I knew it would be coming as well. People (well, trolls) always look for any opportunity to pounce, and this free Vive Pro is unfortunately an excuse to attack. I believe Tribal is honest with his reviews before and after the free Vive Pro. However, I do prefer a reviewer who has not received any sort of freebies, not because they are more honest, but because they feel the same financial pain as everyone else who buys the product, and cost is an important element to me in a review. Im not saying Tribal hasn't addressed the cost, he has, but it's still a hypothetical cost to him. The only way to change that is for him to give me his free headset and buy himself a new one. Yes, the ONLY way.

It's because you are so bloody happy all the time! Seriously, I thought you were bias as well when I first saw your Pimax review. But this was my fault entirely as I did not understand that your reactions are real, honest, first impressions of hardware and software. Also, you are very expressive, like a child first seeing and experiencing the world! You also have an upbeat channel, as you dont post very negative review which I like. We need more VR personalities like you and Tribal.
Dude, I think you are and have been very genuine. The trolls are angry because of the price (i am too). But they vent it in the wrong ways, methinks. I think that most of us DO NOT think of you as anything close to a sellout..nobody that actually watches your videos can, imo. I enjoy your vids and value your opinions, keep them coming! Just like @SweViver and several others said, this problem with toxic people out there is (and has always been) an issue to the work done by honest people. @TyrielWood also makes honest videos just like you guys about his experiences... But what people don't understand, is that HTC and other companies send out hardware to get reviews, not ass licking. Its a balance of getting PR but also getting potentially bad/constructive feedback. Serious business will send out things for free, to get a product review, not a bang for the buck review. Another person on RU-vid has reviewed this hardware in the eyes of simulator(aircraft). It's a bloody god send for him(and me, only playing simulators with my Vive(500hrs++). Going from the most analog boring small aircrafts up to actually reading instruments on normal range, easely get your bearings in a new cockpit, by just reading. I've been saving money for this day! Sadly Norwegian store is out of them for mid april... but its so awesome, can't wait! :D Keep up your awesome work!

thats why i like you tribal, because you are a very kind and honest person. i'm not watching your channel for entertainment, i mean you can be funny.. but lets be honest some people are better at that. i know if i watch your content it is honest. and you would do anything within your power to help someone. you have a growing channel, and you have a growing and very loyal community but because you are growing so fast people just join in and they don't have the connection with you that most of us have. every online VR game is the perfect example, in the beginning everyone was kind and helpfull.. now more and more people join in and some of them are just complete Aholes.. dont let them touch you because you are a tiny spot in their life/day .. don't let them be more then a tiny spot to you
I watched your original Vive content, after having pre-ordered, and found your honest appraisal of games and the hardware over the past couple of years really valuable. I bought games and accessories based, in part, on your reviews. Worth a free Vive Pro? Absolutely. Most of the Tech-Tubers I watch get plenty of things for free. Good luck to you, keep up the good work.
Amazon did me a favor by not shipping my unit so I just cancelled and going to keep using the original Vive until either the Pro's price drops significantly or until the next best headset comes out.
Well have always liked your straight forward advice. Can you see you trying your best to be impartial but if any of us got offered one for free we wouldn't say no. To be honest we need people like you to have these products so we can get an honest option of them. So wouldn't let the jealous people get to you.
People never cease to amaze me. Tribal is perhaps one of the most genuine and honest reviewers I personally follow on RU-vid. And yeah, he's enjoying the Vive Pro. Does that make him biased? No, because enjoyment is a selective feeling. Did it affect his genuinity when he reviewed the Vive Pro? No. He didn't "hide" the fact that the price is absurd. He didn't "hide" any of the down sides. He simply gave a genuine and honest opinion from his perspective - and on his perspective, he loves it, even with its downsides. Give the man a break. One can be excited about something yet still remain genuine when he reviews it.
VRMETOKYO He's using a camera that is attached to the car, so it would be very shaky. When using software to stabilise videos like this, you can pick a point that it tried to keep stable and centered. Tribal probably chose a point on his face, so when he moves his head around the video tries to keep him in the center, which makes it look like the camera is moving with him. Hope this helped!

