That’s the best kind of repair - one that takes a few minutes to figure out, then doesn’t need a bunch of money thrown at it for new supercomputer brains, lol. Glad you got it going!
Earl you are my hero! I had the same blinking code on my e-revo 1/16 with a VXL-3m after not having used it for more than a year. I broke up the push-button and saw the typical signs of waterdamage on the bottom of the push-button. cleaned it with ispropanol, put it back together and it works fine again! thank you so much - you made my son happy - well, me too ;-)
Nice lil fix brotha less than 25min I’m pretty sure it could have been done faster by you but the whole not being able to see the channel on the receiver threw you off….well at least you’re daughter Will be more than happy now and I’m pretty sure she highly appreciates you Earl 💪🏼💯💪🏼 cause that’s what us dads are here for our children!!!!!
Right on Earl ! I went thru 3or 4 escs on my max , with the same problem. I changed it out . Now I can hopefully fix the other ones with that kinda problem. Thanks for sharing my friend Have a great weekend and stay safe. 👍🥶👍

Hi Earl 👋 I was suspecting a stuck power button on the esc because when you plugged in the battery the esc powered up without the power button being pressed. Then 1 flash, 2 flash, 3 flash is the sequence for "driving mode" selection (pressing & holding the power button will do that). I'm only part way through the video 🤣. Great videos as always! Thanks 😀
I had the same issue with my slayer pro conversion to electric we’re my steering was controlling the throttle now I’ll be able to fix it thank u for your awesome videos ✌🏼💚
I had something similar happen to my Maxx and it was because the button got stuck depressed down. I had to take apart the ESC (both covers) and remove all the debris around the power button. Perhaps the power button is stuck so it goes into some sort of reset mode?
The red black white coming from ur servo was at the very bottom then the other red black white wire coming from esc right above that one, skip a space then ur red and black wire plugs in with 2 remaining spot left at the top. That's how it was when u started before it went funky. Hope that helps but I'm sure you got it figured out by now lol.

Watched the first few seconds and knew that the on/off button was stuck, but the receiver has 2 channels for channel 1, so you have to put the esc wire in the third slot and I went through the same problem on my rustler 4x4 vxl, watched the first few seconds and knew that the on/off button was stuck
Ive git the same problem on my maxx, exept the button on the ESC was not stuck. I also didnt find any shorts in any of the servos/fans etc. Any idea what it could be? Im hoping the esc itself isnt bricked
This is why I always ditch the stock systems in any Traxxas Vehicles, good for bashing but not sure about speedruns when you might need to adjust the punch settings and it doesn't run censored 🤷♂️ but thats just me
@@earlmoorhead5555 whatever gives the esc power may it be a old school double a holder 4 batts or a rechargeable pack just make sure its plugged in the right place in the esc I was saying that because it happened to me 🏁👍
Yes batteries right to esc and the esc plugs into receiver channel 2 to supply power to the radio ended up being a faulty power switch on the esc was sticking down had to clean it out 👍👍
I just got mine a week ago and it did this to me 🤧 im sad because i spent 610$ and The esc fails. A few weeks later I got a new ESC and motor from Traxxas then it was blinking green so I got a new receiver now I've had that new system in my maxx for over 7 months no problem
Just hit full throttle and it locked up right before I hit my jump🙁. My esc is blown up😭. Would y'all recommend a sidewinder 8th combo? Is it reliable?
X maxx question again… I got the xlx2 and 1100kv combo and a 50t spur and the 40t and 37t pinion Saga gears you suggested on a prior question. So my dilemma now is I have the 1100kv motor with a D shaft and the pinion gear is a circle bore. Will it still work on the motor shaft or do I have to buy different pinion with a D bore?
Red light should flash 3 times, press and hold, 1 green flash, 2 red flashes then one purple steady light. Turn it off and on then grab your Arrma stuff and go have some fun lol. Kidding, I have lots of Traxass stuff but at least it was a quick one!!
I did the same thing with my e revo because i bought it used and it only had one servo in it. It took me a couple tries to realize it had to channel ones
The esc wire was on the second channel 1 traxxas has on there receivers so steering was on channel 1 ,and so was the esc that’s why steering was glitching 👍
Mines draining my battery completely.. and showing The voltage light.. I only have steering also.. no throttle.. charge and go back to having fun.. it will drain the pack till I have to charge it(the no no way) atleast till it picks it back up.. so what would this b?
The 4s esc buttons are junk I had to spray mine with wd40 traxxas told me to do it . But the buttons get wet they have to dry out for some reason the 8 esc can get wet but the 4s esc can’t it weird
I knew traxxas had this in there receiver but most split it with a Y connector I forgot about traxxas using two channels for 1 👍👍working on so many rc it happens

Press and hold the button let it go when it blinks at the setting u want one blink 2 blinks 3 blinks hold and let go at one blink or 2 blinks or 3 blinks for the setting of mode u want
I've been spraying it inside distributor caps for 40 years. On leaky ignition wires and plenty of other electronics. Never once a short but to each his own... I do very much appreciate your content. It has guided me threw quite a few rc issues.
@whitenas yes as the primary and secondary ignition is different then direct current a conductive contact on a cap wd40 works to make that spark on the terminal but on a direct current it will connect ground to power as well 😱
Ok..You made me check lol. A quick Google search reveals that it is in fact " non conductive "... wd40 has saved me a million years and a million dollars . In this case an 8s traxxas esc that was flooded with water. I sprayed some directly into the switch and voila it began working again. Even traxxas recommends the use of it after a wet ride. Use it👍🙏😉🔧
@whitenas WD40 is totally dielectric. Don't use WD40. It can penetrate into and degrade certain plastics and it leaves a residue that will collect dust and other particulates. Use ordinary isopropyl alcohol (a.k.a., isopropanol) to clean the contacts and then dry thoroughly before reconnecting your charging cord.Feb 9, 2020
