Season 1, Episode 1: Episode #1.1 Original Air Date-19 October 1997 A drama of a child murder from the discovery of the crime to police investigation, then through the ensuing trial.
I chanced upon This and it made me shudder. I’m a retired Police Officer and I was involved in the Sarah Payne case, so when I say that I know some of what they are going through, I really mean it. We searched for her all day on the Sunday and when we didn’t find her, we all as Police Officers, were in tears as we knew the chances of finding her alive, were slim.
It would horrendous doing that sort of work, dealing with the vilest of the vile. The monsters that destroy the innocence of children deserve the most punitive form of justice....
david thank you for sharing sarah payne story. i as a mother still think of the little girl like my own. my son was 14 months he went missing while his father was with him. we was at a wedding and i had a horrible feeling and went to my husband to say wheres the baby he was my 3rd child. and he goes i thought he was with you and my brothers where there all 9. i let this scream out that which haunts me today because i never knew my own reaction. i feel to the floor on the main high street crying .the pit of my stomache iwanted to die. there was over 800 people at the wedding and in the end after 20 minutes we found him at the top of the church steeple. so i salute the police as its not easy to do a police officers job. police have to deal with so much abuse its awful people show no love or support as a coumminty. they sarah payne is at a hill top buried.in the country she was missing. they said both parents jog up this hill and sneakly talk to there daughter because she is burried there. this was about 3 weeks ago on the news and documantry. i hope you can watch it on youtube. or let me know ill send you the link. and lastly thank you for protecting to serve and lookafter civilins. i truly appricate you david
Cheers for this. I was watching on another channel 😱🥵. What a mess. So i thought I'd give it a go and searched, found you Brilliant, frightening, vengeful dramatic series 🤔. Hard WATCH 😮 but worth it. MY family come FROM England. Love British DRAMA'S. Superior quality to anything and everything. CHEERS Mon Ami BOM 🌺🙏
How could anyone not like these, I watched them yrs ago & bought the dvds, now going to watch them all over again, love Linda Henry it on of the other episodes, she's amazing in anything, thank u for up loading. Does anyone know anyone has all of the messiah upload? Cheers
Thank you uploader I just stumbled across this after seeing it on TV when it first came out. This and Messiah plus Prime Suspect were and still are top notch 💯
I saw this episode when it was first aired years ago, can't remember any of it.....except when the officer breaks down when he finds the girl in the pipe, very, very memorable scene by the-later-on Max Branning
That scene is so harrowing. I was too young to watch Trial and Retribution when it originally aired. I watched it when it was repeated on Drama in 2018. It really touched me that particular part and it always will do. The mixture of elation but feeling of gutteral pain is something I can't begin to comprehend. It's raw.
I’m Australian and we often buy tv serials from England, but this is one I’d never even heard of. But I saw “Lynda la Plante” Then I realised there seems to be more than one season, so, count me in and thanks for the upload. Hope to be able to like and sub at the end.
@@soniavadnjal5609 Hilarious! My kids were watching Alien the movie when they were in their early years of primary school. Never had any problems, no nightmares nothing.
@@ingegerdtheresesorrell338 Yes, absolutely agree with you. Have you watched the one yet when the baby died? She was awful to the mother (I won’t give anything away in case you haven’t seen it)!!
Had irresponsible parents who left my 6 yo brother in charge of my 3 yo sister while they watched tv. She was run over by our family car when a neighbor boy crawled in the car on a slanted driveway. It rolled over and crushed her head. This story line hit home ( we were from a middle class family tho )
For any loving parent this whole scenario would be absolutely (& beyond) gut wrenching to live through! Ugh... Kinda makes my tummy ache just thinking of it.
watch TOO YOUNG TO DIE. deathrow. 15 YEAR old girl abused all her life by step father , and other men . Killed one and ended up on death row. she was supposed to die in the chair but had her sentence commuted to life.. I dont know which is worse. poor girl never knew real family love. i am a mother and when i watched the movie i just wanted to hold her . like i woul my daughter. 15 on death row. how cruel. her lawyer fought for her but to no avail. society has failed her and all chidlren like her. after watching that movie I couldnt sleep, i wasnt rich , didnt have everything but had 2 good parents. that was everything .. really

thanks for the review, very nice attention ) It all started with one series, someone asked to download the rest and ... here it is all seasons and a separate channel for it
These type of stories would rarely happen in reality if children weren't left alone on playgrounds etc. If one has to be told this one should NOT have ANY children. These stories are too real out there. Too many dumb azzs having children they can't pay for nor care for.
Agree. You feel for the children. Pity you can’t choose your parents, or that adults should hold a license to have kids. These cases happen daily, and when I see it on international news feeds, I always wonder how it could happen, if the parent was watching the child. It always comes down to that. Pedophiles just wait for their chance.
Eating steak and eggs with hot chips and a can of cold coke with garlic bread while watching just finished work had a shower, cold can of beer, cigarette... Thank you for the upload Loveeeeeee that UK accent I'm from New Zealand Palmerston North City
At 49:00 the senior blaming the younger officer, is not only unbelievable but out of line. Conducting a search in pitch darkness, pouring rain with hand helps torches, and 50 officers on the job, but he narrows the blame down to one officer, to blame him for missing the coat and shoe, and then tells him the girl would have been living then. If that’s not grounds for an officer to have serious mental damage, what is. There is no way this would happen.
Read all her books , great to now see them , any more of the Anna Travis series , I know it developed into a great love story , anyone know if they are available , many thanks
They didn't have a search warrant at the start. I don't think they could charge Dunne with Video theft. Also they saw the doll and kept him in the next day for murder. Someone could've planted anything in his flat, he wasn't home that Thursday.