Off camera you've always been exactly the same with me personally and generally been a top bloke in my opinion. I can see these f-ckers have got to you by throwing out stupid accusations. That annoys me both as a fan and as someone who has had the pleasure of working on videos with you. I've never posted a comment on your videos and generally don't post on youtube. I value honesty and I subscribed to you because of that. I saw everything you said about the vive pro and it seemed sincere. The price is too high and the upgrade isn't that large, but it is better. I ended up buying one and everything you said was true. It's a little nicer, but not worth the price. however I do like it and I don't regret buying it. Generally speaking, people who agree with you are silent, and the loudest people are the ones that disagree. Also even though there are far more people who agree, it appears as though most may disagree based on the comments you receive. I understand the need to explain to them, but I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Just keep up the good work. Thanks.

A long time ago I used to retail sales (AV Gear) and in a team of four, I used to make 50% of all the sales - the other three would make the other half combined! Why? Because I, like tribal, would be honest and not try to up-sell without good reason.
You were very upfront and honest about receiving your Pro for free. Furthermore, you even said you couldn't say it would definitely be worth the price they're asking; doesn't exactly sound like you're working for HTC to me. There's not much more you can do. Its not just that the HTC Vive pro is to way to expensive and a total money grab. But there is also the terrible HTC customer service. And the sweat issue relating to the Vive. Everyone now knows that the original Vive breaks very easily from sweat. And HTC changed that warranty from covering sweat damage to not covering it. After they were getting to many warranty returns due to this issue. Also the Vive pro warranty does not cover sweat damage either. They obviously know that there is an issue with their VR headsets. And not willing to fix it them self's. So they get their loyal customers to pay the bill for their sweat damaged headsets.
Maybe the real problem is that there is a handful of youtubers that do favor a brand over another and will hide most negative details in order to appease the people who give them stuff. I witnessed many reviews that some youtubers do where I just think to myself , that's not what i thought of the game. Where they are so happy and the game is so great and I get it and it has game breaking flaws and is no fun. Now what you do is mostly give us awesome ways of taking advantage of the software and I love that about this channel. But I did not agree with your review of the Vive pro . It almost felt like you were just making it seem like it was better then it is. But how do I know since I have never had a chance to test it out myself. But I do have a Odyssey and they do have the same screen . That's how I disagreed with your opinion . But all this is ,is just an option.
Linus tech tips does if all the time with LG. He mentions evening but always makes the negatives less important so the k stall review is always positive.
I have always trusted your words and personally that won't change. But personally I think that any reviewer that never feels the sting of actually buying it can ever be 100% objective. As long as it's disclosed I don't have a problem.

Also, did the trolls not listen to his actual review? He was very up front. One of the very first things he said was "The Pro is crazy expensive." and his "endorsement" was basically "If you don't use it all the time you'll probably be just fine with an HTC Vive. If you use it constantly like I do and are willing to spend a premium for maximum comfort, then maybe it's right for you." I mean, if he's just a shill he's a pretty crappy shill.
Even more than the price, I think carrying over the same fresnel lenses from the first Vive to be a disappointment. The PSVR proves that there are much better lenses out there. I'd be glad to pay the higher price for a truly upgraded product in all ways. This isn't it (based on reviews at least, I haven't used it).
Love the channel; don't think your a sellout. But Tribal, in the future please don't record videos while driving. It is dangerous, because you're driving while distracted. Yes both hands were on the wheel and you were looking at the road most of the time, but it is still distracting driving. And it's raining too! You've got a family to take care of man!
Didn't know you worked for AT&T. That's really weird because I recently went and got a new phone/plan at my local verizon store and I thought to myself the guy waiting on me looked a lot like you. All you phone salesman look alike! Also your backseat looks really uncomfortable,. Just wanted to throw that out there lol :)
You really didn’t need to make this video. Anybody with half a brain can see that you’re genuinely into Vr. As well as the fact that your reactions and thoughts come of genuine as well. Ignore haters as they mean nothing. Just do what you love and the right people will support you.
I think they want you to join in protest by boycotting and displaying more disgust of this exorbitant price. I understand you want to show the newest hardware, but we also never want to see this pricing happen again or VR in general is going to take a hit.
There's nothing wrong with getting it for free, its your job to review it. It would have been more upsetting if you paid for it. Bottom line is, releasing this product at this price point hurts the community, and the saying goes "You vote with your money". Hopefully very few people shell out money for this, to show HTC its not OK.

