I agree. That year Street Triple is the nicest one. You know, I own a 2003 Speed Triple. I've let my father take it out a bunch of times. He's 70 years old and has no trouble on it at all. If I were you, I'd just keep your Street Triple and enjoy it till you pass on. That's what I'm going to do with my Speedy and I'm 41. Take care of yourself, Flyer!
@@TheMissendenFlyer I own a 2015 Street Triple R. I find that the seat always pushes me forward towards the tanks and as a results on long rides it feels like wedgie. Did you ever that issue?
I bought a used 2015 Street Triple R in part based on your review. ‘If TMF likes it enough to own it, it must be good.’ Other RU-vid reviewers seem to unanimously agree. That Daytona DNA really shines through. I love the 2015’s black, grey, red color scheme and ABS. The smooth power delivery and size are also perfect for me at 5’10.”
When I saw this posting it put a smile on my face because your prior videos helped me decide about a year ago to buy a ST3R, and have been enjoying your great work and content (as well as the bike) ever since. Cheers TMF!
Love Street Triples. I think they capture exactly what the spirit of Triumph was in the Meriden heyday: light, fast and fun to ride. Mine even had a tiny oil leak! Your particular example is a credit to you TMF. The pride in ownership comes through loud and clear.
Lovely street triple, I’m with you on the gold wheels, show me a bike with gold wheels and I’ll put pen to paper!!. Regards the headlight, try micro mesh cloth, using various different grades and loads of water. I think it was made to remove scratches from aircraft windows instead of replacing them. Used it on a front indicator that got scratched up, came up better than new. 👍
I put 37,000 km on my 2007 in 3 years (48,000km total). This was in 2014 to 2017. The only thing was the throttle bodies started to drift and I had to replace a flasher relay, but otherwise, solid as a rock. Triumph make excellently engineered machines that are very robust. Also, their service interval is 10,000km and not 6000 to 8000 like most bikes. Superb bikes.
MY2010 here with the same colour scheme.Arrow cans still going strong. I'm keeping her because it's just so much fun to ride in the Adelaide hills in South OZ. Cheers
I think the colour scheme is fantastic and really gives the bike that limited edition look, the way the bike gleams is a real credit to you Mr Flyer. You can never tier from hearing that beautiful sound coming out from those pipes!
Great bike, one of the most gorgeous engines ever made and simplistic motorcycling at its best. Just get on and go! For me, the best version of one of the best naked bikes ever made. Glad you’re still enjoying it!
It's funny. I hated the headlight revision in 2012. The dealership at the time tried to pull a fast one on me and swapped out the round-style headlight I ordered with the hawk eye version. They weren't so happy when I asked for my $9000 deposit back. Found a 2009 Street Triple R on the used market a week later that I still own to this day. Don't think I'll ever sell it really.
Over 6 years where does the time go!!! Blimey! I enjoyed the vlog changing the Street's oil (using Mrs Flyers best food bowl) and "very tight" oil filter Nice bike, nice location & top bloke! Cheers TMF
Just wanna say - thanks to your fantastic videos I was persuaded to get myself a 2013 Street Triple R a couple of weeks ago... and OMG what a fabulous beast of a machine she is! I had a Sprint ST 1050 until a couple of years ago, but the Street Triple is just in a different league... honestly can't think how a better bike could be made!! So thanks again, one very happy viewer here!!
Great video TMF! You were one of the deciding factors review wise for me buying my Street triple R 2013 back in August last year. I then had to wait four months until I could do my das course before I could ride it, 12.5k miles later and I'm still loving it like I did since day one! So thanks to yourself and SMO et al for the great content.
Thankyou ....I just bought a first generation bug eye one .Its everything I want from a bike .Cheers for your thoughts as they echo mine .Happy riding .
I’ve always been conflicted on the headlights. Sometimes they look like bug eyes, but other times they look beautiful. I do like the Street Triples a lot and would love to add one to the garage one day.
I can't stand the huge headlights on the tiger anymore. And to think i almost bought a blue rodie on a 14 plate with the extra painted blue beak for £70 extra
Great review as always! I’ve still got mine as well, same exact model, year and paint scheme. Still love the black and gold. And every time I toy with the idea of trading her in, I take her for a ride, she wins me over again and I think, maybe next year...
Can't wait to get my Fisher Price triple on Friday hehehe 😂. Thanks for these update videos, great to get confirmation on them being a long term investment!
The headlight assembly is super easy to pop off. You'll be able to figure it out no hassles. Just pop the guys open and give it a clean I guess. Worse case you can change the clear glass bits which shouldn't be too expensive. But a rub should sort the headlights out for you!
