I restored this beautiful car over 4 years. This one of one car has the original drive train and was the nicest Mustang I have done and I've done hundreds of car. It was the real deal. BTW, you are right the left taillight was wired in error, but I didn't notice it until they were driving it up on the auction block at 10pm at night.

Love the paint and that red stripe accent. Thanks for all the info. I never knew there was that much change between the 65-66 and 67-68 models. The lookup on the VIN is so important these days with at the swap outs and cloning people do. Believe it or not I talked to a young lady yesterday who bought a much newer car (I think it was a 2013 Nissan) that she shelled out and extra 5000$ simple because a unethical dealer had glued a LX or LE (I can't remember which) model badge on the back!! Luckily when people went to register their cars at the DMV (the dealer did this with multiple cars) and the vin's didn't match the model the buyer thought they had purchase the guy was busted and had to pay back a good bit of money and got some other legal action against him as well. Just goes to show always check that vin!

Most beautiful car

In the 60's we grew up in the era that defined what automotive beauty, performance, cool, and bad-ass means...to this day. Today, in a time when a manual transmission is considered old school, this timeless classic stands above the modern muscle cars, which could easily out perform it. This mustang is a member in standing of the Timeless Pantheon of Performance Cars as an original and one of the most beautiful cars ever made. If there is a heaven for car people, and assuming God still likes me, then this Mustang, and maybe the green Shelby, and one of the Brothers GTO's, Oh, and the green AAR Cuda, and maybe the white and blue Trans Am, and a Camaro SS, and a blue Cobra 289, and a '67 427 Vette... and more than a few others will be waiting for me... and everyone else who loves them. MuscleCarOfTheWeek please keep on keepin' on... with many thanks for your excellent work in preserving and showing these spectacular cars.

I had a 67 Cougar that installed a 271 HP 289 into that was slightly modified and i beat the piss out of it shifting between 6500 and 7000 rpm without ever a complaint. I maintained it well however and sold it to someone who also beat on it. The larger engines would have never taken the abuse that one did.

My father used to talk about his 64 1/2 mustang convertible with a 289 k-code. Said it was his favorite car. Unfortunately 2 telephone poles and 11 guardrail posts sent it to car heaven, thankfully my dad and uncle survived.

Even in CarCrazy CALIFORNIA. . it was extremely rare spotting convertible Mustangs in that era.... Plenty of MGs.. Sunbeams even Jaguars, even MBZ 190 convertibles..

Another thing to note about the 1967 Mustang K codes, you could order a 390 for less money, that`s why not many of the K codes were made in 1967

As a former Ford guy I was always puzzled as to why Ford didn’t put the 289/271 in more Mustangs (and Falcons, Comets, Cougars, etc). Chevy made a lot more cars with hot engines.

You guys should review the 1958 Mercury Super Marauder, if they have one. It had the best power to weight ratio of 1958.

Another mustang. Well, at least it's my favorite color and one of my favorite model years. I'd rather see it with a big block, but the 289s were alright. I gotta say though, the mustang wasn't the only car ford ever built. Do they have some fairlanes or thunderbirds?

Thank you, oh thank you, for not only saying "VIN" instead of "VIN number", but also consistently saying "RPM" instead of "RPMs". Call me a grammar Nazi, but such things get under my skin and are, to me, distracting. Way cool car, too. Rare, balanced, still easily recognized but with some unique details.
