Traxxas Summit Water Test....failed! 

Doesn't anyone read manuals these days? Part 1= RUNNING IN WET CONDITIONS Your new Traxxas Summit is designed with water-resistant features to protect the electronics in the model (receiver, servos, electronic speed control). This gives you the freedom to have fun driving your Summit through puddles, wet grass, snow, and through other wet conditions. Though highly water resistant, the Summit should not be treated as though it is submersible or totally, 100% waterproof.

Part 2= Water resistance applies only to the installed electronic components. Running in wet conditions requires additional care and maintenance for the mechanical and electrical components to prevent corrosion of metal parts and maintain their proper function.

This guy could be wealthy and he has just ran a test I couldn't afford but was impressed by the results and will now buy traxxas for a beater. Traxxas boasts waterproof machines and with sealed tires this test may have passed so big ups to the man for his sacrifice he's up there with Jesus

listen. Traxxas does not say that their products are COMPLETELY waterPROOF. but waterRESISTANT. water is able to seep through into the reciever box through the wire housing. For them to be ABSOLUTELY WATERPROOF it takes some personal modifications that will void the products warranty. And they also give guidelines as to how they should be run in deep water. Completely submarining your system without mods will most likely cause this problem as i found out with my mini slash VXL.

I don't understand why somebody tried something wild on his own RC truck and shared the result can invite so many 'idiot' comments. To me it's quite interesting and I'd like to see if the radio frequency other than 2.4GHz will work or extend the antenna can improve. For those said 'it's not a boat', think about your iPhone, it's not a PC, you bought a cell phone, why are you using it to do something other than talk? Be creative!

The whole truck should not be submerged box stock. With a little work, you can drive your truck completely under, or "swim" on top of water. Your choice! A little know how goes a long way!

old tech am radio recievers are looking pretty good right now, lol so is a blow dryer and 4 hour service for that drowned summit!

Uhm lotsa hate here and it doesn't make sense, but just so you know... the truck is completely waterproof, there is no harm in doing this. The ONLY harm would come from flooring it under the water, the motor isn't designed to move that much water through the fins.

Yes they are waterproof...but only to an extent! They are not ment to be thrown underwater and driven! only splashes in puddles...

Water got into the traxxas connectors resulting in the current from the battery not being able to reach the ESC. this happened to me when I first got my 1/16 summit vxl and I thought I broke it lol. I did some tests and realized that if you dont have the connectors tightly pushed together or sealed, the water will get into the connectors and cause it to lose power.

You've got the brushed motor in, brushed motors wear out a ton faster when submerged in water, that could be one of the problems. Also someone said something about the 2.4GHz cutting out underwater, sounds pheasable.

IT'S HIS TRUCK HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH IT

Its because you got mud or some weeds in the motor, you have to clear it out before you use it again or it will continue to lock up

They should include a fishing pole with every purchase. So when it fails you can fish it back to shore. not too lucky, not all traxxas fail the water test. lol

@ArogantniFrajer naaahh battery full. it is the transmission got stunned due to the water level went covered over the antenna length. The truck is fine and runs well until today,,

that person need a lot of learning how to drive a traxxas summit and he laughs at when the receiver does not respond for a moment

@artgsxr1000 plastidip. put all the plugs in the receiver that you are going to, and spray it with several coats ( thick, but not running or dripping) and it will be waterproof. i did that with my receiver before 2.4ghz or receiver boxes ever got used on rc cars.

drove mine into the sea yesterday , had to dissamble everything , even the bearings and diferencial and gearbox. salt began to crystalize in gearbox and bearings , my engine is 1/2 wurth now ,lol

he did not realize that the Summit has front and rear diff lock and high and low gear setting and if he does not understand go to traxxas.com and type summit and there is a video for it how to use the front and rear diff lock and high and low gear setting

chill out bros, summit is meant for such trashing in wet! I knew how much the summit would take ok and until present day, she is still at her top performance! What as if I'm gonna ruin her by wetting her? C'on and know your tag line before bombarding. And what's wrong wearing short while bashing truck? Turns you on?

@dejelidoo yuppp it happens to my summit too.. Went to the pool and it works out fine but then the servo for the diff doesnt work anymore.

muddy water ruins brushed motors. you can dunk it in clear water all day and nothing would happen

@dejelidoo Nothing is water PROOF. the vxl is water resistant. ALSO, if you want to submerge you truck and expect it to run, you have to have 27mhz,

yes this summit is waterproof but it doesnt mean that you should use it as a Spartan, Personally I could care less if he throws it in the ocean... its just funny to see ppl abuse their RCs and the have a " i wonder Why isn't this working hmmm" haha

No offence, but it isn't a military grade bullet proof vehicle. My point is, it's toighness has a limit. most R/C Cars can't do that. Be careful with pushing a car to hard or you'll be the one to pay for it - literally...

@sloth777777 Hi, I just wanna enjoy the Summit goes for its maximum stress. But don't worry, all my car, Summit, ERBE, SavageFlux believe you me that I perform a complete maintenance by re-greasing the bearing after a wet run. All my toys, trucks, buggy are in very good running condition.

Ok first off all traxxas are not completely "waterproof" yes you can run them in water if you chose and have a brushless motor and waterproof exc like the summit but you should never fully submerge the truck like in this vid it can seiz bearings or worse fry unprotected components if u run ur traxxas rc in water always dry it off afterwards and oil the bearings if you don't have fun spending about $100 or more buying what ever bearings seized the motor if brushed and possibly other stuff but I

traxxas better start writing water resistant on the box and stop saying waterproof. People seem ready to test it out lol :-)

The brushed motor is not waterproof at all I burned threw 3 of them before I learned this if u want waterproof go with velineon great motor I have actually threw my slash in the pool and drove it still works fine

buy a more longer antena tube and put the antena more higher

maybe because the antenna was not up I know even if I'm close on one of my RC with the antenna down it wont work just a thought

If it doesn't work the first time that doesn't mean try it Again with the Exact Same Set Up! Obviously if it just didn't work like that, driving it back in again would probably make it die again.. Hmmm!
