They don't know that all cheese aren't the same. I'd love to see a cheese plate and show them how different the cheeses are and what they are made for. The same for roti, not all breads are the same. So glad they liked this salad as it's my favourite and I eat it often.

I would love to see that as well. Showing the difference in a very soft and mild one such as Cream Cheese, some medium-firm ones like Cheddar and aged ones like Parmesan.

Perhaps that can be something that someone funds! Being so perishable, sending it directly to them isn't feasible. I also know that different kinds of cheese can be expensive in some countries; when I lived in Japan and wanted cheese (or to make macaroni and cheese), it was incredibly expensive to buy cheddar or other types that I was used to, and the cheese available at the regular grocery store wasn't that good. However, there were specialty import stores where I could get it, just at a high price. I wonder if it's the same there.

The salad's creation is generally attributed to the restaurateur Caesar Cardini, an Italian immigrant who operated restaurants in Mexico and the United States. His daughter Rosa recounted that her father invented the salad at his restaurant Caesar's (at the Hotel Caesar in Tijuana, Mexico) when a Fourth of July rush in 1924 depleted the kitchen's supplies. Cardini made do with what he had, adding the dramatic flair of the table-side tossing "by the chef." It was made in Mexico.

ABSOLUTELY, and the original recipe is the best, as far as preparing it tableside, that was GENIUS, being as how so many French cooking techniques of the time were tableside. But, really, the BEST Ceasars are made tableside, it's really the best, purest way to respect this iconic recipe.

Other times he wants to treat constipation with Pop Rocks. It is also interesting how often Tahir will recommend a food rather than a drug. In the West, it's drugs or nothing.

I made Italian Roasted Brussels Sprouts (halved fresh sprouts tossed in garlic butter and topped with chopped raw bacon, then roasted) here awhile back - after dinner my son stood over the baking pan on the stove and kept eating the sprouts while complaining how full he was. The Japanese version of this dish (halved fresh sprouts tossed in melted butter, miso and sake, then roasted) gets similar results.

You should tell them about the difference between paneer and aged cheeses. They all seem to enjoy learning about different foods and culture, and explaining these things would help give them a good perspective on the similarities and difference between the food they're familiar with and novel cuisines. And you should tell them that the reason 'Western' cuisine is so varied and interesting is because of its multi-ethnic and international influences.

I've been to a high-end steakhouse where they bring in all the individual ingredients on a cart and make the dressing right in front of you, including shredding the anchovies. Hands down the best CS I've ever had. We asked how many times he had to make it before he was allowed to do it for patrons. He said 'About 30'. He also added that he doesn't eat CS anymore. Huh, wonder why? 😁

Mr. Rana is right. All of them are looking very healthy. I hope that when they try a new food, they're able to take either the dish or some of the ingredients home with them. Tahir mentioned a month ago that things were not well financially. I wish that I had more money. I'd love to send them and their families multi-vitamins and what we used to call K rations for emergencies. I live in the Galveston area and I keep 2 weeks food and water on standby at all times. When hurricane Harvey hit, we were right under the eye and lost power and water for a week.

Ohh what they were given was a CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD! There is a basic Caesar Salad which has no meat... just romaine lettuce, garlic croutons, grated Parmesan cheese, Black pepper, and of course Caesar Dressing... to be honest, the best way to make it is toss everything minus the croutons, into a bowl with a lid on it.. and shake it well. This way you use way less dressing and the dressing is well distributed.

With chicken is the basic Caesar Salad. It belongs in there. It's a meal in it's own. Otherwise it's just a salade with Caesar dressing. Which can be nice also, but less filling. Then it would be more like a side dish.

Last year I got some weird croutons from Israel. They looked like tiny Captain Crunch, and tasted sort of chickeny. They were good, but I dunno if they would have worked for a Caesar.

Nope. They were croutons from some Israeli company called Osem. The label was in both English and Hebrew. The croutons were somewhere between Captain Crunch and Chiclets in size. Yellow color, again similar to Captain Crunch.