Yo! Quick shout out to you from NZ where I’ve just completed 1100km on my 2012 Street R. I bought it after watching your videos on it and I absolutely LOVE it. Cheers 🙂
I think it reassuring to hear that with so many choices bike wise out in the market place that you still feel your Street Triple is worth hanging on to. It is so easy these days as soon as a new model comes out to feel the need to change (the new R1250GS for example). It’s getting to the point that bikes are becoming like mobile phones when sometimes you need to stop and ask your self does the new model actually do any more than my current one and if it does can I really justify the extra expense? As always TMF another quality review and good to hear the love for your Triumph 👍
I was seriously down when I parted with my FireBlade 😢 I am 62! yesterday I purchased 2015 street triple Diablo red from 84 year old guy in Wales 🏴 2.800 miles from new three triumph stamps and 1k of extras plus paddock stands cover and charger! rode back from wales and missed all the rain 😅 What a bike you don’t need anything else will keep this one forever I have found love again 🥰 out of the summer house now 😂 great review TMF I bought one 🤙
Hi TMF, it appears like you I get nearly as much pleasure cleaning my bike as riding it. After many years without one I bought a new Kawasaki SX Tourer in March 16 and I absolutely love it. I always enjoy your reviews, keep it up 👍
I have Just bought a 2012 675R, 13000 miles. in pearlescent white with a quick shifter. I have had a couple of Triumphs in the past, Sprint 1050, Bonniville se 863, loved them all but the Street Triple is a fantastic bike so balanced out and is amazing what a great bike.
Just revisited your take on the Street Triple.....Whats not to like eh!..I own a 2014 Black & Red R model which I bought in 2016 from a local dealership in Alicante. it was used by the owner, only had 4000 kilometres on the clock,.... like new. never regretted this purchase. It's everything you describe.... and more..I swopped the tyres out from the originals to Diablo Rosso 2s for a bit better wear. Here in Spain we don't have the same problem with corrosion caused by salted, wet and 'cruddy' roads so my bike still looks like new. I've enjoyed 49000 trouble free kilometres on her...Great Bikes .... Greetings from España
I have an identical bike, seriously mods and all, it’s like they were separated at birth and funnily enough I also bought mine from a dealer in Kent in June 2012. I’ve also ridden countless other machines over the last 6 years but none has come close to making me want to part with the STR. It’s an absolutely incredible motorcycle.
I bought mine in August 2012 and like you I can’t fault it probably one of the most fun bikes I have ever owned it still puts a smile on the dial every time I ride it.
What a bike! I bought my 2015 R last year when I returned to biking after a 30 year gap - it’s been awesome. Use it for fun and commuting, never misses a beat and filtering is so easy I’m amazed how great it’s been - 5000 miles on can’t get enough😀👍🏻
TIL retaining rings are called circlets over in the queen's country. Cracking review for a cracking bike! Looking to pick up a latest gen RS soon, wanted to come check out what the development has been like over the years! You're right that the price has gone up quite a lot--and the changes to seem incremental at first glance--but it's such a polished machine that it's worth it for me right now. Also comes with most of the extra goodies that you had to spec out or get aftermarket on your machine. Thanks!
Hey TMF! Not sure if I told you already but recently passed my A2 and purchased a beautiful Yamaha Tracer 700 in matt black. Already done a great roadtrip from Lyon to Antibes and back along the Route de Napoleon. In Feb! Pretty chilly in parts. Although I've got 2 years of A2 to endure, I'm already looking at bikes I can get in 2022! Crazy. I think I'll keep the Tracer as my day to day as it's so versatile, fun and easy to use. But I sense a Triumph coming.....Will keep you posted. Cheers! PS your Tracer review helped me in my choice!
What an immaculately kept bike. Can't remember what vid it was, but you were in close reviewing something & behind you was this beauty. I couldn't believe how immaculate the bike was. I had to rewind & watch the vid again, as I was so focused on the trumpy! Nice one Mr Flyer. Trophy bike I reckon. Cheers groover ;-)
It's a lovely bike indeed! Glad to see it holding up so well. Makes you wonder if you actually need to buy new model years of bikes, same as you said about the new GS. I went to test the new speed and street triple a few weeks back, and I finally get all the hype! (Although I really love the look of the Speed a bit more, it's frame and dual exhaust is wonderful!) Oh, and btw, I've enjoyed your content more than I ever did Roald Dahl's, so I'd consider you the Great Missenden ambassador!
I absolutely share you opinion on my 2011 (2012 model) with double Leo Vance exhaust slipons however :) I have been recently thinking to put my DB killers in as well. I really love the pops and bangs but with my 4th year of owning the bike I started to look for something more subtle. My bike is also in perfect condition, it looks like brand new after a proper wash even though it has 35k KM of mileage. The finish on the bike still says quality! The only grain of salt I have with mine is the headlight's performance in the dark. I really think to try some LEDs out to improove the night time riding. Other than this its a lovely piece of British engineering and an absolute delight to ride everyday!
Your Triumph looks fantastic a real credit to the way you have looked after her. Previously owned a Speed R which I loved, would definitely consider the Street as a future second bike along with the Daytona.
Morning Mr Flyer, I did indeed find the new Street Triples great bikes with very willing engines and fantastic handling and brakes. But on the older bikes with their rawness, I felt that I was riding the bike and not the other way around. Definitely a keeper!
