By far the most atmospheric game ever created... And a lot of that atmosphere is owed to the soundtrack. This game will always have a special place in my heart.
@@icemanx3790 Doubtful, it's most likely another clone of diablo 3 just more "darker" as the fans wanted it however with the added season passes and shit.... Frankly, not sure if it's worth the 70 they are asking for it.
"The sanctity of this place has been fouled.." I was blessed enough to be able to play this as a child and I remember the relief I felt coming back to town for a brief respite and the dread of knowing you had to go back in. Godly Plate of the Whale..Archangel's Staff of Apocalypse..Arkaine's Valor..Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac..King's Sword of Haste..So many absolutely wonderful memories.
Me as well yes. I do well remember how the butcher stating "Fresh Meat" chasing out my brother's warrior character away from that room. As soon as my brother and me shouting in the dark living room, we were both scolded by our mother as we were Catholic Family and told us not to play the game. My brother said it was my fault, but damned.... that scary butchers room somehow scarred the sheet out of my childhood. Now already done with D2, D3, and now waiting for D4.
So creepy. So engrossing. I was totally captivated by this game when it launched. And yes the Nostalgia and the Goosebumps hello while I listen to this
Quality comment right here, same as you I couldnt stop playing this, the music, the atmosphere so amazing. I've played D2 and D3 but never got those feelings back.
Yes. You know it. Gamers making games for gamers. Not college art school grads looking to make a buck. The people who made D1 and D2 knew gamers wants and needs thats why they were able to make such enduring titles.
@@DiabloRealm "Fresh meat!" ;) Gotta admit though, the team at Vicarious Visions did a damn fine job remastering Diablo 2 into D2Ressurected, it was everything I hoped for and more.
It's crazy. It seems so small when you look at it all from above. I remember it feeling so, so much bigger as kid. It's like going back to Whiterun or Orgrimmar after you grow up.
"Thank goodness you've returned! Much has changed since you lived here, my friend. All was peaceful until the Dark Riders came and destroyed our village. Many were cut down where they stood, and those who took up arms were slain or dragged away to become slaves or worse. The church at the edge of town has been desecrated and is being used for dark rituals. The screams that echo in the night are inhuman, but some of our townsfolk may yet survive. Follow the path that lies between my tavern and the blacksmith shop to find the church and save who you can. Perhaps I can tell you more if we speak again. Good luck!"
The mood this theme conveyes... amazing to this day. Tristram is the safe hub in the game, the only place where you're safe from the horrors lurking below. But you're never supposed to feel too safe to stay a while and listen. After all, you had a quest to complete and it was only a matter of time before hell would spill into the world.
This game, and many other games (regardless of what some people who try to besmirch this medium will tell you) is one of those groundbreaking things that one carries with him/her until the very end and even beyond. This is simply a token of what people are capable of, the testament of the power of art, the ability to change others with this sincere and honest thing that came out of the artist and was molded by everything the artist loved -- and put into a piece of art of his/her own in order to further draw the circle of wonder, and passion, and creativity.
When I was young I was told a tale. Tale of Blizzard North shippiing Diablo I Beta and realizing that ppl go creazy bout it. Than deciding to finish game earlier and move some nearly ready quests to Diablo II. I was always sure its just fairy tale told by me and other diablo fans. Just recently discovered Belzebub mod for diablo 1 where all those quests, with original voice acting, are brought back to life. Izual, Andariel, Hell Forge and more. Damn, this game was one of best games of my childhood even after being stripped out of lots of its original content. Such a masterpiece
Always I listen this music... I imagine deep into an old forgoten forest at a very dark night you can feel the fresh air through your lungs as well as the wet fallen leaves under your feet, you are surrounded by a forest of branches... every shape around looks as a dark shade because it is a night with no moon, the smell of charred wood appears occasionally mixing with the environment... your heart suddenly bumps abruptly you get that feeling of cold skin and at same time you feel the warm of your very own blood going all over your body
Probably had by some corporate hiring gimmick to stand in circles k owing you were never going to meet the boss. Everyone elevating you to talk up to each other. Ppfaa
Man, the chill started running down and up my spine as soon as this started playing. This game was absolutely captivating when it came out. Yes, I played the original at Launch, I'm an old gamer. But, I never realized how perfect this dank music is for this game. Then, I also realized what brilliant guitar playing it is and how awesome it is to listen to on its own. Thanks for posting this
Me and my friend was chilling at summer camp on the Black Sea beach Krimea, we was about nine years old and he told me You know Tony, it is not a pleasure to be here, the real pleasure is to play Diablo. That how I meet Diablo for the very first time of my life.
I may hold Diablo 2 as one of my favorite games of all time but there's just something about the atmosphere setting and soundtrack of the first game that just can't be topped in my eyes
Played this game on my PSX as a kid. Found it by accident and didn't know anything about the game when I started. It was New Years eve and my little brother was watching me play. We were shaking when we realized I'll have to fight Diablo. And when I killed him it was such a wonderful feeling.
