Triumph Stag Radiator & Engine Flush - Video 1 

Thanks Tony this video is really informative regarding a rad flush. I was given to believe that doing a rad flush on a Stag was akin to practicing the dark arts. This very straight forward and has a tone of information. Looking forward to the next video.

Good job, it's such an easy job to do which most people don't do themselves. I can't imagine a garage doing this as well as you are doing it. I still do myself, but flush both ways, and remember to have your heater set to the hot position in the car. My car has a thermostat housing on the end of the engine block above the clutch house. It has five hoses fixed to it, once the housing is removed, I flush each hose in turn. Well good job your doing, keep it up and keep safe and have fun.

Hi TR, I've completed a flush through a few times over the years on 'The Red Devil' and most times you get the brown water. Both way flushing is good as it gets into all the channels. I bet you will find a little more brown water when you use the rad flush. Good luck. Bob

noticed that you used tap water through a garden hose then ionised water and antifreeze which means about 5 litres of tap water will remain in the block. Should remove the block plugs One on either side .Paul. SOC

I agree with others, remove both the block plugs and flush the block on both sides. You can also strain the drained off coolant from the block and radiator, to give you an idea of how much rust/muck might have been lurking in there. When I had an alloy rad. fitted, Faversham Classics thoroughly back flushed the engine block, and they identified the thermostat was the wrong one for a Mk.2. Antifreeze concentration is 33%, water 66%.Mine uses greeny/blue antifreeze.

Don’t forget to take the block drain plugs out each side and have a poke around with a bit of stiff wire and flush the block.

I’m trying to do my reverse flush as shown in the video. I haven’t got the carbs on at the moment as their getting reconditioned. The flow of water after putting the hose on is very slow. Why is this, anyone got an idea?

When you say you blew into the system, how and with what?
