I was wondering when this would come in. I feel like the K31 could be one of the best deal as the bolts sell for more than that on sites. Love the longer videos looking forward to more videos on these! I just wish I felt comfortable ordering from hunters lodge.
NO apologies necessary - I DO appreciate what video gear and lighting etc costs. It just gave me a chuckle wondering if my aging eyes were going South on me -lol @@The_Casual_Collector
@chicagorandy yeah I know what you mean lol, before I got a stand I had a gopro strapped to my head for the early videos....it'll make you motion sick lol.
@The_Casual_Collector I was going to ask you the same thing, I was like damn you have so many great projects lined up. You really got your hands full🤣, But those are the kinda projects you look forward to doing. Always pleasure to see your packages, unboxing. We'll brother I wish you a great night, take care my friend
Kinda jealous, that Carcano looks really good. I do have a T.S. , rather have a carbine. Also while expensive, there are several VZ 52 mags on the bay.
Hey casual, to be honest, I really like those longer formats. Thanks for sharing as always, I'm jealous that you have those cheap k31 actions in the US !
I appreciate that. Yeah, we're definitely blessed with parts here, speaking of which, what happened to your Spanish Model 1916 Mauser video? Also, do you still have the rifle? Left me know, I may be able to get the parts you need. Here is my channel email: casualcollector@myyahoo.com
My experience with my K31 and VZ 52 actions I purchased from them was very similar. I think the K31 action is a steal, though it ended up costing me about $350 total to make a full rifle from it. I was a little disappointed with the bore of my VZ 52, but I guess that's just the general condition of the ones coming in right now.
@@The_Casual_Collector Mine did come with a bolt inside the carrier, and an upper handguard in about the same shape as yours. I think my bore's a little worse, though. I also got a rusty bayonet and a bag with a buttplate and some miscellaneous hardware. I hesitated on getting one of those project stocks from Apex and I don't have a buttstock to use for it yet, so I haven't really gone through it closely. Just ran a brush down the bore and oiled it for now.
Brother im the same way..If you seen my videos ,you know I buy from HL and only speak with James.I do this as a hobby and on a very limited budget, thats why i use HL....I know what im getting..I dont mind the rust and grim.I dont mind the wait either because im retired....I'm working on another order with James. My 1938 Mauser K98k came out good as did my S&W Model 1905 i got from HL..The Model 1905 shoots good..I havent taken the K98k out yet..Keep up the good work,Look forward to bthe updates on your pyrchases ..🇺🇸
Yes sir, I was subscribed but for some reason wasn't signed up for notifications, so I missed those apparently, that has been fixed now lol. Those turned out really nice and you do excellent work with your revolver projects! I'm hoping to get a new 7.62x39 or 6.5 grendel barrel from the guy that makes them for Blast From the Past and rebarrel the VZ52...maybe. I'll make sure and go comment on those other two videos of yours to help with the RU-vid traffic. Thanks for watching!
if someone with a business background took over HL I think they could be much more successful their business model is not ideal.@@The_Casual_CollectorI mean no CC and no ordering thru website lol.
By the time you buy a magazine and stock parts for that k 31 you would have been better buying one in good condition from Simpson Ltd. Especially with different shipping costs. But the tinkering factor is a lot of fun
I have also ordered a K-31 from Hunter's Lodge. Who knows when it will arrive, but I also said if they were out they could send me anything. Why not. Do you plan to get a take off stock or one from Richards Microfit?
Cool, nah, I got my stock from Colorado Gun Sales, they had them for $100...it was a smoking deal, I did a video in the one I got. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-14lhMXRo-OE.htmlsi=6T0IF9ooNOu19zGI
I've been trying to get a couple of the items you purchased from Hunter's Lodge but I have finally given up. After MONTHS of trying to contact them, including countless phone calls and 4 emails I gave up. If you have some secret to contacting them, please enlighten me.
