I just converted mine to brushless after having owned it for about 5 years. Second RC. I've had the brushless (Castle Mamba Monster 2 and a Castle 1512, 2650 kv motor combo) system since about a year after I bought the Summit. I just never had an idea what connectors I wanted to solder onto it. After a while I started to notice I have a lot of EC5 connectors so that is what made me decide on making it an EC5 RC. On top of that is rated for 120 amps or something like that which in hindsight became a no brainier. I've got a lot of connectors that I bought some time back. Even XT90S which I thought I'd have used by now but haven't used one. I've got chargers that will charge any style battery I pick, but I've been getting used to soldering the EC5s. I've also made my own charge leads with them. I do have to get a few sets of Lipos best suited for the battery trays. My 2s Smart Lipos work fine, but I use the Summit in the worst conditions imaginable and don't want to destroy the smart batteries. Other than the brushless and an aftermarket servo, I've done no mods to it. I've only ever broke one thing on it, not really broke, but stripped the rear diff gears. You'd never know it didn't come brushless from the factory as the Castle system is the identical system used for the Traxxas Power up program during the times of the old TQ transmitter with the flip up antenna.
Im liking your channel more n more i see...i have 2 box stock summits on 2s for me n my daughter there alot of fun...great for camping with lights n lo g run time plus very reliable n tough out of the box with the 775 brushed motor 👍
@@earlmoorhead5555 i had a erevo original n it couldnt handle 6s let alone 4s everytime i took it out it was a money pit n i had so much done to it...diffs too weak......i ended up replacing it with the summits n dont regret it 👍
What's actually perfect for this truck is 5s, the stock brushless system handles it well. And even stepping up with a little taller gearing helps 1st year to be more useful and then 2nd can really rip and the extra voltage of 5s helps pull that taller gearing. Never had a problem doing that 10yrs later, no joke.
MAN,,,,I can’t believe how plush that suspension is,,,,looks like my garage is going to get bigger,,,always room for one more.....what does the transmission do? Locks in for speed............or crawling..... the suspension looks like it’s on pillows........love it.....DAMN!!!!
Had a brand new Summit a couple years ago had a bad shift servo right out of the box. I hoard electronics, so I had it running in a few minutes. Nice video.
I have the same orange summit, brand new out the box had the same issue. The shift servo lever was not put on right and stripped out the plastic gears, I had a great product support from Hi-Pro RC Shop, they sent me a free 2065X metal gear servo priority mail, I adjusted the shift lever properly and never had an issue since. I'd also check your steering servos, my were screaming out the box, had to adjust the linkages but quite as a mouse now.
RCn4fun 01 I’m going to check with the hobby shop I got it from about 8 month ago see if they can help since I’ve never ran it before today it’s crazy the burning smell from the esc has me worried that all the electronics need to be replaced now thanks for sharing your issues they help 💯💯💯👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Hi Earl, it's hard to say which one is better cause each of them was presented in a quite different way 😉 what I really like is that 6s version as I am not a crawler fan (maybe because I have never tried it). Btw, I have a feeling that You did sth with mic or You are talking louder, there is much better voice quality, thanks for that 👌👍

The crawls up the curb were SO SMOOTH and CLEAN. The tree climb👌The squat that green summit does during acceleration is AWESOME. Even the neighbor noticed the squat😂YES I noticed that with the harder tires it didn’t crawl as smoothly. Still does but not as smooth. Excellent video as usual Earl. Like I said, LOVE the channel. It’s been on 6s for 8 years I put in the parts in the transmission and the diffs to support it lmr used to make parts for them idk if they still do I think there on Facebook I found the parts on eBay way back in the day I think I have one spare diff cup left but haven’t had any issues other then I strip a spur gear every now and then but I left it plastic on purpose 💯💯👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes you will sometimes from a stop pull the trigger slow to engage the diffs not just switch and full pull it could not be all the way engaged 💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥appreciate the support 👍👍👍
Did you do anything with the transmission gearing? I’m considering getting one and was thinking about converting it to brushless but just don’t know how the transmission will hold up.
4s is plenty for me. In fact probably going to run on 3s. I haven't had the truck long. Got it in a trade and it needs some work. Too much power makes it harder to control plus wear and tear is greater. I have crawlers and a couple 'bashers'. I say that because I do not bash with them lol. Bashing is too hard on equipment and too expensive on a budget. I like the Summit because I consider it to be a hybrid between a crawler and basher.
Same issue here. Got my orange one last week. Shift servo out of the box was bad. Replaced it and its perfect now. Traxxas shipped it no questions asked.

I traded a two-wheel drive Rustler roller for a summit roller and put my castle Creation in it I'm just running a 4s right now go check it out on my channel
Why not beat the hell out of them parts are cheap and fast to fix will be Abel to get parts on eBay forever and just run aftermarket nobody runs junk stock anyway

It’s 1/10 to a normal monster truck so it’s not a 1/8 scale as a monster truck is way bigger than a regular 1/1 car that where ppl are wrong 🔥🔥🔥please watch the language as kids watch sometimes 🙏🙏
