Leather is not a trend. It’s classic, in timeless shapes and proportions. Those gigantic, puffy, bachelor pad -gamer-couch potato-style faux leather sofas are what need to go.
I usually disagree with at least 50% of every designer's rules, but I am sitting here beaming with delight at each thing you bring up and go over. I have JUST discovered you (this is my first of all your videos! I'm in the US and only really like UK content). I especially dislike all the black, white and all-grey interiors, how cold and sterile they feel, and was thrilled to hear you say as much. They would be fine IF they had some stunning modern Art. But they DON'T. Either they get pieces that are bland, match the furniture, or worse.... NOTHING AT ALL. When I clicked on THIS video and up you popped in your kitchen, with the gorgeous daffodils (or are they Jonquils? Or Narcissus?), the orange slices, your papaya jumper and red earrings... ZOWIE!!! I LOVE all these colours!! Not to mention the fascinating cupboards behind you. I'm very pleased to have landed here. Thank you!
Thank YOU Andrea for taking the time to watch my videos and for posting your comments on here it means a huge amount because there’s a lot of thought and work that goes into the videos so I can’t tell you how I appreciate the time and support and authenticity in your message! I’m rushing off to drop off kids but saw this and wanted to be sure to reply - thank you for the comments on what I’m wearing - yes they are daffodils although we didn’t have amazing daffodils this year but I love having them and they bring so much happiness to the house!
Hi - honestly I think it depends on what situation they are in and how that room looks and feels and I have to be so general on these chats but the reality is, every item can look beautiful and timeless in the right situation and what I am absolutely sure of, is the only thing that will never be a trend is keeping what you like and love and being true to that x
I've been diligently working, saving, and investing toward financial independence and early retirement, but the economy since the pandemic has eaten up the majority of my $3 million portfolio. I want to know: Do I keep contributing to my portfolio in these unstable markets, or do I look into alternative sectors?
I stopped listening and taking financial advise from these RU-vidrs, because at the end of the day, I end up with a bunch of confusing stocks without knowing when to take profit, In reality, all I needed was professional advice.
I’m a contractor, and my job doesn’t permit me the time to properly analyze my holdings/evaluate stocks myself, so I’ve had a fiduciary " Jenny Pamogas Canaya " actively restructuring my portfolio for the past 7 years now to match the present market condition and that’s how I’ve been able to stay afloat, knowing when to buy and sell…maybe you should do the same.
I agree with almost everything you said. I love to move things around and redecorate, but my budget, and storage, can't take it all! So, I end up mixing high-end pieces with fast-decor (!) pieces. And, after a while, I just sell the low budget ones for "nothing" (with no regrets), and keep changing my house... because I LOVE IT
This is such a great comment thank you for the taking the time to respond! The reality is we all have to do what is right for us and what we love and it shouldn’t be any other way x
Amazing!! I love the tips and hearing your opinion. But the most touching part is your daughter coming in midway through the video and interrupting you. Interiors that children and family can grow in and use is THE trend 😌
Thank you!!! My kids are always everywhere I used to remember feeling perhaps it made me look less professional and I massively regret that crazy feeling because my kids make me work harder, love harder, inspire me to progress every day and teach me more lessons than I could ever have learnt without them, I’m so grateful for this comment and for your enthusiasm and for the time to reply and give your feedback, it’s so kind as I know how busy all our lives are!
Leather is not a trend, white linen sofas are a trend and totally unrealistic, I did that stupid trend of a white fabric sofa which cost a fortune and with four kids of a different age that dated very quickly not to mention I was washing those covers every couple of days it drove me crazy and guess what we did, we went out and got a beautiful tan leather sofa in soft Italian leather and it looks and wears so well so please don’t listen to designers not all of us have cleaners who will save us from the insanity of a fabric sofa😂😂😂
Hi - I think it’s wonderful that you have a beautiful tan sofa (tan is one of my favorite colors and shades) like I said my comment isn’t for everyone and each house and room and situation is so different and unique you absolutely must do what you love and what is right for you and no trend can ever beat doing what makes you happy! I also had awful problems with light colored furniture but then when I had kids I started to upholster with performance fabric so it was super easy to clean and I’ve never had taken any of it to the dry cleaner (so far!) but it’s definitely a bit more expensive which for us was worth it because it saved the long term issues etc - that’s just my tip in case you ever wanted a light piece of Upholstery to match your lovely sofa x
Leather is a classic sofa covering. I totally disagree with this. Fabric sofas get so dirty you’ll be replacing them every couple of years. But hey, you do you.
@@tinahillsdon2776 I think that's nonsense to say she 'don't know what she talking about.' The video says 'trends to avoid,' not trends to throw away! At the end of the day it's each person's personal style or taste.
