As a Canadian I've flown with AC many times from Toronto to London and it was always on the 767 (before they got phased out) and I loved it. The 2-3-2 layout has to been one of the best.
One of the most remarkable airplane emergency landings involved a 767 owned by Air Canada. The plane was flying from Toronto to Calgary when it ran out of fuel and the pilot had to land the plane on a drag strip in Gimli, Manitoba!
I used to fly regularly from Melbourne to Sydney in the days when QANTAS were running their 767s. It would bring me a smile every time my flight was scheduled on a 767 as the leg room and space/comfort was a lot better than if we were flying on a 737-800 etc.
As always, great video, David but actually I disagree a bit with the in flight service. In my opinion Air Canada could offer more than a buy on board service on this flight. Air Canada is a Full Service Carrier and it’s an international flight which was almost 5 hours long. Anyways, it’s quite good that AC offers this on board service at least quite affordable.
Complimentary meals are never given on Transborder flights (Can-USA) on any carrier in Economy class. Most flights top at 4-5 hours max. Flights that cross the ocean are what are considered “international” flights in Canada.
@@sunny572 I agree, flew IAH-YYC on AC and they didn't even offer free pretzels on that 4 1/2 hour flight. All foods came with a cost. As far as transborder flights go, Delta probably had the best complimentary snack offerings before Covid: salted almonds, Biscoff, Kind nature bars, and savory snack mix.
I once flew to Seattle from Victoria Canada and Horizon flew us to Port Angeles where we cleared customs quickly and easily and then flew into busy Sea-Tac on the domestic side. So much less hassle and delay and I was in the right part of the airport for my onward domestic flight. Excellent system.
Oh C-FTCA reminds me of my YVR-YYZ flight in August 2014! It was also my first time having the onboard purchasing catering experience and I had some sushi and the price was quite okay for me (around C$9). In 2014 when Air Canada still operates quite a number of 763s there were 3 (or 2) cabin layouts and C-FTCA was one of those with more passengers (not very much difference though). The 763 I flied PVG-YVR with AC26 was C-GHLV and had a small section of 3-row economy class and lavatories and kitchens were available around the overwing exits rows.
Being from Canada, I really wish Air Canada would put more effort into updating their fleets or, at the very least, update their cabins. They never will, but one can hope.
But aren't they doing exactly that? They retired their A319 and 767 from passenger use. The 777 cabins were all retrofitted, meanwhile the A330 cabins are in the process of being retrofitted. Their A320s are also being retired with their A321 slated for retirement soon. And they have a number of newer 787s in their fleet along with 737MAX and A220s all fitted with IFE screens.
You mean like the brand new A220s and 737s, replete with Panasonic IFE. Or maybe the new interiors in ALL 17 A330s, (same IFE). Or maybe the 777s recently refurbished or the new 787s. The A319s, A320s and A321s of rouge all have new interiors. The only “old” interiors are the mainline A320s (just a handful left) and the A321s. Still with AVOD!
@@Taco1011 travel more. I fly AC nearly every 2 weeks and 95% of my flights are in retrofitted interiors or brand new A220, 737 max, 787, or the newly retrofitted A330 fleet.
great video as always David and nice to see you in coach class ,lol , the legroom on that 767 looked like the same as eco plus or whatever the airlines call seats with extra legroom but not a fan of the way thoses 1-1-1 are in the front ,no privacy and you'd pay a hell of a lot more ,you and Felix stay safe and carry on with the great work you do
The meal chosen (hot entree) is from whatever is left over from J and PE so not always available particularly if you’re in the very back and others have beaten you to the few left.

A very old plane with a very outdated cabin, but I still prefer this plane to the normal A320. They're not as comfortable as the new aircrafts, but it's sad to see them gone
I love the fact that people can clear US customs before arriving at the United States, which should be a system that be obligatory at all international airports with flights bound to the United States. It saves a lot of time and hassle.
Like the 747, the 767 is a magnificent aircraft. The proof of this is the enormous investment that Air Canada would have had to make to upgrade the interior to the level shown in the video. As a company, you would only make this investment on an aircraft that was completely serviceable, versatile, and reliable. The aircraft shown in the video was 21 years old and that is the midlife of most Boeing aircraft. It is truly a sad day when both the 747 and the 767 are being removed from service. Their departure is shocking proof that the Golden age of air travel by the best of Boeing is coming to an end and we are left with bad food, extremely tight seats, and other aspects of flying the opposite of which we used to take for granted as being part of the special experience of flight.
My first experience with Air Canada was from Tokyo (Narita) to Boston transit via Vancouver. From Tokyo to Vancouver, everything is included (Meal & beverage) but from Vancouver to Boston, everything are buy on board. Big surprise for me.
I rode on it in December 2019 - YYZ Toronto to MCO Orlando and and back. Last trip on a plane before pandemic. The flight to Orlando was on Xmas Day so they gave the earphones for free (like international flights). Some children got plushies too. The return flight, the earphones wasn’t free, so u had to buy them.
Very strange, a 30+ years old bird has mood lighting and PTV at each seat but still the original bins, those original bins are one of the tiniest especially the side bins
Excellent trip report Air Canada should not have retired 767 its a lovely aircraft much much better than Airbus A320 which is very noisy and crampy and especially for long haul flights ✈ they should not retire 767 indeed a good superb video with food option thanks
Bruh, thay can't just keep operating old aircraft, even more when newer options are available and even more again when those new options are a lot more efficient, they don't retire those planes just because they want to, they retire them because they are old and expensive to maintain.
A Boeing 767 owned by Air Canada. I like to call it a Gimli Glider, because there was an incident where an Air Canada 767 ran out of fuel mid flight and was forced to land on a drag racing strip…that used to be a runway, and the pilot didn’t know it was now used for drag racing!
That's funny... Only a few weeks before this was filmed did a couple of my relatives fly that exact same route on the same type of plane on the way over for a family gathering!

I traveled two years ago with a B767 Air Canada Rouge plain, Montreal - Bucharest. I was for the first time in a airplaine without any screen, any entertainment, nothing, during more than 9 hours of flight (almost 10 hours to go back)... I think only Cubana has worst...🤔
