In this video I show my process of repairing worn hammer tails on a modern triple chime clock movement. This is a common issue I run across fairly often with these type of mechanisms. If the hammer tails have this type of wear the chiming can struggle to run properly and possibly cause the chime train to stop completely. Also the lifting of the hammers can be uneven causing the tune to sound out of tempo. A simple process to repair and restore these to like new condition I hope to give you some good ideas to save you time and money. Please give a thumbs up if you like this and take a look at the other links I have provided. Alot of good, fun, educational ideas for clock repair. Have a great day, William

Great video. Very thorough to show how this is done. What' I'm really searching for is a way to address problems with the other side strike hammers. My Gustav Becker has a lot of bounce on the strike side, and I see no way to correct the problem.

William, Thanks for taking the time to post this repair. I have to say I was a little skeptical when I the title came across my feed as I have always simply replaced worn hammers. However, I can see the value in this repair for the occasional chiming clock with worn hammer tails that is no longer in production. I was also surprised to hear you say that you can do the complete repair in about 20 min. which would make it profitable and a good value for the customer. I was wondering how many times would you say the tails could be ground before there was not enough material left to contact the pins?

Great video William 👍 Do you have a video on replacing a cable and timing the up & down gears if you know what I mean. Thanks 😊

Thanks for your video lesson in hammer adjustments. I learned a lot. Do you have a video in adjusting the night time off function of a cable driven grandfather clock? If so please let me have the link. Thank you.

Hello Kusman Fernando, No I do not but thank you for asking. That is a good idea for a future video, maybe include several adjustments. I will have to think about it. Thank you. William
