberry. Now you’re upstairs having four dudes plow into you and you don’t even remember your name.
It’s ignorant to say someone looks like a rapist. I’m gonna assume being 6’5” 260lbs athlete, along with not being ugly, he didn’t have problems finding a willing college girl. No homo.
