The Triumph workshop manual states that working clearance on the top bush should be between .0035/.0050 thousand of an inch so although l agree the bottom bush should be a good interference fit the top bush was designed to have some play

Nice info. And maybe you answer a question for me. Does the stepped plastic spacer go on the tube with smaller inner diameter up or down? Does it matter? I notice you glanced at both ends (around 5:18) before putting it on, so obviously you think it does. But why isn't it the same (small) diameter on both ends anyway? All my manuals, shop and aftermarket, are silent on this issue.
