Great Job! My dad served on the Albacore from 1965-1968. He will be 81 in August. He is slipping a bit, but ask him a question about his boat? He is sharp as a tack! I was a navy baby and have never left NH. I will show him your post, and he will smile. Great Job!
Stayed in Portsmouth for work and saw passed by this sub just after 9/11. Was later fortunate to contact it on amatuer radio around 2002. Museum ship days I think was the event. Mike Ka9jmh.
Home from Aug '67-May '68 RM2(SS) aka "Hippie" (end of 4.5 yrs active duty ~ extended 6 months to have 2 yrs required for minimum sub duty) ....Great crew, Great duty.... [note: Cigar shaped hull design was forerunner of future subs ]