I love these precious humble men. Culture, religion doesn't matter we can bond over food. I hope one day we'll see them taste their own favorite local dishes and describe the ingredients and taste. That would be very interesting. I'd like to see each ones favorite savory dish, sweet dish, favorite candy, drink etc. Perhaps show us their own typical breakfast. Lunch, dinner, snacks. I want to see what they normally eat.

It always hurts my heart whenever someone on here mentions having lighter skin as being better. Their skin is gorgeous! So many lighter skinned people get sun tans to look darker, because I think it’s just human nature to want what we can’t have. Please tell them we think they are beautiful people, inside and out, and I am jealous of their warm toned skin. I’m the color of glue and burn very badly in the sun lol. I'm right there with you - I'm as Celtic as fish for breakfast chased with a room-temperature dark beer. If I sunburn 20 times in a summer, I can eventually get the freckles to collide and sort of look like a tan, but by then it's September and I go right back to looking like Anne of Green Gables.

Lighter skin is generally associated with wealth. A poor person would be working all day in the sun, meanwhile a wealthy person will work, if they do, from an office. I don't think it had to do anything with being white. Chinese culture has the same thing, poor are farmers and fishers, so they are tanned.

I have heard plenty of folks from that region say specifically that they wished they were white or looked English. Just breaks my heart! They are beautiful just as they are.

My favorite thing is their attitude about fish. They feel that if you even HAVE a fish, you have already been blessed by God today because that fish did not have to bite your hook or swim into your net. He could have just as easily gone the other direction, so if you have the fish at all, God has already smiled upon you and now you get to go and eat the fish, which is a whole second blessing. I adore that attitude and I wish it would spread planetwide.

I feel the same way. A classic Caesar salad, without the chicken, is pretty much faultless, in the Pantheon of salads. I think the reason chicken is so prevalent is because some folks want the salad to be a whole meal. I don't want a Caesar salad as a whole meal. I want a classic Caesar salad, and then some other kind of protein which has been prepared nicely. And if that nicely-prepared thing does happen to be grilled chicken breast, I want it hot and saucy. I hope, at least, that the lettuce is romaine. I need to stop. I know, I'm a bit of a privileged snob.

Give them good ol American chicken salad, potato salad, egg salad, tuna salad, cole slaw, I can’t remember if they’ve have American BBQ! Also Korean BBQ!!! Also Johnny Marzetti (American Goulash)!!! Have they had sloppy joes? Taco salad. Korean black bean noddles (ja jajamyun) if you can get it. The black color will freak them out! 😂😂😂 Korean seafood pancakes or kimchi pancakes! BIBIMBAP!!!

The Caesar dressing is a very good example of umami because of the anchovy, which enhances the 'savory' taste, as well as the cheese. There's a mayonnaise/aioli type of flavor from the egg, oil, dijon mustard, and lemon. Romaine lettuce is very nutritious for all that it has a mild flavor. The croutons should taste of garlic and toast. A hint of black pepper should round it out.

O we have so many salads, a few in mind being: garden salad, chef salad, Caesar salad, taco salad. A chef salad would really get them going topped with Ranch dressing, my favorite. So yummy. Lettuce, carrots, red cabbage, red onion, bell pepper, black olives, ham, turkey, diced tomatoes, bacon bits, a sliced boiled egg, shredded cheese and crumbled Ritz Crackers. Guess Cucumbers if you like them, just serve with a tall glass of sweet tea on ice and it's perfection!

I had Caesar Salad prepared tableside for the first time on a prom date at Trader Vics in Chicago back in 1970. My reaction was pretty similar, but it became one of my favorites to prepare and eat.

The lack of creativity always amazes me. They get so excited when they hear that it is possible to combine food A with food B. Every time something is combined with rice they loose their mind. You sit there 18hrs a day staring at salad and chiccan and have not thought of combining it? Scary. At the end creative thinking is what drives innovation and improvement.
