This video is a mashup of recent test rides where I give my first impressions of three (mostly) fantastic, beautiful, sporty motorbikes. I rode both Ducatis across local mountain passes whilst I tested the Triumph on my local twisty forest roads.
Skip to the end for a conclusion - it's pretty clear what my next bike is likely to be! Do you agree?

I have a 1200RR and it is just fantastic. Easy to ride and does exactly what you want it to. Most beautiful bike I have ever seen too! With tail tidy, a battery switch, widened foot on the side stand and every sticker removed it looks and works even better.

Why battery change ? I thought they come standard with lithium battery.

Great reviews; Interestingly, when looking for a new forever bike recently my choices came down to a used Panigale V2 or a new Speed Triple RR. I went with the RR and I’ve never looked back. It’s head and shoulders the best bike I’ve ever owned … a daily joy. Thanks again for the informative film, I very much enjoyed it.

Wow, great ! Did you get the 1200RR? It is a great machine, I wish my knees could tolerate it. Glad the video was useful!

Noo no, that was but a clumsy way of wording it 😅 I got a Daytona660 on order (cuz a2 license ect.) but because of you, the Speed Triple RR is my new dream bike! (thank you again for the great and sincerely critical video)

Hi Matt, thanks a lot for making this video. I mostly recognise what you say, as a longtime SuperSport 939 S owner -- in fact, my tail tidy broke of last year and got wedged between the rear tyre and the hugger during a ride. Nevertheless, I love the character of the SuperSport's Testastretta engine, even if it vibrates a bit much. Just like you, though, I'm pinig for a Speed Triple 1200 RR as well.

I own a Supersport S, and I am V2 and 1200RR curious, so a perfect video for me!! I'm a returning biker so have little modern experience to compare to, but I do also struggle sometimes with the quick shifter on the Supersport. I don't think it's an easy bike to ride, but the harder you ride it the more it starts to make sense. It's lovely getting a shift on in 3rd and 4th down a twisty road. That's when the 'character' turns into character from faults!! My only real complaint would be it lacks a bit of top end fizz, there's loads of grunt but it doesn't build to anything, click another gear and off you go again though. Old school v-twin character!

My first two bikes were v-twins, a 1st and 2nd gen Suzuki SV650S, I loved them at the time. I think I have been spoiled by the smoothness and extra top end of my Triumph triple, the SuperSport seemed so vibey and agricultural. The whole package just doesn't seem as well-finished or refined as the top-tier Ducati or Triumph models. I'm currently editing a video on the Ducati Streetfighter V4S and just uploaded one on the Multistrada V4S, both are a cut above, so refined and easy yet enjoyable to ride. I definitely prefer the Ducati V4 engines over the v-twins. The extra cost of the flagship models does seem to buy a noticeably better riding experience.

Totally agree ref the super sport, it’s a great looking bike but feels very budget and unrefined. The triumph is without a doubt a very high spec, and quality bike. Personally not a fan of the styling. Ref knee position would aftermarket sets fix? You’re maybe tall for a sports bike!?! Also… would be interested to see the screen/instruments and a run through of the electronics and gadgets on the triumph. (Not been out on the v2) Great vid. Keep em up!

Cheers! I only had 20-30 minutes with each of these bikes hence the lack of detail on the screens etc. I thought that the Triumph system was OK, not as good as BMW and the animations were a bit sluggish. Not a showstopper for me though. I would consider aftermarket rearsets, yes. Also eyeing up the Zard exhaust end can for the Triumph, looks much better than stock. Looks are totally subjective, at first I wasn't sure about the single headlight but I do think the bike looks better in real life than in pictures. Thanks for your support!

Thanks, it's the French - speaking part of Switzerland, Canton Vaud. I rode the Supersport on the road to St Cergue, it's a crazy one. V2 was the Marchairuz pass into Vallée de Joux where some famous watchmaking companies are (I think I turned around in the Audemars Piguet car park !). I rode the Triumph a bit closer to home near Lausanne, not mountains but some pleasant twisty forest roads. Glad you liked it!

Really enjoyed this video. Liked how you made the comparison. Are you getting a Triumph 1200 rr ?

Hi, thanks for the comment! Although I loved riding the 1200RR I was worried about the knee pain I had after the ride, I also felt like trying a different brand. So I now have a 2022 BMW S1000RR 😁 I've got a first impressions video on the channel from a couple of years ago and I've tested it several times since, I think it was the right choice. Maybe I'll get a 1200RR some day, when I can buy used and justify owning two sport bikes 😁

Currently own a soon repaired 2021 Triumph Speed Twin but also looking for a more powerful bike. The 200ps liter bikes are to much for the kind of streets im riding. The Panigale V2 really looks gorgeous and has plenty of power but so is the new Speed Triple RR which got even more top end so it seems. Its strange that the Speed Triple Top speed is so low i live in germany and riding some hardcore Autobahn time to time would be nice. Guess i have to book a testride for the Street Triple AND Panigale ;)

Having just rode it (video to come) I have to tell you to also try the Ducati Streetfighter V4S, it is crazy powerful yes but very easy and comfortable, possibly the best compromise if you only have one bike for the city, the mountains, day-long touring and the track.

I own the SuperSport S and agree, the quick shifter is trash. I never use it. Downshifting is hit or miss with that quick shifter. Hate it that is why I’m trading it in for the Triumph 1200 RS.

Did you buy one? The twins require a bit more rider involvement. V2s a great bike, supersport, well, maybe not, the triumph is great too. I'm deciding between the triumph and the v2 atm but only for track. I think the v2s a better track bike but I've always had Triumphs. Hard to walk away from a triple.

I was so close to buying the Triumph but I had to admit to myself that the level of knee pain I had after only 20 minutes was not sustainable. I had the opportunity to buy a new in stock 2022 BMW S1000RR, in my preferred colour, at a good price. After 8800km I am happy with the decision, it´s an awesome machine and I wanted to try a true superbike before getting too old! I have kept my Street Triple 675R though, for the winter and for commuting through the city.