Scott Peterson Hi Scott, I’ve currently got a 2013 street triple r, thinking of changing it next spring, torn between new street triple, Kim 790 or new speed triple. R u pleased u made the swap and how does it compare.
I tested the Street Triple RS and the Speed Triple RS. Loved the Street RS... then after about 500 yards on the Speed Triple RS... no-brainer. It's everything the Street RS is but just MORE of it. I have 3400+ miles now and it is just an incredible machine. I could not be happier with the bike. I love it.
Nice review TMF, off topic but I recall speaking to another famous Missenden resident many years back. Ron How former England speedway rider, he owned The Crown Inn in Little Missenden, happy memories !!
Have the exact same bike but with mivv cans(stupid loud lol). Also a single seat cowl. Didn't ride it for over two years as I couldn't let off my 1190. Took it for a twist before I put it up for sale. Low and behold its still here. Will never think of selling the little thing ever again. It's a keeper. Especially in them colours.
Great to hear you still love it even after riding so many new bikes. I love my RS but it's my only bike so I've covered a couple of hundred miles less than yours has done but I've only had it 6 months 😁
I bought a 2012 r from a ex bike mechanic with full history for £4000. Bargain of the century and I love it so much. I was even surprised how loud it is with standard cans but they will get changed for extra noise
Top drawer TMF and the bike still looks great. I sold my 765R recently as I'd only done about 400 miles on it over the year, instant regret. I'm on the hunt for a replacement and I'll give the 2011-2012 models a look this time. Thanks again.
Dont ever sell it, it has been fabulous so keep it forever!!! Why i have 6, love adding/modding all my bikes, but when you try to sell nobody wants to pay for what you have in it. So just keep it
I know! I thought it was just me. It's not the looks that is weird. I find the big gap between the front and the headlight is a bit too much. Any ideas why they did that? Looks weird
Went from a 2015 675RX to a 2018 765RS. The RS is quite a bit taller and powerband is much higher up. I hate to admit that I miss the RX from time to time.
I've had my Street Triple R (2018) 765 for 2 years now.. In that time she has been a gem. I ride all year round.. don't just get her out for the summer. to me she is more a form of transport..... to a point. If I could fault her I find that there are corrosion issues with the kick stand springs and front master cylinder fixings. apart from that she is right on, a trusty steed and companion. I shall keep her anther year then trade her for another new Street Triple R. Thanks for the vids Flyer... Stay safe buddy
I know this video is at least 12 months old, but I wanted to comment. The black and gold does look good on a bike. Ok stepping back to 1977 as I owned one back then.Triumph had the Trident T160 750 Triple hence the Trident lol. That bike I believe was Triumphs first muscle bike. Even though the Bonneville and Trident were 750’s the Trident would leave a Bobby for dust. Around that time you had Japanese 750’s like the Honda 750/4 which were quicker off the mark, but the Trident reeled them in. Now I don’t remember all the spec for the Trident, but it was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The only bad thing it had was lousy front brakes, which didn’t like stopping from high speeds. I used to run Dunstall upswept mufflers so they didn’t scrape through cornering. Couldn’t help scraping the footpegs though lol. So this is where all the modern triples come from. I think the Trident was from 72 till 82 ( refuse to google as google doesn’t give you the heartbeat of the bike.
Fantastic bike. Did the DAS this year and got the street triple R as my first bike. The earlier TMF reviews on the bike were a deciding factor. Was not disappointed the bike is a brilliant all rounder very well mannered with a fair bit of go when you want it. I can't help but lust after a superduke or a tuono factory now but I think one of those will be an addition. Don't intend to get rid of the STR. She's a keeper.
I love my 2012 Street Triple R too. It’s my only bike. I always think that maybe I’ll trade her in for something different, then I’ll go for a ride and have so much fun on it I think I must be crazy. I have a red one. I think it looks great headlights and all. I get lots of compliments. 2013 and above to me not so great. I watched one of your first videos of it that helped convince me to go out and buy one! Thanks.
Great to have the longitudinal view as it were of a bike Triumph got so right it was difficult to improve upon. Not sure I agree on the colour scheme tho', but each to his own as it were.
A 2010 ST-R has popped up on my local Craigslist and for the money (and thanks to years of watching your vlogs) I may have to pick it up! I love your ownership updates and, yes, the bum on your bike with the twin pipes is a peach🍑, LOL! Good stuff, man! Stay safe out there!
I sold my street triple after multiple reliability issues with electrical components constantly burning out and even engine failure. Happy I bought a Suzuki now.
Sorry to pick you up on a subject. I thought TMF is as noteworthy as a Mr Roahl Dahl in Great Missenden. Great bike, same age as mine and love it to bits!!! Thanks for another great review
I am glad I finally grew up and stopped buying bikes every few years, had my ZX6 for 19 years and it only just clocked over 90, 000 klm's, tend not to ride it much now but it is nice on the occasions that I do. Done many a lap of Phillip Island on the beast when it was newish and a few trips, never want to sell it. A good bike is like a good woman, when you find one hold onto it, new models are not always better.
