April 17 (Bloomberg) -- Bloomberg's Sara Eisen reports that the New York Yankees paid tribute to the people of Boston affected by Monday's Marathon Bombing by adopting the red Sox tradition of playing Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" between innings of last night's game. She speaks on Bloomberg Television's "Bloomberg Surveillance."

as a red sox fan and living just outside of Boston this touched me, coming from our biggest rival this was a gift that helps alleviate alot of pain, despite having our differences we are all Americans. thank you Yankee fans out there

Yanks fan here since i could remember, I will just say that, you can't have the greatest rival in sports history without you guys :), That made me so happy to see that 'United We Stand" banner with the Yankees and Red Sox symbols hanging up on the stadium outside

Saw this live on MLB network.... it was actually funny because most Yankee fans couldn't bring themselves to sing it...LOL. They just kind of smiled and laughed through it. In the midst of a difficult time here in Boston that still brought a smile to my face. We appreciate the effort Yankee fans:) The coolest thing was definitely the side by side logos outside the entrance, that was fantastic!

As a fellow Red Sox fan, i wholeheartedly agree with you. All of MLB was very classy in standing in solidarity with the city of Boston after the bombings.

a friend and ex-co worker ( HUGE YANKEE FAN, talks smack CONSTANTLY, I MEAN CONSTANTLY about the sox) wore a Red Sox Jersey today at work out of respect, NY and Mass. both share the fear we felt and the will to over come the worst obstacles before us, We may talk a lot of crap, but its not real hate, its like two old old friends that bust each others chops but have MUCH respect for each other. at least that's how i feel about it....

Classy move, not just lending support and sympathy to those affected, but also repaying what Fenway Park did for those people in the Bronx by playing Frank Sinatra's classic "New York, New York" in the week following the 9/11 attacks.

To be honest..as a Sox fan for 40 years...this made me tear up, what the hell, it did. This was very classy and well done by our greatest and most repected rival the New York Yankees. At the end of the day it is JUST sports and there are so many things more important. thanks yanks fans.

I understand what you mean but you need to realize that they weren't doing this cuz they felt the lyrics fit the situation. Playing a song that is Red Sox tradition in the Yankee's stadium is symbolism for how the United States is UNITED. Even if there is a rivalry on the field. As a Red Sox fan...I was choked up while watching this very classy gesture. Boston thanks you! PS We will try not to beat you guys so badly next time =)

That was the shittiest "tribute" I've heard with fans singing a song that is spun to be "stopping to sing" as a tribute to Boston. Fa-Q, New York. Signed, The rest of America.

kostumeman The fuck are you even talking about? It was a tribute to Boston, which every other stadium did that year. Why is it suddenly so offensive for a baseball team, even a rival team, to play a song in tribute to another due to certain events?

+SilverTheHedgehog090 Read your response to my initial one, bonehead. Of course, in typical fashion, the networks ONLY televise when the "center of the world" NYC would do the tribute, who cares about any other major league city's stadium (as you even mention). Plus, I've been to AAA farm club games (twice being on the field to judge the singing contests) of the Braves and the Devil Rays and they actually sang the song. Not some half -pathetic kinda-singing (or caring) drivel that was recorded here at Yankee Stadium. So again, Fah-Q, New Yorkers. Go back to being dickheads to each other, getting stuck on the LIE and generally being rude-ass, arrogant Americans.

Well done to the yankees , that was a great gesture and shows that the whole of America is behind the Bostonians who are now trying to deal with this traggic act of senceless cowardness. Are thoughts are with those familys who have been affected by the traggic act

They didn't show the whole video..most of the Yankee fans didn't sing at all.. either they didn't know the song or they just don't care bout the red Sox.. City of Boston of course they care but not to their Rival tea... wrong place at the wrong time to play the Sox Anthem.. just my opinion.