I’lladmit that I found your five pro videos a bit odd when it came to pricing. You seemed overly careful on how you said things. There was at least one moment where it seemed clear to me that you thought it was over priced. You just never actually say it. Being willing to spend the money is different from thinking you are getting good value. I have bought many things that are over priced in my lifetime and I’ll freely admit it. However I’m not in front of tons of people and managing a relationship with a company. That being said you aren’t treating HTC any differently than anyone else. You don’t typically crap on products or companies. Omitting information is fine as long as you aren’t saying something is great when it isn’t. I love your channel and the content you put out. I think the things you say and do should be trusted by your audience.

I don't think the price is bad. I still remember when VR units were $5,000 and had 1 game. Before everyone crying about it now even knew it existed. I think everyone is spoiled. Walking around with $800 phones in their pocket and using them to cry about $800 VR. Decent Surround Sound systems are far more expensive and you don't get it cheaper for upgrading your speakers. What world are these cry babies living in? What other industry or market in electronics has you paying less for something better?
Cant say i think your a sellout , you gave a pretty honest opinion on the pro , it wasnt all good stuff you pointed out the increased god rays , the less than stellar audio ( not bad not good audio ) It was pretty obvious you werent toeing some company line as you didnt even know all the relevant info ( aka not knowing about the hidden usb, a shill would have known all the features and would have hyped all of them and avoided or down played any faults.
The gaming community as a whole is fairly childish, and the VR community only magnifies that childishness to unimaginable levels. I have had a handful of friends want to get into VR, but once they go to places like r/oculus or r/vive they are immediately turned off. It is like the only Xbox vs Playstation days magnified by a million.
Lol. Don't even bother with them. I've seen you bash games that you received for free. You then offer the devs some suggestions, too. You get a lot more free games than you do hardware, so it doesn't make sense that you'd cater to HTC but not the game developers. I watch your game reviews before I buy any game. It is not so much that you are a sellout, it is more about how you just focused on (and the type of focus) to those that supported your opinion about the pro in your comment section and then avoided some of the issues with this headset. Many feel the vive pro was not worth the money and that you gave them a pass on their BS claims that it was for commercial/prosumer. I think i am going to come back to your vids when you can be more balanced and less like a spokesman. Good luck to you!

Really after all your videos...really a sellout.. yes the vice pro is better but its all up to the buyer.... Of course it's better is it worth 850 dollars? Everyone will be different. When the vice first came out at 900 dollars everyone said the same thing.. Everyone e just get over the price, I'm not happy with the price so I just won't buy it, but I'm not playing vr every day anymore Just be you, your followers will get it.
Haters gonna hate, man. Don't worry about it. You reviewed the device fairly. I disagree with your final conclusions; but I can't say that you weren't even-handed in your exploration of the device's features. Some people are single-issue voters and single-issue purchasers. Everyone has their OWN deal-breakers. With VR for some it's price. For some it's resolution. Some it's wireless. For some its the fact these things tings STILL don't have ventilation to reduce heating up your face and fogging the lens nor do they have built in headphone jacks. Etc. Some folks are just gonna be made that they can't have everything.