Unfortunately I don't have any secret, the only thing that has worked for me was constant calling...sometimes this can lead to 50+ phone calls in one day before I finally get James...apparently no one in the office answers the phone. James is the only person pretty much that pulls the orders, which is why I always try to speak with him.
The only thing I can recommend, that I do myself is to keep calling during the week. I was able to get ahold of James there other day about 3:30 cst in the afternoon. Prior to that I wasn't able to get in touch with anyone for nearly 3 weeks. I had to be very persistent. One day I called like 20 something times. Keep trying and when you get him ask about your order, let him know how long it's been, he will usually check on it for you.
@The_Casual_Collector i did connect with James about 3 weeks ago. He gave me a line on something else I'm now interested in, unadvertised. I also placed a second order in Oct for Spanish 1893 and 1943 Mausers. I do expect I'll get them in eventually. I try to call every couple weeks but have only got the one answer. I shouldn't complain to much as I knew what I was getting into. So hard to wait patiently though 😂
@The_Casual_Collector Hey there! Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this.... talked to James the other day and sounds like they are getting my order from Aug ready to ship, cool! Re: the other firearm i talked about. They have Fr7s and FR8s for $324.88. I just sent out payment for that so, we'll see what arrives and what condition it's in. With my luck, the next ad they have them sell for $200 😅
Id love to take a chance with HL... but 1400 thinsulate cant seem to warm my cold feet. Sweet k31 action, i need that. On the vz52 all in all you'd be missing a front stock cap, bayonet assembly, magazine, forward sling loop, inner buttplate. Mags can be had for 60-70, they're not too hard to come by. The inner buttplate seems to be virtually unobtanium; one stock I have came with one, and the other I scavenged from ebay. The best source for most of these is Blast From The Past LLC, good guy, we've done a couple transactions. He's got a site, and is on ebay and gb also. Ive resurrected two cai vz52 stocks and they came out alright. The vz52 is a journey.
You're exactly right, yep, I was aware of him. Seems like he has the corner market on VZ 52 parts, lol. I did hear RTI supposedly will be making stocks.
@@The_Casual_Collector I heard that myself, I wonder if theyre working to find a contractor to make them. I bought my last one from apex, they had maybe 11 or so long since sold out. Linford Walter is the only source of stocks that Im aware of, he makes them new, and has assorted goodies. I enjoy your channel :) thanks for taking the time
@@The_Casual_Collector My 1 and only is a VZ52/57, I passed on several VZ52s because quite honestly finding the ammo is a pain in the ass. The 52/57 in 7.62x39 is the way to go if you want to actually shoot it.
@@The_Casual_Collector Ammo isn't too too hard to get ahold of, but as far as C&Rs of the last 100 years it is the most difficult one I own to feed. I wish #PPU would engage here, but even the die makers aren't forthcoming #Lee. The dies are mad expensive- whenever you see one on gb or ebay. As the second one I built from just a barreled action I'm considering having it rebarreled to 6.5 grendel. There is talk of shortening the barrel at the breach to bring it inside x39 specs, but x39 vs x45 isnt quite 1:1. I think id rather use the insert numrich sells, but, I dunno how long it would stay in there or how to remove it should i ever want to.
Did you receive a shipping confirmation email of any kind when they sent your shipment out? Looks like I placed an order through them around the same time you did, also with a K31 receiver.
So, I'm really not sure what you're referring to here. From the standpoint of comparing this barreled action to my complete K31, they look the same, minus stock, handguard, trigger guard, magazine, lower band, and upper band.
@@The_Casual_Collector there is a circular nut looking device that sheaths over the barrel and it separates the metal from the stock so that it is a free floating barrel sorry if I’m making this confusing
@beggottenson1869 no worries. As soon as I noticed your comment, I went and grabbed my other one to check lol. Along those same lines, if Century get any G11s back in stock, I'll likely be buying one from them, I've been wanting one for a while and was told they have more of them, as well as other variant on they way in the next month or two.
