Traxxas XO-1 100mph FACTORY Speed Run Challenge || Can We Achieve It! 

Nice vid Bro. I think that's why we don't see to many vid's of the X0-1.. doing 100mph. That's' why i went for the limitless runs straight right out the box.. and a lot cheaper.. I hear that the new version is much more stable with the mods that Traxxas has done. 10 out of 10 for keeping your cool...Big Thumbs' up Brother.👍🏾👊🏾

9:37 was the precursor to what happened at 11:16 You took a massive impact to the right rear wheel. I snapped a lower suspension arm (rear) colliding with the curb at relatively low speed. The replacement parts were super cheap, which hints at low quality plastic. I'd say the damage was done when you pummelled the rear end in to the curb and the application of full throttle finished the job. Interesting series though. I've got the old X01 (grey body) and never managed to get it above 90mph as it just got too squirrelly at that speed. It's been about 8 years since I've had it out the box and have a load of gyros left over from old helicopters so might spend a weekend adding one as well as throwing in some better radio gear for more granular exponential steering control. I have an X9303 JR radio system for my planes and choppers, you had any experience using air radio in ground application? Is it relatively worse range due to ground interference do you know? I appreciate you mr trial and errors. I have the same exact XO-1 for three years now and just started driving it last weekend because I was kind of scared of it. The weekend before the re-release was announced. I have yet to unlock mine. But I want to work up to it

Fun Fact: the name X0-1 was inspired by a communication company in Plano TX a couple blocks away from traxxas HQ (years back). "X0 Communications" was the business. Guess what street XO was on?... "SUMMIT ave."... Anyone heard of a little truck called the Summit? So traxxas employees had to drive down Summit Ave, and pass by XO Communications on their way to traxxas. Its like they didn't even try. lol 100% factual story.

A bro u have to let the xo-1 settle in the run then press the gas . If u watch it it will like get low then hit the gas and it will go . But the tires are terrible on that car . U really have ro get heat in them . But to be honest they will blow and come off the tire in mid run . And there she goes all over the place its no way u will get it with the wheels doin that . That car is definitely a challenge. Just remember that car came like a decade before the new cars did . It was way different then than now so of course it is gone be different than the cars now . But i love the xo-1 back then ofna gtp2e cause them to bring that car to the table. Xo will always have a place in the rc world i love my xo-1 i never sale them . Stay at it u will figure it out . Back then when they first came out there were no gyros as well . We was running them back them with no gyros 😂 so just imagine what we went threw . They was freaking 1200 bucks then 🤦🏿‍♂️. Respect ✊

I feel your pain. That car is really temperamental. Make sure any steering components are free. I’m not saying that is the problem, it’s just a problem I had and couldn’t figure out. I had some binding because of a bent part. And it wouldn’t go straight. It appeared like there was no damage. Good luck.

May need a smoother surface. That road sounds a little bumpy. If you can find a newly paved road with blacktop you should be more planted without the slight bumpyness (new word) which as it hits a slight uneven spot bopping the front even a lil and raises the front a tad is hard to keep it from flipping.

Road is dusty also. Dust get on the tires you will lose traction. Tune your suspension changed tires to some better belted tires.

Its people have run it before with no gyros and stock tires . On youtube xo-1 is a beast still . Like i said that car was hear before these new cars it was ahead of its time

Shim the control arms and all joints to get rid of free play.

Man I appreciate your efforts with that thing. But there’s a reason almost all speed run cars are built with arrmas. Traxxas has its place but speed running at it Love your videos anyway

Stiffer shock springs, turn the steering rate down and balance the tires I also use a heavier diff fluid. That vibrating sound is the wheel being out of balance which causes it to lose control,, mine tracks straight and isn’t twitchy after doing those few things

Ohhh lawwwd that car is a mess. Just start modding it brother. Seems like alot of work needs to be put in to get it to ride straight. That sux man 😖

I'm sorry your car is giving you a lot of trouble i came into my XO-1 a little worried about it's handling. I might want to consider converting mine to a 2022 version besides i kind of like the new body. I'm going to hopefully be getting my car running for the first time by September or October this year.

I'm curious if the new XO-1 is any better, as the model you are running was introduced over 10 years ago. Was any rtr achieving anything close to it at that time? Tires seem to be one of your issues are they belted? I think they advertised the new ones are.

Great one matrix, the avc on traxxas is not as good as arrma.

I haven't had too many of the problems you are having with yours as I have with mine. Having said that I haven't tried 100mph runs with mine as it isn't appropriate where I run it. I have got it up around 60, and at speed the my car seems to hunker down and get more stable. (Mines the V1 btw). You can get heavier duty springs for the suspension for these, not sure if it would help though.

Definitely needs a full aluminum/CF chassis, belted tires & DP 2mm lid but with all those additions is it still an XO-1 tho? 🤔🤷🏾‍♂️

I like watching your videos bro. Think this car just needs a little more downforce at the rear end. That will help alot. Maybe cutting the stock wing a little?

what is the problem with this car man can it be fixed or is it just simply a case of too much power and not enough chassis ?

Two things I can tell are major issues, one is your wing is out of adjustment causing the front to lift, Two is your on a bad road too many cracks and other damage, try finding a big parking lot. Next step change your gears and you'll exceed 100mph.

Hey mate, I was thinking of buying the 2022 XO-1; What’s your honest opinion of it?? When I asked my local hobby shop when he was getting the new XO-1, he told me to get an Infraction instead! I have an Infraction already (in fact I had two but I recently sold one) and it’s the best onroad RC I’ve driven. However, I have always wanted an XO-1 and thought I might splurge and buy one. But after seeing your video, I’m not so sure now 🤷🏽‍♂️

Hey Matrix...if you want a downforce trick cut a slot in the front splitter...that will create a high pressure under the front and keep it planted. If you get asetoffoams and cutout the rear you will hit 100.

Traxxas XO-1 is getting old, nothing new to this,It needs Aluminum Chassis or Carbon Fiber Chassis, Hopefully traxxas management needs upgrades this product, not close on this speed run.🤔 should people buy it again!? or save money to find something else? (Arrma and Hobao are the top brands in speed runs!😉) or go to (Raz Shifrin) for advise how to make it better and stable?

.... another thing I might inquire about. What's your take on the hardcase lipos? Most everyone I had has puffed/cracked when under extreme load in my speedrun cars. They get hot expand & the casing cracks. Just ordered a couple of the CNHL HV 120C. Hopeful to see how they hold up 🔋🤞🏽

Turn the black knob.on the rite up I don't have this problem with my xo1 like ever if the knob is turned up you need more practice with rc or a smoother road

I had a chance to get one for a good price but I turned it down because I’ve heard of the way it drives. Now seeing this vid I’m so glad I didn’t buy it. The fact that I know you can drive and it’s acting like this is crazy

Matrix RC! You did hit the curb, and never checked the car after the impact. That might by why the rear arm came apart.
