You have many, many choices among many brands and models when it comes to buying an e-bike. Two of the biggest brands are Trek and Aventon. We selected the Trek Townie and the Aventon Pace 500 as these two are very close in use cases and general appearance. See what you think.
If you live near Ontario CA, please come in and test ride either of these two fine e-bikes. If you live a long way away, you may want to buy the Aventon bike online. You can do that and help the channel to afford to make more videos like this if you go to the Aventon website by clicking the address below:

wife and I love our townie go's. I have step over ,she has step through. Yes, the hills are fine when you bump up PA speed.

I have a Townie go 8D and love it. I wanted to try my friend’s Aventon, but I needed a bike where the pedals are more forward due to my knees. I can’t ride a standard bike anymore because I can’t get my knee up and over while pedaling. The Townie allows me to do that, and being an e-bike, it allows me to go farther and up hills effortlessly.

Have been browsing ebikes for awhile now. The Aventon has my attention due to looks, power, and features. Nice ebike! Will continue comparing for awhile yet though. Thanks for the comparison review.

Great review. I have been shopping for a cruiser style bike as I get older and prefer comfort over speed now. I own two Trek bikes, a road and a hybrid so I appreciate the quality and the fact that the shop that carries and services them is very close to my home. All that being said, after watching your review I am pretty sure that I will go with the Aventon bike. I particularly like the upgraded drive train and brake components as well as the removable battery. Thank you for your informative and unbiased review.

the townie would be better if the battery was able to be changed better for longer distances

I purchased an Aventon Pace 500.3 two weeks ago for a hilly neighborhood. The assist modes make riding fun again. Be careful, though, it will fly downhill! 20-28 mph is fast on a bike. I upgraded my helmet, too.

A good helmet is a must on an electric bike!

Prices are backwards. Townie should be way cheaper. Cheaper brakes. Cheaper motor. No throttle. Smaller battery. Cmon.

I agree not sure why it is so expensive. Can’t sell them with Aventon right next to them

@@BumsteadsBicycles there must be a reason. Build quality maybe? Trek name?

It must be higher profit margin for Trek . I don’t see higher quality in the townie , Aventon is using name brand parts and their frames are very high quality. I don’t think Trek or Specialized want to sell in this price range. Very short sighted and they are turning away the majority of bike riders, they don’t have to make a sub 1K bike but at least be competitive with bikes like the Aventon’s

Thanks for the comparison. I was looking at the townie but I knew there had to be something else competitive. Going to check out the Aventon.

I appreciate your video comparing the Trek and Aventon. Thanks to you, I just purchased the Avento Pace 500. I absolutely love it. With the pedal forward design, I can ride and feel confident that I can touch the ground quickly if needed. I have neuropathy in both feet, so this is a big deal for me to get back to riding a 2-wheel bike. I have a trike, but felt like I had the balance issues mastered enough to do this. It's a real confidence booster.

Best Buy sells aventon. Easy to pickup. Curbside pickup.

Love both of my Aventons. 500 and Next Gen 500. Love using the throttle from a dead stand still. One of it's best attributes.

Other than the crank forward design, I see no reason to choose the Trek over the Aventon. More e bike for less money.

The crank forward is the reason i chose it because im a short person and i live in a town in a valley and it will handle all the steep hills

Always great to see your honest, no hype reviews. "Bang for Buck" sure looks like Aventon takes it again. Riders that discover using the throttle to assist from dead stop will never go back. I'm not sure why manufactures are still putting cable operated disc brakes on their lower/entry level bikes, hydraulic are just superior and really don't add that much to overall cost. Older riders with weaker grip strength and/or arthritic issues will benefit from the lighter pull of hydraulic brakes. Love Aventon !

Good video. Lets be honest though, the beach cruiser ebike (the Townie) is more of a fashion bike and not very practical. The Pace is more of a city bike with the step thru of a beach cruiser. If you are in the market for an ebike like these 2 then also take a look at the Mokwheel Asphalt/Asphalt ST. I test drove it against the Aventon Level 2 (which is a step up from the Aventon Pace 500) and liked it better. Extremely comfortable and smooth ride. Its also a step thru. It includes everything the Pace has plus fenders, rear rack and a very comfortable and smooth ride. It also has better integrated lights, very important if you ever ride at night or in heavy traffic in daylight. So many options these days that it's difficult to make a decision.

Good review. You missed a point that I think is worth mentioning . . . The Townie is made in China and the Aventon is made in USA.
@BumsteadsBicycles
@BumsteadsBicycles 7 месяцев назад
Both bikes are made in China. Aventon has offices and warehouses in California, The Electra Townie is owned by Trek bicycles in Wisconsin “family owned “. I wish there was American manufacturers, at least with the Trek company the profits stay here, the Aventon company is Chinese owned