It was not the brother's job to watch his sister. So for me it was totally wrong of the parents. There should have been a adult looking after the children.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Very gripping story. One small thing with the characters in this that didn’t make sense, was that the grandmother was well educated, refined, and well spoken, but her daughter was very rough, poorly spoken, irresponsible, blaming an 8 year old for not watching his sister, while she dismally failed her child. I can’t believe they are mother and daughter. This was the only irregularity in the show.
@@malonesinclaire9201 no, because thry don't exist. Its too far fetched. Yes, some children can be irresponsible, but are still educated, and have a good grasp on the english language. The characters did not fit well, so whoever cast this show, failed dismally. Otherwise it was good.
31:37 he was a 7 year old boy. We searched for him for two days and a night. Eventually We located his body. He had been killed by another child. To this day I remember his name.
In real life when a parent is told a child is murdered they usually collapse. They don’t usually scream. Screaming is a theatrical interpretation of how people are expected to behave. In fact the shock is so immense the parent loses all bodily control and blacks out, at least for a while.
I worked in live theatre, from the West End, Edingburgh and down to Minnack near, Penzance, also National live theatre in other Cities and towns, usually the best effect is when the Mother feints or SWOONS: But screaming? no that is ALL ABOUT EFFECT FOR TV!
Speaking from personal experience, when the police informed me of my daughter’s murder, I went stone cold silent & horribly calm as if I’d had a bucket of ice cold water chucked over me, it took days for my mind & body to catch up to the horror. I was in a state of shock for 2 years 😢
For me, it was worse to watch this as the girl is the image of one of my grand daughters. For some murders there is no doubt that slow and horrible death sentences would be appropriate.
Ms Lynda La Plante is writer, creative director, producer...etc. the spilt screens distract from the main attraction being filmed. As if to say, none of this matters n every little box is trivial? Once or twice is distracting but deviating from the scene seems more like a comic strip not a crime drama/murder mystery. This presentation seems to lack cohesion, it seems disjointed and poorly composed. Books are always better than a horrible film. I'm appalled that RU-vid would allow comments for a movie depicting a little 5yo girl, who is abducted, disrobed, tortured, sexually molested, strangled w/wire, stuffed into a drain pipe still alive for several hours as she is slowly asphyxiated!?!?! SHAME on RU-vid!!!
@Joanne Kucks, l honestly believe it was the mother's boyfriend. l felt so bad for the guy who was convicted. The brother also had reason to harm her, he hated having to watch her.
Has a "TV Appeal" by the parents of a missing child ever brought results ? Has a kidnapper ever come forward with the child, dead or alive, saying, "I was so moved by the parents' TV appeal that I just had to turn myself in" ? The parents' TV appeal is merely a device the Police use to persuade the public that they are pulling out all the stops ...
Actually the point of using the parents in a TV appeal is to humanise the child hoping the kidnapper won't kill them and its also to appeal to potential witnesses to come forward because nothing prickles a conscience more than distressed parents desperate for their child to be found alive or to get vital evidence for the case and it does work. When James Bulger was murdered many witnesses came forward that had seen James with his killers that the police were able to create a timeline of what they did leading up to them torturing him on that railway track.
@@wickedwitchoftheeast88 Are you saying that "witnesses" in the Bulger case would not have helped the police catch the killers but for the parents' TV 'appeal' ?
@@Baskerville22 I said nothing of sort so don't put words in my mouth I was explaining the point of parents doing a TV appeal and in the Bulger case the TV appeals did help because not only did many witnesses come forward saying they saw James with his killers one person went into the police station and indentified them from the CCTV images the police released to the public and from that they pulled the boys in for questioning. Look it up in the documentaries the lead investigating officer Albert Kirby says it himself although they had strong forensic evidence as well those witnesses accounts of what they saw or were told by Thompson and Venables when they challenged them helped because it put both Thompson and Venables with James at certain points in their journey from Bootle to the railway track where they killed killed him. At the time the police thought they were looking for teenagers it was only other CCTV images and witnesses that told them the boys were younger than first thought. TV appeals are important because it alerts the public to be on guard and its a means of getting witnesses to come forward with potnetially vital information
Everyone has a least one neighbour who'll point you out to the police for problems in your area...The vigilante (Hate) mentality and the innocent, go back to the caves.
The camerawork makes you feel nauseous, and the trendy soundtrack is equally irritating. Aside from which this scenario is so atypical and unrealistic -- the police never get involved when a kid is missing just a few hours.
Oh, how I have despised multi-screen fartsiness since Michaelangelo Antonioni decided to get cute wit 'Blowup' ca. 1967. Spare me tricksiness, just film the feckin' story!
Why do they make the Police look so stupid? Maybe because they are! (I know from facing them in court): And how come a copper enters the flat from the pouring rain, and his jacket is perfectly dry??? Bloody pathetic production of a very good story.
The more I watch of this, the more pathetic it get's. IF a child is annoying you with a noisy toy, you take the bloody toy off them, don't hit them. Or are parents in UK so bad? Then the kid is asking Gran where Julie is, total joke, why have they not spoken to the boy? he was supposed to be looking after her. It reminds me of the McCann kid in Portugal, I was living there at the time. Why were they never charged with 'CHILD NEGLECT''? If they had been a couple in a council flat, and GONE OUT ON THE PISS leaving a minor at home, they would have been charged, But O' no of course, the McCanns are respected Doctors.and deemed HONEST! MY ARSE we all knew on the Algarve they had either killed her, or returned to the apartment and found her dead, (her blood was on the kitchen floor tiles); then disposed of the body in Spain. (35 min drive away): Why else take 15 hours before reporting your child missing when abroad?.
I've yet 2 see part two but as it stands I do not believe 4 one minute that Michael Dunn is responsible 4 that baby's death. I could be wrong but I'm thinking he was set up. We'll see.
