What a fabulous trip report, and fantastic views of Madrid, wow!! Thanks for this video Lucas! I'm learning Spanish and your subtitles are a great way for me to keep learning and practising, thanks!!
Thanks a lot, Daniel! Recently I've decided to edit a little the sound during the engine start, so to mix the engine start sound with the safety msg and the feedback I got from many of you was very positive, so I'm planning to continue doing it. Thanks for the feedback. Have a nice weekend :)
It's weird to be delayed for an airport system once... what are the odds of being delayed for airport issues on both airports? haha Glad that you've enjoyed this Trip Report! :))
Issues like these are what make the flight more interesting. I’m sure the crew were thinking what was going to happen next. It just shows how one small issue can have such a domino effect on the rest of Flight and day. ✈️
I can imagine that you enjoyed this trip less than the usual flights with all those delays, turbulence and hard landing. But I enjoyed this video. I noticed this plane has the clearest PA system I ever heard, in real life and in video. The engine sounds nice, and today was the first time I noticed that (some) A320's have fins on their engines. Have a nice weekend.
Well, to be honest, as I didn't have any connecting flights after this one, I wasn't caring too much about the delays. I was just enjoying something different and already thinking how I was going to give all the info about what was happening on the video haha Yes, those fins are just to be more aerodynamic when the airflow that goes over the engine "hits" the wing. It depends on the engine model, but almost every airplane has something similar. Have a nice Sunday! :))
I was expecting a big drama! It was hardly a flight full of problems! A video very well put together as normal! Heathrow doesn’t have a runway 07R it’s 09R
Well, if it would have been a "big drama" you would have the exact problem on the title ;) These were at least 3 issues/problems that are very uncommon to experience on a flight. Glad that you've enjoyed the trip report anyway :)
Haha totally agree! :) Luckily I didn't have any connecting flight after this one; I was travelling the next day, so I was fine with it. some different/additional content to show :)
Awesome Report! Sad to see how many issues there were, I'm glad you got to Madrid Safely in the end. BAs COVID service is quite good I'd say again, compared to some other airlines. Funnily enough I flew this exact A321neo to Krakow back in July 2019, was great to see it in one of your trip reports :)
Thanks a lot, mate! Glad that you've enjoyed this one so much! :) Hope it brought you some nice memories from your trip to Krakow! hehe Have a great Sunday!
Hi did flow many times with BA, always FNC-LHR/LGW, very good service, compared to TAP an others "flag airliners". I think you had really bad luck on your flight mate :) Great report as always!
Well, at the moment I don't know how is TAP's onboard service... but the British Airways one is pay-per-eat, as almost every airline in Europe. During the pandemic, they've decided to give a little snack, but they will go back to the previous model as soon as the situation allows. When I flew TAP from Lisbon to Vienna I remember having a decent catering. In this flight the delays (as far as I know) were not caused by the airline, that's why I'm not complaining on the video at all :) Have a nice week!
I hope you didn't have a connecting flight after this one 🙂 The filming and the views at 8:51 - 10:53 were breathtaking. Awesome video as always. Have a great Saturday! 🙂
No, luckily I was flying the next day from Madrid (the Madrid - Gran Canaria on the Iberia Express A321neo that we have already on the channel) so I was fine with all these delays. Thanks a lot for the feedback, Eva. Glad that you've enjoyed this video :) Today I've received my new phone (Galaxy S21 Ultra) that I will be using from now for recording all the videos. The quality should improve a lot. However, I still have a lot of videos recorded with my old S9+, so for the next 2 months or so, there will be a mix of qualities every week hehe Have a nice weekend! :))
@@OnBoardHD Nice with a new phone!!! It will be super exciting to see the difference! 🙂 Honestly, I haven't felt the need at all for you to improve your video quality. But it's definitely awesome that you now have the equipment to make the videos as you want them to be. We're all looking forward to watch them. 🙂 I also hope that long-haul flights will be possible soon. I want to make one myself too again soon. But with the (non)progress at the moment it all looks depressing, at least in Sweden. I hope the phone is to your satisfaction and keep up the great work, Lucas 👍😊
@@evah6006 It was quite difficult to edit. Especially the clips in which I was walking while recording. The stabilization on current devices is extremely better. The colour quality will improve and the video will be in 60 fps, which will be good when filming objects in movement. Anyway, my S9+, the one I've been using for the last 3 years, was destroyed 3 days ago at Vienna airport. A strong gust of wind took it out from my hands and felt from 3 meters to the ground. That was the thing that made me update it before I had planned. You can check here how it was after the event: twitter.com/OnBoardHD/status/1358032011475173381/photo/1 (3rd picture).
