And that's how you tune your rig! Shock positioning is most important, you nailed it bro! But I think you still have one more position that will assist in performance. Move the top position one space toward the rear. Should find a whole new feel of "balance". M.I.D.W.I.D!
If you don't think 10mm will make a difference on a 1/10 truck, consider that it would be equal to a 10 cm change on a full size truck, which is significant
@@RoadsideRC it's a fun way to put the scale in perspective! I like to visualize the full scale equivalent when I'm working on the rc car and vice versa. I think 1/10 is a really fun scale for that reason.
Awesome my friend I'm definitely going to look into these one of the things I've been wanting to do 👍💯 Something that made a huge difference in my performance was getting rid of all the preload on the shocks and running them in a droop setup huge difference with that
Great tipps, many thanks! Thats the best way to make the suspension longer. Unfortunately the parts are no more orderable. I found similar but not so good ones on wish...did not recieve them yet, but looking forward to get them.
Hey I was wondering how you have the body mounts posted cause on the trx4 defender the body mounts are screwed with stock shock towers so I can’t use the aftermarket can you please help me
I put links in the video description: Get the parts here: - Treal Front Shock Towers for TRX4: amzn.to/2Xi9BXC - Treal Rear Shock Towers for TRX4: amzn.to/3k39f0D - Shock Keys / Adjustable Shock Mounts: amzn.to/2XkMoEe
Did the shock keys cause the top of the shock to be angled out at the top? Because of the thickness of the shock key? If so is that ok to do to the shocks? Thanks again
looking at the shock mounting parts kind of reminds me of a meccano kit bracket you achieved what you wanted to do testing it out looks like the back wheel catches the wheel arch in some places the impossible wall yep still impossible *fully watched👍Au👍left a like for you*
@@RoadsideRC thanks I’ve been tweaking it all afternoon lol found a position where the angle isn’t so bad the problem I ran into when I set the keys flat is the links on the rear diff would hit the body before the shocks fully compressed
Great video man I really like that body on the TRX4. I think I need to get another crawler I have a lot of fun with my Everest 10 but it’s just way too top-heavy.
Awesome video Troy, love the upgrades, it’s gonna bottom out a lot more now. It looks great! Literally the only thing that bothers me on my K5 trx4 is that the body rubs on the tires, and I can’t seem to find any fender accessories☹️ What servo is on yours because I wanna upgrade mine as the ONLY upgrade on mine is the esc
It has one of the ZOSKAY 25kg servos in it now, but I really like their 35kg. So far, the bottoming out is really not a problem...but it drives a lot better.
Do you know if the keys will work with factory shock mounts and give me a good amount of adjustment to play around with or will I have to buy the treal mounts to use keys in many different positions?
It is the same as the front shock being angled back. The more angle (in the same direction as the control arms) increases flex and reduces ride height. If this effect is too exaggerated, it will reduce side-hill stability.
Careful I snap my panhard off a lil thin Where part that sits on frame rails servo is a 3bro g11 samix thicker a bit more though in price nice mod Rc fam!!
I always try to put the links in the video description. - Treal Front Shock Towers for TRX4: amzn.to/2Xi9BXC - Treal Rear Shock Towers for TRX4: amzn.to/3k39f0D - Shock Keys / Adjustable Shock Mounts: amzn.to/2XkMoEe
How do you figure out what angle your keys goes an how do you know that’s gonna make sense am benefits your crawler, that’s what I’m looking for in this video I can’t seem to find a super informative one but that I feel like that’s another category or to details to go into, anyone?
My goal for doing this, is to lower the truck for better CoG, while still maintaining the same amount of flex, or perhaps even gaining some. You will notice I angled both the front and rear shocks inward more. Then, I tried various angles to change the ride height. When the key was angled up, I had basically lost all suspension travel, so moved them more downwards to increase the ride height. Does that help?
A lot of people don't realize this but if you turn the shock key's upside down you can actually make them into a adjustable body mounts so if you wanted to fit a short wheelbase or a long wheelbase JK body to a d90 or d110 chassis it will actually work with that as long as you have the right size threaded rods
@@RoadsideRC I totally agree. In fact I loved the video and the Trx performance is awesome. I was thinking on the added weight at the top of the car. How it could probably affect the sidehilling. But yeah lowering the rig helps it overall.
Una pregunta, puede tener problema con el cardán?? Puede que tengas un ángulo pronunciado y que al rotar el cardán haga juego en algún rodamiento o engranaje??
I run the 21T 550 from Holmes Hobbies. Good mix of torque and speed for me. Here is a link: www.ebay.com/itm/274360971313?hash=item3fe1303031:g:fDEAAOSwSx5etvIS&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338469288&toolid=11800&mkevt=1
@@RoadsideRC awesome! Glad you said that because that’s the exact motor I’ve been looking at! Do you have any videos showing them together in a trx4? I can only find one video on the internet and it’s a trailmaster 12t.
Basically, all of my TRX4 videos are with this setup. Here is a more direct comparison: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GA0EzkyMc1g.html
Very nice I like it alot, I was going to get her a trx4. But I decided to go with my own design Cassie and many different name brand parts. I guess the best way to describe my build is by that one song by Johnny Cash. Can anyone guess the song? Everyone have a great day and a great crawl.... here's a hint many different car parts LOL
Troy I have these on my defender , and my 2sports I love them but defently watch your pan hart there really thin and not strong I’ve had no problem but other people I know have broken theres
Idk man... This doesn't look too strong to me... You loose a shear point for the shock making it's connection much weaker as well as adding so much leverage by sticking it so far out from the shock tower that a fall or hard bump could bend it... Unless that screw holding the shock with it's now single shear point were to actually shear off... Idk. Maybe for you and the driving you do this works great. Hopefully it does. I just don't see it being stronger in any way...
Thanks for the feedback! Here is the good news: this was installed over 1-year ago...heck, maybe even longer. MANY miles of crawling and crashing later...no issues at all!
@@RoadsideRC yeah. I noticed how old the video actually was after I commented. I was gonna edit it and ask how it's held up but then I just figured you'd probably never respond anyways since it is such an old video. Lol. But it is awesome that it's held up for ya. It is a very interesting mod. That's for sure. Haha.
