The need for the app is really at best superficial. He never conducted market research and users' behaviors to begin with. When a person come to an airport, anything that was built with the airport infrastructure has its own sign, like bathroom, restroom, bench / bed lounge, smoking room, etc... And anything other than those are restaurants, food court, souvenirs, duty-free stuffs ,...etc and the problem is that to a customer, they make no difference. A customer wouldn't go out of their way, download an app just to find a Burger King, if he has seen a McDonald, he would come to it immediately without caring whether or not a Burger King exists. The dude create a superficial problem and solve it himself, his product serves no real purpose and at best, compare to other big one like Google Map, it's just a mere feature, a module.

I also agree with the fact that the app has no competitive advantage. Google literally does the same exact thing. He even said he used Google’s coding patterns (Or something like, I’m not into CS and coding). The fact that with his app, he’s trying to “connect” travelers is not enough to dominate the market and completely run over google.

His app communicates with the Google maps API which means it can only get publicly available info that Google already shows in their own maps. That’s part of why they drilled him about getting better info via deals with the airports.

I agree. Also, the food places are always situated near the terminals and also noone stresses over food choices prior to a flight. They'll go to Starbucks.

Yeah that's definitely one of the apps downfalls. Any app can use Google Maps API. I hope they found a way to innovate more.

He didn't even say thank you when he left. No deal or not, he should have said thank you.

He didn’t say thank you because the new generation believes in shutting out the person and going into shut down and breakdown mode. I blame the public school 🏫 system.

It's a decent idea, but with it barely off the ground, his valuation is insane. If he came in asking for 50k for 40% maybe he could have got something, maybe. Even then I'm not sure the sharks would be interested because they'll end up doing all the heavy lifting of trying to market it.
