Review of the Triumph Speed Triple RS which was kindly lent to me by the guys at Laguna Motorcycles - www.laguna.co.uk/
What really struck me about riding the Triumph Street Triple RS was how easy it was to ride. Everything on the street triple just made sense straight away and I felt intune with the bike very quickly. The second thing that struck me was the quality of the component parts and how it all went together. The quick shifter was a definite highlight but the brakes, throttle response and easy of handling all contributed to a very nice ride on the street triple rs.
There are different versions of the street triple available - the Street Triple S, Street Triple R and then this version - the Street Triple RS. The RS is the more expensive model however I would think the one to go for.
The only thing that lets the triumph down is the wind protection however if you’re in the market for a stripped down bike you are going to be expecting that anyway.

This is so far the only review where someone actually shows and tells what's it like to do some proper commuting with filtering. Thank you! I'm sold on this bike

Good review mate P.S. please change the GoPro position it kinda looks tilted, the chin position looks much better the viewer like me also gets to have fun with the rider It's my dream bike, so until I get it I keep on watching reviews to get the feel 😂

Cheers buddy, yeah it really is a great bike. I've been fortunate to be able to ride quite a few different bikes recently and this one does stand out. Everything on it feels premium and the ride quality is excellent. I'm wanting to chin strap the go pro however it's not been easy with my helmet. I've got a new audio set up which will hopefully fix the issues there at speed but will also mean I dont have audio plugged into the gopro which might make it a bit easier to mount at the front. Alternatively I have my eye on a new helmet which is more suited to a chin mount. So, long winded answer, but yes chin mount will be coming, hopefully soonish.

Hi, Tom! Liked this review again very much! So what are your personal thoughts now regarding the quickshifter? I mean, if you would buy a new bike, would it be something sort of "must have" for you? I've never been riding with a quickshifter, but you seem to be quite excited regarding this feature (?). I think it must be really fun for a "2h after work trip", but if you think of e.g. your "camping tour" is it still something that a new (perfect) bike has to have? The sound of the Triumph 3-zylinder engines is very "special" I would say - to be honest, I didn't like the sound of the Tiger 800 I had for 2 weeks last year (not sure if it is similar to the triple rs) but on the other hand I loved the power evolvement over the whole rpm range very very much (tiger had only something like 90hp and still it was so much fun) - and I can imagine that it was great with the triple rs (as you said). Really looking forward to what you say about the MT09 (also 3zyl.!) in comparison and/or the MT10. since the sun just came out I will now leave the office and have quick trip on the "gaberl" - a very nice road near my hometown... :-) greetings, christopher

@TommyBarnezTV 5 лет назад
Thanks Chris! Quick shifter - brilliant. It's funny as I didnt think I would be that bothered about one. I saw it as similar to flappy paddles on a car which I've had before and only used once or twice. Not only does the quick shifter change gear quicker than I could it surprisingly makes the bike more enjoyable to ride. The job of pulling the clutch in is removed however non of the experience of riding is lost. I wouldn't say it would be a must have however it would be high on my list of desires along with cruise control. I used the quick shifter for most of the ride and it felt good going around town as well as pushing it a bit on the twisties. Enjoy the ride :)

Just wondering if a powerful bike like that is (and feels) stable enough given its light weight. I generally find heavier bikes more secure and confidence inspiring on the road.
@TommyBarnezTV
@TommyBarnezTV 5 лет назад
Good question, bike felt good though and very stable. My daily bike weighs more however the weight is higher up so this actually felt more stable than what I'm used to. Someone who rides a big heavy tourer may feel different however I think they would get used to it pretty quickly. It was a couple of weeks ago that I rode this however the overall take home thoughts I have of it are that it is well put together and very confidence inspiring, if there were any feelings of instability my conclusions would be different.
@weemankyle

Will i be going on the track? Probably not, but it's nice knowing I have strong brakes with ABS to keep me safe and quality suspension to keep my stable and planted throughout my spirited back road runs. I would op for the RS as well
@TommyBarnezTV
@TommyBarnezTV 5 лет назад
I've been riding quite a few bikes recently and this one does stand out as one that is very solid and easy to ride. Having spoken to owners they all seem to say the same too so a good choice I'd say.

@@TommyBarnezTV its between this and the fz09. The 09 being cheaper obviously however all the reviews say the suspension on this bike blows away the 09. I'm gonna be financing at least half of the bike anyways might as well just make a little bit higher payments to have it already great out of the box instead of worrying about replacing the suspension on the Yamaha later down the road. I'm no pro rider by any means and having already crashed once, safety is important to me.
@TommyBarnezTV
@TommyBarnezTV 5 лет назад
@@weemankyle good bikes to choose between I think. I have a review up of the mt09 (fz09 is called an mt09 here) which I took out after the street triple. There is an sp version of the mt09 that has upgraded suspension. Ohlins I believe. I'd say take them both out and see how they feel. I personally prefer the street triple rs however I know others that prefer the mt09. Best bike for you will be the one that feels the most in tune with you. Reviews are great for giving a snapshot however you'll only know which is best when you ride them

Hi, thanks for these reviews.!! Which feels faster 0/60 this bike or the speed twin ? thanks
@TommyBarnezTV
@TommyBarnezTV 4 года назад
Good question! It's hard to remember exactly however im pretty sure the speed twin is the faster of the two however the street triple rs has a more sportier feel. Street triple rs stands out as one of the best bikes I have ridden this year because everything about it feels quality and it is seriously confidence inspiring. Speed twin is a great bike too however if I had one i would probably ride quite relaxed on it apart from the occasional blast of speed. If I had a street triple rs I would be taking it on track days within a week of getting it. Hope that helps!

@TommyBarnezTV
@TommyBarnezTV 5 лет назад
Not sure actually, depends on the rider. Personally I would think better to start off with something smaller and without quickshifter as shifting is something you'd want to become second nature when starting off. Ninja 400 could be a good bike before this, after 10k miles maybe then an upgrade...

Hard to say, would be close. My gf is 5ft 2 and interested in the street triple. She sat on one the other day and it's too tall for her so she is potentially going to look at the lower rider height option which has a seat height of 780. It's not the rs version though, it's the r.

hello sir I am thinking of this bike or the speed triple RS which one would you suggest me sir, I have been riding my Ducati Monster 821 2016 edition so about 2 years now but the longest I have ridden my monster or any other bike has been 130Kms in one day around 65 at a stretch and return journey, I do love the speed triple RS but I am a short guy only 5'5" and around 75kgs in weight little bit intimidated buy the seat height on the speed triple but I am confused which one to buy... can you give me your honest opinion as now you know I am mostly a daily commuter than a hardcore rider also I almost forgot in two years my monster has only reached 4500kms on the ODO :)

@TommyBarnezTV 4 года назад
Really really hard to say mate. Firstly I've not ridden the monster 821 or the speed triple rs yet so direct comparisons are difficult. I would say to book them for test rides and see how they feel. What is it you are wanting from a new bike? Bigger journeys? What is it about the Ducati that is stopping you going further at the moment?

@@Breaking_news temperature seemed ok to me however have you considered something like the indian scout 60? My other half is 5ft 2 and she has similar worries about weight of bikes. She is pondering the street triple r with the lowered seat height which comes out at 780mm. Once she has her license she is going to have a test ride and see what it is like however I think she will be more comfortable on something lower. She has sat on a rebel 500 which has a seat height of 690mm which she found really comfortable and manageable with the weight. I think the indian scout is the same seat height.
