Huge torque and a thumping 1200cc engine make this bike from the Bonneville range a characterful and engaging ride.
Minimal technology apart from ride by wire throttle giving 2 rider modes, Rain and Road. Cruise control, Traction control and ABS.
This bike is ideally suited to country lanes and, with the ability to carry a pillion, company on a civilised ride to the pub on a sunny summer evening is also a possibility.

My wife and I each drive a Speedmaster and we love them. We are already looking forward to new beautiful tours this year, with this wonderful motorcycle, across Northern Germany

Triumph offer a mid control kit for the Speedmaster. If you think the Speedmaster is heavy you should try my Harley Davidson Softail. Last week I rode the new Sportster S which is supposed to be 225kgs. I then drove a few miles down the road to the Triumph garage and jumped on the Speedmaster and believe it or not, the Speedmaster felt a lot lighter than the Sportster S. Its also massively better too. Triumph have done a superb job with this bike. 👍

It is a great machine. It actually feels lighter than my Africa Twin but is 20 odd kgs heavier. All the weight is low down though which disguises it t very well. Thanks for the comments Graham. 👍

If you ride an AT, that has a excellent road presence , don’t you feel the lack of it on main faster roads, and the lack of highest position to view the traffic in front of you when you ride the speed Master on similar conditions? If you’re on a bigger bike you receive more “respect “ from car drivers than on a low structure and not so fast bike? I m not a speed maniac, but I like to know that whenever I’m riding a bike there is always the possibility to step up the pace and leave some odd traffic situations behind. You certainly experienced that, riding your África Twin. That ads a comfort and safety riding feeling that this type of bike, despite its stunning looks and pleasant riding, might be not suited to grant you?

@@Fernando90054 If you want road presence just fit a loud exhaust. In traffic, nothing gets motorists out of the way faster than a bike with a load exhaust. When I ride my Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe in traffic, it is like I am Moses as the traffic just parts in front of me, like Moses parting of the Red sea. The Speedmaster is a retro/cruiser bike, not an off road bike. You buy it for what it is. If you want to sit perched up high like on an adventure bike, then buy one of those.

@@grahamtricker4103 I know very well what the bike is but I didn’t ride one yet, and as you may have had the experience, I was asking if you could share your opinion and I got it. I must really test ride the bike. The louder pipe is a good suggestion. Every type of bike have its ups and downs. I have a BMW 1250 GSA for touring and it is very effective for that kind of use. I was thinking that the speed Master as a versatile road bike could be used, once in a while, to do some more longer rides. It’s a beautiful bike but I don’t want it just for Sunday’s morning rides or to relish my eyes on looking at it in my garage or outside the cafe. Thanks for replying 👍🏻

Triumph.. please make a 'Black' style edition for those of us who want/need less chrome, but also want/need the practicality we don't get from a Bobber.

Although I don't own it I have researched it and demo'd this newest model . Actually , has more horsepower than preceding year models because of the lighter 270 degree aluminum crank and it easily exceeds 100 mph without a problem.
@motomogul
@motomogul 2 года назад
I think on that bike the horsepower gains were singular after the alterations to the engine due to Euro 5. It went from 76 to 77 bhp. I don’t doubt it will do 100mph+ but that wouldn’t be comfortable in that riding position. Are you UK or somewhere else in the world? Be interested to know whether our Euro 5 regulations affect the same bikes in Australia or America for example? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hi Moto, I have a Shark Evo GT helmet and when I wear it while riding my Speedmaster, Sportster and Evolution Softail I get a metallic clicking sound in my ears. I can still hear it with my plugs in but not just as bad. If I wear my HJC helmet I don't get this noise so it must be something to do with my Shark helmet which can be a bit noisy at motorway speeds. Great video, thanks for doing it. Ride safe.

It’s weird isn’t it? I get it on my GS with either of my helmets with ear plugs in. It’s like a resonance rather than a sound and very similar to what I was experiencing on more than one Triumph. I now have persistent tinnitus as a result. I had a quick look online but I couldn’t find any product designed for this problem.

Pulling back the rake to 25.3 degrees must make it more stable doing low speed turns. The early Speedmasters were going for the chopper look and the rake was out at 33.3. It could trip itself up going over a loose pebble.

Hi Terry, from memory they start at £11,000. Different paint jobs are £250 extra. The Jet Black is the basic colour. Hope this helps, I’m sure your local dealer will come down a bit with enough persuasion 😉👍👍👍

Is the very low ground clearance a problem ?

Depends on whether you want to go off roading with it Bob! 😂 Seriously though, I didn’t find it so. Thing is, all cruisers have a tendency to scrape the pegs easily.

Nice review but not a bike for me, although I did own one very similar, one which I feel Triumph is missing an opportunity by not retro producing. The Triumph 900 Thunderbird Sport of around 1996-2004, in itself a retro bike with a modern twist, it was the most fun I've ever had on two wheels. Rode like it was on rails, took corners practically on its side, purred like a pussy cat when idling and roared like a lion going through the years. I did almost buy another one but when looking up HP figures it didn't seem that impressive going by today's standards, yet I had mine up to head wrenching speeds (naked) and they are holding their value. I was beggining to wonder where you'd got to, good to see more from you. I was away in the motorhome last week, far more sedate than the bikes. Going to try out the new Synco wireless mics this weekend, having tech gremlins of late 😣

I think Triumph are happy with this bike, although not my kind of bike either, as they have two models of the Rocket as well, which is a stunning bike. They should have made the Rocket sound more like this though, this sounds so much better in real life than came over on the video. I’m still around, I took some annual leave, I did take some editing to do but I didn’t think the content worthy of putting out. Work is also taking its toll. There’s another one on the editing table as we speak and that will go up next week. 👍
@michaellilley6725
@michaellilley6725 2 года назад
@@motomogul I fancied the Rocket but went with the ZZR instead, I still need to get a PC for editing, using my phone at the moment. It's a pain on the iPhone you used to be able to upload direct from iMovie to RU-vid now you need to download to the phone first. My work is appalling again, I was unallocated ( to a theatre) three days last week. The resumption of ortho was supposed to start Nov 1st, but is postponed indefinitely so they can redeploy ward staff to the Main hospital. Lists are being cancelled for the same purpose and even cancer ops. It really time the public knew the truth. Now doctors want to strike because they're being asked to do face to face consultations, absolutely shameful. I hope to get out myself today, test out the new mic. Cheers...Michael

@@michaellilley6725 Fortunately the private sector is a bit less problematic than the nhs. Still plenty of problems though. Ride safe buddy 👍

@@motomogul Yes the private sector's getting paid to do the NHS's work where I come from, meanwhile the Mothership ( Main hospital) is heamhorraging staff like Halal meat, due to bullying and bad management. Anyone might be forgiven for thinking there was an Agenda? What, like "Save the NHS"? We all know the Devil likes to turn things upside down and inside out. The first the public will know about it is when the A&E and Hospital signs start disappearing from lampposts. 🤔

I have the Speedmaster and I really like the beach bars and I'm 6'-1". I did, however, put 1" up and back risers. Everyone needs to test the bars and position for any bike.
@donaldaltman8474
@donaldaltman8474 Год назад
@@motomogul I'm tall and I made two changes that stretched out the bike for me... first, I got handlebar risers and changed to a Corbin dual seat, which is dished out and sits me about two inches further back than the OEM seat. So my legs are stretched out more, and the bar is closer to me. It made the bike a perfect fit for me at 6'-1". I think it would work for almost any sized person with the right mods.