This song just hit me right in the childhood. I played the very first Diablo during the first year it was out. Great times and ever better memories. I'll never forget the very first time I heard this song and when I heard Deckard Cain say, stay awhile and listen.
Because I was actually one of the smart ones to play Diablo's series in the correct order I didn't know what would happen to Tristram when I played Diablo 1. And Unfortunately this soon to be dumpster fire for King Leoric's Son Aiden, and his Friends is not a good time well at least for them its quite the hell of a time for players though.
In 1999, when a friend came to me and saw the intro of this game, heard the music, I played SONY PS: he asked what it was and whether it was possible to play it with two people on joysticks. How many butchers and Leorics we have crumbled, starting again and again. It was an amazing time.
When my wife and I made a haunted house for the neighborhood kids, we were out in the deep dark woods, had dozens of ghosts and phantoms strung on the trees, the moonlight spilling in through the autumn leaves, and THIS song echoing through the woods as they approached. This song is so great at creating a weird feeling of eerie foreboding and beauty at the same time.
Legendary and iconic video game music thank you Matt Uelmen and good old Blizzard North. I still remember time when video games were more ART and less BUSINESS, like it is today! Shame on new Blizzard for killing Blizzard North's original Diablo 3 project! Now they want to go back with Diablo 4, but its no longer the same thing...
I had a buddy who passed from cancer who asked for this theme to be played at his funeral. One of the most fucked up, yet absolutely badass things, ever lol. Walking into a funeral home with this theme playing is a tad uhh..psh..uhh.. Freaky.
This soundtrack is so different to D3 and 4. I'm not sure what their newer team is smoking with their new stuff, not gothic and acoustic at all. This has some really late 80s vibes
I have to wonder if Tristram was inspired by an actual little town. It has its small plot of farming land, a few rivers and streams that crisscross it, its smithy, a village elder, a hermit's shack way off to the side, and even its own little humbly constructed church(which certainly stands out from a gameplay standpoint as "the place to go" with its stony frame and red hot glow). And then some wily game designer said: "Why not create a gigantic underworld beneath it that belies such self-sufficient humility and humanity?"
Man I really miss that. The idea of descending into a church that's been corrupted and turned into an annex of hell. D2 and D3 just don't capture that feeling... like, "please go out to the wilderness and fight some midgets in a cave" just doesn't hit the same as walking into the basement of a demonically infested church that's glowing with eerie red light and then getting ambushed by skeletons and zombies popping out of coffins. Sure D2 was a technically superior game, but damn D1 really nailed the atmosphere.
There's some aspects of the games that were actually inspired by real events and people so I could see that being plausible that it's based on a real town. The countess quest for example in Diablo 2 is based off the "Blood Countess of Slovakia", from the Čachtice castle.
I played this game wayyyyyy after it should have been replaced. Using Bobafetts trainer and playing multiplayer with complete randoms on Bnet. Good times.
I always wanted to just keep walking outside of the city limits forever, just to see what was over the horizon. I guess that's why D2 was so amazing, but it never quite captured the atmosphere of D1
Sure, I made it custom from the high res one found in online search. I've had some pc trouble lately amongst other things, but I'll do some digging and try to upload it as soon as I can.
I Got the entire set of diablo soundtracks save in my playlist, how can i subscribe to you channel? i mean, with the payment reward, i really enjoy it to support you keep this amazing work
I really don't know xD I've been playing D2 for over 20 years and still currently have around 100 distinct leveled and geared D2 Exp chars built which I plan on continueing to highlight. Perhaps some1 in the comments might know more about this? I'm glad you're enjoying the channel, I've been super busy lately but plan on uploading new videos in the next couple months. So keep the comments and suggestions coming and I appreciate all your support and passion for Diablo and will hopefully be back sooner than later :)
@@DiabloRealm I hope you can bring us a Extended soundtracks of diablo 2 like wildness, personally the best track of the entire Diablo series, great job doing this kind of content reserverd for a few ones, Save Tristam
Diablo 1 and 2 both have distinct soundtracks although the town of Tristram itself appears in multiple iterations of Diablo. I have other D1 music and D2 music posted here as well with timestamps for each song if you'd like to check those tracks out as well.
Still the best game in the serious and this is not nostalgia talking. Diablo 2 was great. Great music but lacked this feeling of isolation being stuck in a little village barely holding out. D2 took you to the desert and to a fucking rainforest...and let's not even talk about the disgrace that they call Diablo 3. But then again....most of the original devs had already left after D2. EDIT: I highly recommend Book of Demons. It is a Diablo 1 inspired games where you play with papercard characters. Nothing beats the original but in terms of gameplay and atmosphere this is as close as it gets.
Always thought this was a banjo with a hammered dulcimer at 3:20, had no idea this composer just rocked out straight guitar. Amazing. 1998 nostagia unlocked