Thanks a lot, Roger! glad that you've enjoyed it! I've just seen that you've decided to support economically the channel. Thank you. It means a lot and helps to maintain all this expensive content. Welcome! :)
Yeah!! That one was fantastic, to be honest!! The only thing that was difficult was to focus it with zoom fast enough, as the clip lasted just a few seconds. Luckily I was able to record well. :) Glad that you've enjoyed the video! Have a nice weekend :)
Thank u for video :) enjoy your trip, flyed with ba before going 2 rome , for me delayed & service on plane , so bad ):, but comming bk better flight, stay safe :) 🏴🇬🇧🙃😁
@@OnBoardHD your welcome :) i hope in 2022 might go 2 Toronto if more safe :)🇬🇧🏴🙃 where u going next ... madrid is great city i been their one time :)
Thanks, Andy! Gald that you've liked this one :) All the crew was very friendly. To be honest, the issues on this flight weren't associated with the crew (not sure what happened in Madrid). Have a nice weekend :)
Great video Lucas. For me personally I would of loved these delays and waiting on the taxiway doing some more plane spotting from the comfort of my seat ;-) I love delays so this would of got a 5 star rating from me ;-) Am I the only person who loves delays ??
Hey Brum! Thanks a lot! :) I'm not a big fan of delays, to be honest haha However, in this case, as I didn't have any connecting flight in Madrid until next day, and the delay allowed us to see a lot more planes... I was enjoying it. But in any other situations I wouldn't be happy with it, I guess haha Have a great week, Brum! :)
Thanks a lot, Martin! Glad that you've enjoyed this video and all the other trip reports that you may have watched. Thanks for your kind feedback. Have a nice weekend :)
Madrid es una ciudad fantástica. He vivido allí 3 años y no puedo tener mejores recuerdos. :)
Thanks a lot, Samuel! Glad that you've enjoyed this Trip Report! Welcome to OnBoardHD! It will be a pleasure to read your opinions in future (or already uploaded) videos. :) Have a nice weekend!
Saludos y feliz domingo :)
Oh dear. Not a good one. Shame it started here in the U.K. Mind you, we are generally better at cock ups than most other countries. The outcome of years and years of practice. Stay safe. Mick🇬🇧
Haha Well, machines/systems fail sometimes... I still don't know what happened at Madrid airport... and probably I will never know. So we are 50-50 :D Just upgraded today to an S21 Ultra for recording. The video quality should become progressively better! 4K 60 fps is coming soon to the channel! :D
I guess you are talking about the Airbus A/P or FMA. I don't have any clue about how to fly an Airbus. I can tell you a thousand things about the B737, but the A320 is a complete mystery for me :)
@@OnBoardHD haha same for me with the 737. Absolutely no clue how to fly a boeing 😝 But yes, you are right. Its a callout which also shows up in the FMA. Speed= the Airbus maintaining the current speed which is affected by cost index etc., alt*= the Airbus is in altitude capture mode and is lowering the vertical speed to hold the altitude. Next time I learn something about Boeing haha
Very good flight review of British Airways. That plane that you saw at London Heathrow that landed from Manchester (G-TTNL) was the plane that I flew on in the summer, newest A320NEO at the time!
Thanks a lot, Owen! Glad that you've enjoyed this Trip Report :) That's cool! Hope it brought you some nice memories from your trip! Have a great week!
Hello Lucas.lovely flight report mate.I Liked the A321NEO beauty and the nice flight to Madrid.Unfortunately I hear that there are a lot of problems with flights from and to UK.A colleague of mine had a flight with BA from Athens to NY via London and because of the delay he missed the flight from London to NY.Not the nicest thing to happen. These things happen of course and we have to overcome them.Have a great and safe time.
Thanks a lot, Yannis. Glad that you've liked this singular trip hehe In my case, this was the first delay I had in any UK airport in many many flights, so for now, I'm very happy happy with the punctuality of the UK airports. They are not the most beautiful ones in the world, but they work fine :) Have a nice week!
