Oh my god, such an old toy, but look at those godly proportions. She poses like a beaut! Not super overdetailed, like many anime robos of today, it's got a lot of detail, but you recognize each of them, it's not like she's covered in greebles. And those hands, they don't make hands like these anymore. It very well could've looked gaudy as fuck, but no, not only did they chose a nice shade of yellow, they also gave her a good balance of other colors. Simply divine.
"like many anime robos of today" Funny, I know it's not perfect as other but I thought Tenkai Knights was cool imo since it's kinda like Gundam but in Lego style, the toys were my favorite part about it since the bricks can shapeshift into anything. I use to watch Tenkai Knights on CN when I was a kid back in 2013 lol.
@@kinnikuman-devilman_fan_2002 They look cool. Even if I don't like this busy design aesthetic. They have very clear festures that set them apart from eachother.
You show collectors a picture of those pallets and they would froth at the mouth wanting to tear through sams club looking for them. Shoot I would have bugged my parents too.
Hey so the sides of the ladder actually flip out for "base mode" so it looks more like a communications relay. Oh and the front flap of the super robot armor slots down inside the shoulder panels in vehicle mode to make the super robot head a bit more subtle.
Got to love those pop up cannons and missiles. But those hands were really the busines. I'd say she could peel a banana in seconds (no filth intended). Digging the bit of Repugnus culture at the end too.
I had a friend in elementary school who had this toy. I was always jealous because he had an Optimus and I didn't, but then I got the Armada Superbase Prime.
This set was available down here at a major department store for something insane like 300 dollars (the equivalent of a Titan class RRP). Needless to say, it did not move at all. My most prized position is a test shot of Movie Deluxe Cliffjumper, which was provided by the former TakaraTomy designer who had made Deluxe Bumblebee (and several Cybertron and Classics figures).
Brilliant figure. I have the original one without the missiles. Definitely one of my favourite Optimus Primes and I agree with you about the fact that a fire truck fits Optimus Prime's heroic character!!
Beautiful performance from Repugnus... Also, yeah, this toy is insanely fun. What uh, happened to your RID Optimus though? Looks like it took a jump in acid waste
CAR ROBOTO! CAR ROBOTO! god this thing was so ahead of its time. the single best toy in RiD 2001, and the only improvements it needs are better hands and maybe more notches in its ratcheted hips.
I have this sitting in it's box (one of the few Transformers I have still boxed) next to RID Prime and Ultra Magnus (both boxed as well I have unboxed versions posed on shelves below)
This is one of my Holy Grails . I have the red one, and I was able to find the "cab" part, but I have not been able to locate the "trailer"/"armor" yet. And since I do have to budget my bots, I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that I'm gonna have to get lucky and find it at a yard sale or a flea market.
Do you have a RID Magnus? I think you should get one to increase the playvalue of this one, especially since you like it so much. If you have it already, I'd like a video review, where you show the combined mode with this version
From what I've read, this toy is almost completely identical to the original barring the red plastic being changed to yellow. This is why it keeps the chest the same. There's a couple of other figures in the Universe line that pulled that.
Yeah, the "female" one is only the yellow spychanger version, (shouldn't the name be Optima Prime or Optima Prima or something then?) but I've always thought that if Hasbro wanted to remake this toy and add it to the original series 80s cast - this version (in yellow) would make for a great Sentinel Prime!
would you be interested in a replacement for that core red optimus? I have one that is majorly incomplete but which paint is in good shape, you could put the missing pieces from your original?
I've actually got a little secret for you, Gavin. This isn't a female Optimus Prime at all. It's Armada Hot Shot. That's why the torso chrome is still red. He was renamed "Shotimus Prime" in this form.
@@6Cthebest I'll get round to RID Megatron soon, but my current run of reviews is focused on the Animated Decepticons. Stay tuned tomorrow for Earth Mode Megatron and next Wednesday for Blitzwing.
Geewunner influence runs strong. It's the reason why the 1986 movie got shoehorned into the Studio Series, while Predacons Rising gets left out completely. It's the reason we never got another Armada Wheeljack, despite there being plenty of opportunities to make him a repaint of Sideswipe.
@@mechanwhal6590 yeah, but thats the problem, hasbro relies way too much on the geewuners and not the rest of the fandom, i hope next year with the 20th anniversary of Armada that it will change
Gavin, being unafraid to say the extremely common take that people claim is controversial to sound smarter, that Optimus works better as a fire truck, since 2021
@@TRDQ since youtube won't let me link to this tfwiki post. i quoted the info from there. I CAPITALIZED certain words describing this figure. "A Sam's Club exclusive, the Universe release of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime swaps out his red plastic for yellow and makes HIS Super Mode "bandolier" black . HE came packed in robot mode in an upright display package, which featured a sticker on the front with a hilariously mistransformed Omega Prime, advertising the toy's combining ability with the simultaneously-released, slightly-redecoed Sam's Club exclusive Universe release of Robots in Disguise Ultra Magnus. For some reason, HIS die-cast chest is still painted in the same red as the original release, and the Autobot symbol on HIS chest in Battle Mode is left unpainted. This toy was REPURPOSED as both Hot Shot's upgraded "Shotimus Prime" form and as Yellow Splendid Convoy."
First off... REALLY, this version is Female?... Hmmm interesting. And as Repugnus segment.... Psss ha HA HA HA HA HA HA HA 😂 😆 😁.... It's Februeary, not Decembember Repugnus... BHA ha 😂 😆 😁. Yet again, anouther fun rewiew, anouther fun video, AND anouther FUNNIEST Repugnus appirence since Headmaster Cons review 😁.
It's literally just a repaint of the original red version of RID Optimus Prime, and was only 'female' due to a silly retcon of the character that originally was meant to be a joke.