100 % agree!!!!! Anybody with mold sensitivities or Lyme disease need to have Non porous materials. Children, pets, destroy fabrics. I have always love a beautiful leather couch. This is absolutely not first time all white everything has rolled around. It goes out, just like boho has been oh so dumped. A leather couch stands test of time. Pop colorful pillows, throws will kind of be moving out of picture here soon too.
Thank you! You are so kind and yes why not!! I will try and link earrings when I can and perhaps a little on why I like them So much! I’m definitely going to be sharing the garden so I promise I will get to it x
Lol who could edit them out! They are part of what we do why we are who we are and what makes us work harder, they are the best part of the success xx thank you for joining! I hope you stay x
@@CelineInteriorDesign I’m sure you don’t need video ideas but I’m an American living in the states. My hubby is an Aussie with UK roots. It’s interesting to see how modern Australian and UK design is. I was surprised. He’s convinced me to to renovate and redecorate my Mid century modern, with 2000’s jewel tones house to modern organic. We’re still in the construction stage but I’m loving the changes so far. Anyway, I think most Americans think UK design is Downton Abbey or WWII BBC soap opera looking. But all the homes we’ve visited and hotels are so cool and eclectic. Was wondering if you’d feature something highlighting this style as it seems to be trending in America now.
Loved your points, as always... except for one... the 2nd point, where you said white look makes the home look cool, rather it should look warm... i disagree with that... homes which are situated in hotter zone, needs that cool effect... here in India, we experience 46-48 degree celsius in summer... its bloody hot in here, with humidity... there is also a city named "Jodhpur" in India which is also called Blue City because everyone have painted their home, Blue... i believe, colors have to be according to the climate, rather than trends... 😇
Superb constructive criticism! White is tricky to use as it has so many undertones, throw in some furniture and bad day/artificial lighting and it can be a disaster. High gloss is great to reflect light, create interest and contrast. But people still have high gloss mirrored furniture and kitchen cabinets…ooh, no no!
@@CelineInteriorDesign Of course, clients experience is at the core of everything! It’s very kind of you to respond, I have admired your work since your started out.
Have leather sofas ever been a trend? These are timeless. I already have one and a fabric one, but want to get rid of fabric sofa because scared to sit on it and get it dirty. I do want to replace with another leather, but I do see why it would become overkill.
I think you are probably right which is why doing a trend video is tough! Leather sofas can also be classic depending on where they are, I’m not a leather fan because I don’t love the look in my home where it wouldn’t be well suited and it doesn’t feel good on my skin, but I think the biggest and best trend of there ever was one, is stick to what makes you happy then it doesn’t matter if it is or isn’t a trend! 😊
Thank you! Well it’s only my opinion and frankly we are all allowed to have our own thoughts and feelings about the subject I think ultimately what is important is knowing what you love and sticking to that x
Hello Celine, What has happened to Smith & Noor? There has been no announcement on the instagram page, but it appears the website is down, and has been down for over a week now. Has the brand been closed?
Hi! I’m so pleased you have noticed and it makes me a little sad too, Smith & Noor was truly a beautiful brand born out of friendship, love for our industry and a desire to support British quality and factories that are becoming less and less in demand as a result of the international desire for cheaper and cheaper resulting in fast fabrics and fabrics ultimately produced elsewhere. I loved and love the brand but sadly after recent political world changes prices have gone up again and given our margins were incredibly low we found maintaining the brand unsustainable. We have taken a step back until and unless we can source at lower prices otherwise the business cannot continue to work. Thank you again so much for asking and for caring!
Thank you, Noor and Mattis for the replies. This is sad news indeed! Though, with the rampant worldwide inflation, it is not surprising that the cost of materials is unsustainable. I am hoping to see a rebirth of this brand someday.
I personally don’t love the feel of a leather on my skin so for me it wouldn’t work but I love the way it can look in some situations and I think the most important thing is to stay true to what you love
Oh no I’m so sorry that wasn’t the intention of this video! Please take the ideas light heartedly, my taste and even views are really ultimately only mine and though I share them on a very public platform everyone is more than entitled to have their own views and likes and dislikes and that’s absolutely right - the world would be so boring if we all shared the exact same taste
I love Vegan leather. I am always looking for ways to express how much I hate Earth, despise the environment and want to destroy it with plastic 😊 So glad I now have a fancy term, it helps make it look environmentally friendly❤ and veil the negative connotations of saying plastic is best, so I can feel morally superior
Ahhh thank you xx honestly my hair is always at the front I don’t know why that’s just what I’m used to, it’s either that or up in a very messy bun or rollers (most of the time lol)
@@RozanneC-u1o thank you 🙏 you gave me the biggest smile this morning! Long may it last, there are a lot of people that say social media etc is all negative but I find there is so much kindness and sensitivity on here also, so grateful thank you for your lovely words x