Thanks a lot, mate! Glad that you've enjoyed this trip report! :) Recently, the PCRs are becoming compulsory, so I'm doing more at the moment. Anyway, I didn't travel a lot since January, the month in which the travel restrictions became harder. Before, when PCR's were not compulsory, I was making antigen tests every week voluntarily, mainly to protect my family, as I was travelling so much. All tests till date were negative. :)
Haha It was a very interesting flight to record! Different fro the standard. It was fine for me because I didn't have any conneting flight in Madrid that day, so the delay didn't affect me. For those pax that were connecting into another flight... pfff
Very Good Morning Lucas! Great filming.....fantastic views! Also a nice airplane.....thanks for your work Lucas;) Btw....can you one time filming Oekraīne Arways? Have a lovely weekend.....until the next vid! Greetings....Betsy.
Hi Betsy! Thanks a lot! Glad that you've enjoyed this trip report! :) I don't know which airline is that one? Anyway, at the moment is almost impossible to fly anything during these 2 months of February and March. After this, things should get better... =/ Have a nice weekend :)
working in an airport myself, having problem with the checking system, we do manually check immidiatelly on the gates, boarding the passengers without losing time...
When I have watched the follow me vehicle I have thought to some immigration issue due to the problems at Heathrow (transfer to a dedicate gate where to re-check passports of the passengers). Ps: the A321Neo's climb rate is impressive and the sound engine so clean!
Despite the delay and the problems, not associated to the airline directly, I really enjoyed this flight. I think I can't recall any bad experience with an UK airline :)
Slight exaggeration to say it was "full of problems" - so you landed 2 hours late. Stuff happens. I am sure BA staff were as frustrated as you about the delays but "full of problems" - hardly! They got you there and by all accounts it was a decent flight with clear apologies from cockpit crew. I have had far far worse including a flight to Belfast that went Stansted to Belfast and then back to Stansted due to fog or a flight across Romania where the seat belt buckles were broken and the sides of the plane were visibly shaking away from the floor. That's what I call a flight 'full of problems!'
Double check-in (1h delay); missed takeoff slot (+30min stopped in front od the rwy); incorrect parking spot in Madrid (15min stopped in front of the parking) then taxi to a remote stand (another +15 min). It was a flight with problems, yes. HOWEVER, on the video I clearly say that probably none of them could be avoided by the crew. I also stated clearly that my experience was good. Hope you've enjoeyd the video. On Saturday we'll have the B737MAX on the channel! :D
Why did you have the close captioning overlap the airport and plane spotting information. That made it very hard to read both texts as they were often times on top of each other... :(
Jajaja Pues muchas gracias!
I guess you ask about the Jet2 flights? All of them were cancelled... also all the TUI UK flights I had booked were cancelled. Luckily, this time the refunds came very fast from both airlines. I'm looking forward to flying with them as soon as possible... If when we'll be approaching mid-March I see that this time looks safe to book those flights, I will do it for early April :)
Cool vlog glad to see an honest review of BA but just a small comment it is 09R not 07R on takeoff as Heathrow’s runways are 09. -27 designation but still a good vlog
Thanks a lot, Neil! Really glad that you've enjoyed it so much! I'm uploading 2 Trip Reports per week (Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning). It would be a pleasure to read your opinions in future videos. Have a nice week! :)
‘A flight full of problems’? There was a computer issue at Heathrow which required a manual check to ensure all on board tallied correctly, and an arriving stand/gate change after landing.... a fairly normal event, mainly due to the expected gate not being free as expected/planned. Again something routine and usually would be unnoticed..... the flight itself operated safely and securely....... albeit delayed..... so, a small inconvenience then, a flight with a couple of delays, not full of problems.....
I'm scheduled to go from JFK to Madrid in June, wonder if that a330-200 is the exact plane I'll be flying!?!? Assuming the trip even happens of course. 😞
@@NikonF5user Maybe it will be rescheduled again... anyway, even if you fly on the A330s, their cabin interiors are very modern as well. Enjoy your trip! :)
@1:38 A bit pedantic, perhaps but I see it all too often: Ahem --- "loose" = not tight. "Lose" means to misplace something, or miss a takeoff slot in this example!
Thanks, Jakob. Glad that you've enjoyed it :) Mainly from FR24 once I arrive at my destination with the replay function, but also from the airport screens. Cheers.
