can u run 2 miners on 1 router, or is that to much, and do u think it would be more profitable, i want to set up one bobcat, high in the air outside the house, me and my dad can do it, i just want to know if i put one of the other side to would it be profitable, really love this, would really appreciate any help, thank you

Tip #2: You can have 2 hotspots at one location and both out of the relay. You might need a business ISP provider, but both of mine have no issues on the same network. Tip #3 You are correct on the antenna idea, but in your video, your 3 dBi is higher than the bobcat stock one(elevation is the key, one would say). Also, please remember that dBi is the wave shape, not the power. Potentially you have a city landscape outside of that window, and a lower dBi usually works out better in that type of scenario. Tip #4 The radius to how far you can move it is about 100 meters, not 200. You will start getting errors, and that's no fun.
@@Everythingonearth23 well it worked . I have better transmit scale 0.83 than 0.63 . You will have to be sure you are 300 meters away from other hotspots ! :)
Nice video and tricks! Are you running the same hotspot with 2 different antenna’s? I’ve heard this can’t really be done but seems like you know your stuff. Do you just use a splitter and run them in different directions?
it doesn´t work right now to update the 5 dbi antenna to 5,2 dbi. I´m only able to put insight the helium app when i use a custom antenna, full counts like 4 / 5 / 6 and so on. right now the performance is very bad i earned in 2 days only 0,009 HNT. Maybe i need a smaler dbi antenna here in the city, but I´m not sure if i reached than also Munich city that is 20km far away.
This is the video ive been looking for, deff subbed, quick question, im pretty much on top of the hill, so my transmit scale was about .50, so i moved my hotspot just like you showed in your video down 153m down the hill and the rate went up to 1.0, so instead of being on top like before im a about 50ft feet down, currently i have 35 witnesses with a 8 dbi antenna, will this effect my witnesses since im only able to see them from the top of the hill? thanks for the feedback, great stuff
Thank you so much for this video, new subie here and Im trying to learn as much possible as I know 💩 about these stuff… 😆 Question: so if 2 hotspots can be run inside the same home/apt but with different antenas wherever they have to go in order to work properly, can you set up 2 hotspots -same router and 1 antenna set- a more powerfull one I suppose. I was told by a friend it can be done, he works in communications P.S. not sure what an “ antenna set “is though 🤔
I changed my router settings and it now stands open. My problem is that i dont have a inbound signal (yet). and my miner flatlined for now 10 hours. How long will it take before every thing should be working?

Hi Dardania, i appreciate the positive feedback/vibes 🙏 if you want to move it physically you can for free but if you want to change location digitally (hex/transmit scale) you'll have to go through the app and pay the 10USD relocation fee ;)

my miner is on relay for the last 7 days even though i did port forwarding and my port is open 44158.i have fixed the static ip address but still it shows relayed?
Is any of this still relevant in year 2024? I mean other than the antenna gain. Hotspotty doesn't even show transmit scale. the wesite is completely different, and since noone is mining HNT does that mean that I have more transmit scale with mobile 5g or, am I still nerfed from all the old hnt hotspots still out there?
Smorklm, great video. I had a question. You said you have two bobcats next to each other. But does this affect the rewards negatively since Helium recommends hotspots to be 300 meters away from each other? Just trying to get clarification since I want to buy a second hotspot and put in my house. Thanks.
When you change your antenna location into another nearby hex with a better reward scale, that affects A) the rewards OTHER hotspots receive for witnessing you, and B) it affect the rewards you get for beaconing, right? I thought I does NOT affect the rewards you will receive for witnessing other hotspots, because that depends on the reward scale of the beaconing hotspot. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.
Just got my first miner it’s says syncing but connected to block chain I am receiving litte rewards and have 11 witnesses on second day of being up when will it be online stats?(on dashboard everything says online)
Thanks, I have not tried the 5G hotspots and I don't think I will because I don't see them having a superior mining advantage considering packet transfers are a fraction of a scent ;)
The location change you did on hotspoty is just a simulation, right? Is there a way I can actually digitally slightly move my hotspot to increase the transmit scale? only 160 meters would make a huge difference for me!
Yes the location change on hotspotty is just a simulation, the way to actually move your hotspot is in the app "update location", don't make it further than 200m though or you might get invalid witnesses ;)

Bro I bought a indoor 8dbi antenna but the witnesses did not increase, I only get like 3 witnesses a day but my map shows more bobcats in my area is there something I can change
If you're located in EU (868 Frequency) the max gain our antenna's can have is 4.5dBi, that's also why I run 3dbi, otherwise i'd advise you to try and get that antenna outdoors. Windows and trees are the worst for blocking RF signals. Even try taping the antenna outside a window, also did you update antenna in the app? Height and line of sight are key!
@@SMOKLM Yes I updated the app but I have my antenna in front a window I'm thinking I will tape it outside for more gain but I just set the antenna 3 days ago I thought probably it takes time to sync.
Hi Todd! Personnaly i ordered from Bobcat back in may, on way to get one quick would be Ebay or Craigslist but be prepared to pay 900 USD for it, depending on your location it might be worth it though ;)
Supposedly no, as the 5G hotspots will just transfer more data packets (fractions of a cent) but the "old" one should still earn since they make most of their income from witnessing other hotspots and PoC ;)

So I have the stock bobcat 4dbi. Will changing my antenna to a 3dbi help with my rewards ? I’m on the 4th floor of my building, and I’m overshooting all the miners near me.
@@SMOKLM thanks for responding. No I'm useing a 8 dbi antenna. I had it at ground level. Yesterday I placed it above my roof with a 20ft 400 low loss cable. I am connected with a ethernet cable. I also have the miner set up with port forwarding. I did notice an improvement with the new placement with the antenna, but it is still preforming well under comparable set up in my area. Also still says syncing. Thanks for any feedback Ps your videos are pretty good and informative long enough to be thorough but not too long as not to turn people away. Keep up the good work.
@@SMOKLM Hey sorry i didnt get a notification for some reason. It took me 7 days from set up to the time i started getting witnesses. Im assuming some of that time was due to syncing
Finally received my bobcat miner after months of waiting. I followed your tips and am stuck on the update antenna details in the helium app. My antenna is 8dbi and about 5 meters of the ground. I follow your instructions and have also looked at other videos which show the same thing your doing. I set the new parameters in the app and then hit submit, every time i do this the app crashes and the details stay the same 4dbi 0 meters of the ground. Any idea how to fix this?
@@SMOKLM thanks for the speedy response as usual :) .It has to be updated through the Bobber app and confirmed in the Helium app. This was trial and error ( a lot of error ) but its updated to the correct specs now.
@@SMOKLM Do you mean a static IP address for my home network from the ISP? I know I have to pay an extra $15 a month for a static IP from my ISP. When I run diagnostic report on my miner it shows my outbound is green but the inbound is x'd out.
That's probably because your router doesn't give static IP's to the miner and so it changes IP often and so port forwarding is useless unless you can get your router to assign a static IP to the miner ;)
@@SMOKLM oh yes i figured. Is it worth moving it i can get 0.8 transmit scale my current is 0.4. And im at the edge of an hex. So only need to move like 20/30meters. Of current location. Wish i knew this transmitscale at start
