That they are compressed and folded into their armor has great potential. Imagine a Hell Knight getting pummeled by artillery and having a gauntlet or a greave smashed away. Suddenly, this torrent of flesh comes bulging out of the knight, similar to Tetsuo near the end of Akira. Or the Knight is shot through and through by a Communicant and one of its wings starts unfurling out of its back, all broken bones and blood-slick membranes.

An arquebus is just an early firearm. They are essentially the first handheld firearm that is actually shaped like a gun as opposed to just a cannon on a stick. They are not rifles, but instead smoothbore.

Huge Dark Souls and Elden Ring vibe, seems that the Court of the Sevent-Headed Serpent have this monastic vibe to it almost like pre-heresy Dark Angels.

What i love more than anything is the fact that if you serve Hell and Shaytan, you will not escape torment. At all. You are being punished and you will only get worse the higher you go. Because i suspect the minute you fuck up, oh that is your ass.

The one thing i like about the art style is that its not clean like most hellish depictions. Its almost like 90's Diablo. Very gritty, very dark.

Pathfinder has concepts of Hellknights, orders dedicated to brutally keeping law and order no matter the cost

Kind of a minor quip but an arquebus is not a large "rifle" because rifles have a special pattern inside of the barrel of the gun that makes the bullet spin. It actually makes the gun more accurate believe it or not. Most modern firearms have rifling. An arquebus at least the real life version is smoothbore like a musket, which just means the barrel is smooth. Just a small detail, everything about this video is top notch 👍🏼.

The look of the Hell Knight looks rad as hell. No pun intended.

The key is a common motif in Christianity, representing the keys of St. Peter or the keys to heaven itself. Most know is probably the keys in the emblem of the Papacy. It represents the church as an institution, you know as they hold the metaphorical keys to heaven for us mortals. So yeah, keys appearing on the forces of hell is not that surprising. Fun little blasphemous twist on religious iconography.

Like that there is going to be a proper demon army, since the heretics are heretic humans, and the black grail is infested humans. Also like that this looks to be hard hitting, armoured, elite melee focus, to contrast with the slower grinding swarm of the black grail. My wonder is what the cheaper bodies will be, as 'demonic court' doesn't have the obvious grunt of zombies the black grail does, and I like the non-human factions not having the standard 'trooper with gun' option.

I kind of want to see more infantry in this setting. Great ideas though.

I know when you mentioned Arquebus, you were more referring to the shape of them. But what make a rifle is the rifled barrel, which was not something you saw on early firearms such as the Arquebus. Rifling of course makes the gun more accurate, so have become synonymous with accuracy. The reason why rifling became more common later is not only due to extra work needed but also due to gunpower produced a low of fowling which make rifling work worse. Simply easier to clean a Smoothbore then a rifled barrel. There are other methods to make projectiles more accurate. Smoothbore guns are the most common form of gun on modern main battle tanks, for example. But the projectile they shoot are by themselves aerodynamic arrows and do not benefit from spin stabilization. Even back in the day, the Arquebus and Musket used ball ammunition to help with this accuracy and unlike popular ideas of these firearms they can be quite accurate in the right hands. They are in no way as good a modern anti-material rifle in accuracy. But they're not your shoot gun from your typical first person shoot game ether.
