Triumph Bonneville T100 - my new bike !!

I don't think I have ever owned a bike for less than a year! After my final ride on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, north across the Cotswolds to Stratford-upon-Avon, I collected my brand new Triumph Bonneville T100 from Blade Motorcycles!
Although I had test rides on the T120 and the T100 a few weeks ago, my first ride on my own bike was slightly marred by my unfortunate trip up a stair in the local fish and chip shop, throwing my fish and chips up the wall!!
But that embarrassing experience aside, the difference between the two bikes was apparent from the get-go! The Bonneville T100 has a rev counter so I was able to limit the engine speed to below 4000 revs but still drive at 50-60mph whereas the Meteor's maximum speed while running in is 40mph!
Ironically the bikes are similar except for that extra bit of punch that the T100 has. Both sound beautiful but the rumble of the Triumph is even more appealing. Both bikes are perfect for bimbling around the Cotswold country lanes but only one is suitable for hitting the motorway (interstate) across the Severn Bridge after a day in the Welsh mountains.
The Triumph Bonneville T100 is comfortable and, unlike the T120 which has a tendency to be over torquey at low revs when it can be snatchy when pulling away, the T100 is supremely smooth.
Time will tell....of course I swapped bikes at the wrong time of year but hope to get a few decent rides in before winter sets in!

Thanks Peter and yes I am better now thanks - that was a year ago. But the conflicting priorities of a new bike and the lovely fish and chips caused a deterioration in my clumsiness defences hence I went “a over T” as we say here - you may be familiar with the expression? Thanks for watching!

Gorgeous bike !welcome to the Triumph family!! I think the bike has a terrific stock rumble.( I can actually feel the rumble a little bit through the phone) The meteor is only $4600 keep your expectations low and it’s a fantastic bike Cheers mate USA

Agree with all you say Allan - I would not change the exhaust on a Bonnie - stock sound is good and it would mess up the heritage of the bike in terms of look and sound. Maybe one day I will have a Meteor as a third bike (I already have a 35 year old YB100 that I rode 1900 miles around Ireland - check my playlists if you have not seen that!!

Hope your shoulder's doing good now. I wrecked one of mine on a mountain bike last Fall, and it still hurts. I hit a giant tree root that was concealed under fallen leaves, while going pretty fast down a hill. Pretty sure one of my rotator cuff muscles isn't attached. Anyway, I'm looking at the same bike. I'll get an out the door price tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
With your weight you’d want another extra two notches on the rear preload of each shock. It will normalise the steering very nicely and give you back some of your compression stroke. Try it on a twisty country road, the ride will be much more natural as Triumph intended. Smashing bike 👍.

Do you think the shoulder pain is due to change in posture with the new bike? The meteor albeit slow is very comfortable and you are sitting in the bike while the triumph you are on it. Big difference in comfort.
@RobLittleuk
@RobLittleuk Год назад
No.....actually I have a torn rotator cuff from an accident 20 years ago when I was t-boned by a woman on the school run! Apparently the injury is not bad enough to justify the pain and inconvenience of repair surgically? Trouble is, the incident with the fish and chips exacerbated the problem - seems to be improving though. Thanks for your question, though.

Let’s see, 1000 cc versus 350 cc. Yes I guess you’re going to get better performance out of the Triumph. But I think you need to look back and admit that the meteor did exactly as it was advertised. I would say the performance on it is excellent based on the size of the engine. I’m not sure what you and expected when you bought a 350, certainly hope it wasn’t that it would perform like a 1000. Enfields are wonderful if used as intended. I enjoyed your Yamaha journey. It performed wonderfully as well!!!
@RobLittleuk
@RobLittleuk Год назад
First thanks for commenting and glad you enjoyed the trip around Ireland! As far as the Meteor is concerned, I admit I got carried away with the hype and having had many bikes, thought I’d reached the time in life when power didn’t matter. Regret I was mistaken.

Who Has not Brought the " wrong" Bike at some point in their Riding Career? Rob has not said no one Should Buy a Meteor he has fronted up about it Just the Wrong Personal Choice Hell I Brought a Honda CB360 in 1975 when I should Have got an RD350 Yamaha ...☹

@@RobLittleuk well said. I’ve ridden both the meteor and classic 350 and both are perfect for what they are meant to be. I’m sorry but I was a bit put off by your word “dismal “ about its performance. Maybe a better way of putting it would be “not what I require performance”. That might not lead people away from the little 350. I’m probably a bit picky in that regard. I’m your age and like all bikes just as you do. Stay safe on your new ride, which is gorgeous! I’ve a Interceptor 650 and am looking to get a classic 350 to join it in the garage!!!

from a feeble little puny 350 to a litre class bike is a mighty good upgrade.. but I thought you desired a fast bike that would go from 60 to 120 in a blink of an eye.. was thinking you'd pick a yamaha mt10 or a kawasaki h2r.. but you picked the most feeble litre class bullock cart 🤭🤭
