I have been having a problem with my roo, but I learned some things from people on BackYard Chickens. Don’t pet the hens back, instead, pet their breast and wattles. If you pet their breast or crop area, you can see how much food they are eating and how much weight they are losing and gaining. Give the rooster treats before you give them to the girls. He will call the girls over to him and give them the treat. If he thinks you are giving them treats, he will see you as another rooster that is trying to steal his girls. Spend time in the coop, get the girls and him used to you. Just sit outside the coop for 30 mins a day, and once they get used to you and ignore you, you can love your chair in there after a few days. Make sure you have a hard book or something in case the rooster flies at you. Hope this helps!
