Medieval Christendom spoke of mythical land “in the East” where a King named Prestor John was said to have ruled over a magnificent Christian kingdom “amidst the pagan and the infidels that surrounded him.” Many came to believe over time that this place was not in Central Asia but rather Ethiopia, and here in this rendition the myth makes sense - a mighty and powerful king descended from one of the Three Magi rules a Christian Empire and is a steadfast aegis against the tides of Hell.
The Solomonid Dynasty of Ethiopia. There was also the Gideon Dynasty(said be descended from the Rabbi Gideon) that ruled the Jewish population of Ethiopia and for many centuries would be tangled up in a on again off again power struggle with the ever growing Christian population of Ethiopia and the growing power of the Solomonids.
Here’s kind of an interesting idea, does true believer only mean a true believer in an Abraham faith if so, what would happen if a Hindu, or Buddhist were to hear the sermons?
I was seriously curious about non european/middle eastern factions in trench crusade, so now that i know they exist, im dying for a look at the world map!
i've been unable to chew on any more lore for days, and have been making my own head cannon Buddhist Monk faction in the Himalayas just to tide me over its awesome to see more about other places of the world, how other people are dealing with the invasion
"Intended for mature audiences" If there is something that lacks terribly nowadays is the maturity of the general audiences. Still rotting heavily for this setting though.
I see some people saying the oath of "die in battle or be condemned to hell." Is bad writing, but if the most devout warriors are joining and the devotion is only reinforced once they are full crusaders, then they probably don't care if they go to hell as long as they can fight the forces of hell more effectively before then.
I feel that perhaps it’s more of. Giant Mortar Shell, and the reason they don’t have more is essentially the resources and time wasted to make more overall make too much spending. Could also be a special demonic ritual like power, like a Tesla Cannon, that also requires too much demonic power and or sacrifices to spend.
Makes sense Mamon would go after Africa since he’s the sin of greed. I wonder if Germany will confront with machinery might while Russia will use heavy infantry. I also wonder if even the legion of the underworld could push through the tundra of Russia. I wonder also how Asia will react to hells incursion.
@scannerbarkly I thought since it was an alternate universe, they would remain Muslim since I think they didn't get their land stolen in exchange for Christianity.
@@elliotyourarobot Pretty sure Ethiopia converted to Christianity in the 4th century AD, largely for trade and cultural unification. They'd have been Christian for a few centuries by the time the Gates of Hell opened.
