Little more correction..... Thanksgiving is the FOURTH Thursday of November. That usually turns out to be the last Thursday, but every few years, there is one more Thursday in the month.

Litter is a problem over there. I’m not sure whether it’s due to lack of education, or waste management and recycling. Probably all of the above. It’s much much worse in India though. Their rivers are dumping grounds.

@@scorzi I think practically every country has “recognized” a third or more genders haven’t they? They exist. The only argument is the reality of it. Many believe that sex and gender are intertwined, and I can’t blame them for feeling that way. All I know is, gender no longer means a thing to me. Because anyone can identify as anything, and I ain’t into that. Sex does though.

The origin of "Santa Claus" was Saint Nicholas, a Turkish Bishop known for his generosity. So, Santa Claus may not be a spiritual leader, but his original, Christian baseline was. Have a good day :)

I was thinking that too, about the Santa comment 😂 He’s not exactly wrong… Santa kind of IS the top icon of our capitalist/consumerist culture aksjskdm I mean the secular Coca Cola-fied version of Santa Clause ofc. On January 1st, there is the Tournament of Roses Parade (Rose Parade). All the floats are covered in a plant material and they are amazing. I think the tribal people would enjoy seeing a Rose Parade float being built as well as seeing the actual Rose Parade.

I think they would marvel at the Tournament of Roses Parade too, as we all do each year. For those unfamiliar, this takes place in Pasadena, California, USA, on New Year's Day. Perhaps it was originally started (???) to promote college football games held on January 1st? At any rate, there's always a float for each of the teams competing in the Rose Bowl game that day. And many, many more floats, that are usually much more clever and elaborate. Many are animated with motion and moving parts, and Everything must be covered with fresh flowers or other plant material. The entries are judged on many categories, such as most beautiful, best use of flowers, best animation, best representation of this year's parade theme, etc. When the parade is over, the amazing floats are displayed for a few days afterward.

I started to tear up at the images of Thanksgiving family gatherings. This will be our first Thanksgiving together as a family after he pandemic for us 😷. I am very thankful. Thank you because this is the first time I let myself cry about the pandemic. 😄 I needed that. Most appreciated. Correction: Thanksgiving is an AMERICAN holiday celebrated on the FOURTH THURSDAY of November, though other countries have similar holidays that are celebrated at different times of the year, and not everyone treats it as giving thanks to God, though I suspect in your culture, "being thankful for what you have" and "giving thanks to God for what you have" are one and the same.

Not everyone eats turkey. Some just make a special holiday dinner with their favorite foods. There are so many ways to prepare it. You could smoke, bake, brine and bake and deep fry it. Spices used vary. Some stuff it (called stuffing or dressing) and others don’t. Could be anything they love to eat that’s extra special. Tahir: That’s Popeye the sailor man with the pipe in his mouth. It’s a kid’s cartoon character. It’s celebrated on the 4th Thursday in November. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

We have roast beef or ham. The children call it Turkey Day but don't like eating it. Adults are happy for a day off work to watch sports. Family and friends gather for eating, talking and fun. We're thankful ♥️

Thanksgiving Day in the US is the fourth Thursday of November--it is a historic event remembering the survival of the earliest Europeans with the help of the native peoples. Giving thanks happens daily, but this is related to the harvest season end and the crops grown. Earlier settlers died of starvation and disease.

In Germany we also have a Thanksgiving day. We call it Ernte Dank Fest. It's a religious holiday. Farmers bring their crops and lay them before the Altar asking the priest to bless their harvest. We all sing songs of thanks to God for blessing us with a good harvest. We don't eat turkey. Germans cook a goose or just a simple meal and we all individual say to God what we are thank full for and thank him for our blessings. I been gone from Germany for some time. Maybe by now they also eat turkey, because many Americans are stationed over there. We don't have all that hoopla like they have here in America. Thanksgiving is a somber day for us. The church carries religious statues through the streets and stop at little chapels to pray. We have little chapels all over in Germany. We light candles and pray and thank God for all his blessings. Where I grew up that region was mostly catholic. But protestants celebrate it the same way as us catholics.
