The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, lifeboat crews around the UK and Ireland are ready to launch to help those in need. Whether you're stuck on a sinking ship, cut off by a rapidly rising tide, or in the water and close to drowning, RNLI crew members will drop everything to come to your rescue. 95% of RNLI lifeboat crews and station staff are volunteers.
But it’s not just lifeboats. RNLI lifeguards patrol 248 beaches across the UK and Channel Islands, keeping people safe, providing safety advice and rescuing those in trouble. Education volunteers visit schools and swimming clubs to help teach the next generation how to enjoy the water safely. And volunteer fundraisers and shop workers give up their time to generate vital funds. The RNLI is also working to help communities around the world that are most at risk of drowning.
If you spot someone in trouble in the water, call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard.

Awesome! How long are the engines able to run if the vessel is capsized? Does that affect fuel and oil flows?
@valfahr126
@valfahr126 Год назад
It automatically rights straight away, it is unable to stay capsized
@mattz1230
@mattz1230 Год назад
@@valfahr126 Yes, but even being on its side or upside down for a short time can disrupt lubricant flows and damage the engine.

@Ontel779 Год назад
@@mattz1230 they have a system so this wont happen the engine will be able to still be in operation despite being capsized even for a long period of time. Same with the D class, may be a small inflatable boat if capsized the crew can fix the engine and continue.

Why are they retiring from service

Hi Daniel, all boats have a design life. Some Trent class will be coming to the end of intended service life but then may be extended in service or sold and replaced with a different class.

The Shannon class is due to replace the Mersey class carriage-launched lifeboat, the remaining Tyne-class lifeboats, and to also replace the Trent-class lifeboats in due course. Which is unfortunate as the Trent Class Lifeboats have more then proven their worth on stations throughout the UK and Rep of Ireland over the last thirty years, and are vessel's that have never been found wanting in any situation it has found itself in. The Trent Class is basically a compressed version of the Severn Class. The Severn Class is currently undergoing whats known as the Severn Life Extention Programme. (SLEP) this involves each vessel being stripped down and completely refurbished complete with new more powerful engines and all the very latest electronics , at a cost of £1.25 million per vessel. Which will extend the life of the vessel by another 25 years or so. It's a pity the same couldn't be arranged for the Trent Class. Amazing vessel's.
