My settings are: XY Lo Cut - off Comp/limiter - off Auto gain - off -> I manually set my gain to 3 (which you can do on the side of the mic. Gain is basically how loud the recording is, so play around with it until you got a decently loud recording without distortions) Input Monitor - home and rec Rec Format - WAV96kHz/24bit I don’t have an option for stereo or raw, because I might have a different software version As you can see I‘ve got most of the options turned off, which makes it easier to get a consistent sound. I also play around with the Equalizer in my editing software to make certain sounds louder, which also improves the quality. And please keep in mind that I‘m not an expert, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Just sharing what I learned so far! Hope this helped :)

@Arnd RAWs I tried it out yesterday with your settings, the sound was very good. However, wind noise took over after a certain speed. I didn't think it was going to penetrate through my side jacket pocket but it did. Also the subtle movement of the mic in my pocket would cause a noise. How do you store the mic while riding?

@@Paulito1933 i put it in the lowest outer pocket of my backpack. I also experimented with different cloths/foams around the mic to reduce windnoise. In this video, theres a layer of foam surrounding the mic, however I find that it also dampens the sound a bit. I think that the cause of your problem is mainly that the mic is in your jackets pocket, which faces forward, instead of a backpack, which faces backwards. With my setup, I could possibly have the mic without the foam around it but I have to check that when the weather is better.

@Arnd RAWs this was exactly my next trial. Lower level of a backpack pocket. I'm also thinking to 3d model and 3d print a cage that holds the mic while leaving a bit of space between the cage and mic so it doesn't rub up against surfaces. If I achieve such thing I will send you one free of charge 😉

@@Paulito1933 that‘s actually a really cool solution :D I don‘t know why, but I don‘t really have that problem, It could be because my backpack pocket is pretty tight, so it doesn‘t allow the mic to move as much. Please update me on how future tests are going!

Thanks :)) the engine is really as nice as you describe it! Would be even better unrestricted, but I have to wait a bit for that :D The sound is recorded with a separate microphone in my backpack, which is wrapped in some foam, so no dead cat :)

@@arndraws ahhh alright. for my video's i put my mic into one woollen sock and record it. Maybe you could try that to get slightly crispier audio at medium to high revs.

I was using an ND16 filter for this video. I only use the 32 when it‘s really sunny :)

@@arndraws You've really got it down with the footage! I just came back from a ride testing our the same settings as you describe with my GoPro 10. Going to buy the Zoom H2N with your link in a bit...captures sound beautifully! One last question, I'm assuming you have your GoPro mounted on a chest strap rather than your helmet? I'm trying to capture the arms and a bit of the tank.

@@Paulito1933 really appreciate the feedback :) It took a lot of trial and error to get the settings down, but keep in mind that I do a bit of colour correction when I edit my videos, so it might not look exactly the same :D Also don‘t feel pressured to buy the H2N through my link, as I‘m currently not even making money through it (I have yet to get accepted into the program and I‘m contemplating if it‘s even worth to do) I got my H2N significantly cheaper through ebay :) My GoPro is mounted on my helmet below my chin :) It‘s hanging quite low but i quite like this angle

Video looks amazing! Still a bit much windnoise but otherwise the sound is great too :) you could try putting a sock or some foam over the mic, a different position could also help. Keep on getting better! I‘m also trying different things every video, thats the fun part :D

@@arndraws Yeah I just saw your most recent post, and they keep getting better. The backpack I used for yesterdays ride is to breathable. I'm planning on buying the Dainese hard shell back pack, I'm thinking maybe with that it won't pickup as much wind noise. Also playing around with Adobe Premiere Pro audio effects. This most recent video I used fx: mastering, lowpass, highpass, bass, automatic click remover. Just kept adjusting them until it sounded decent. For color I just ran through the presets and chose one called SL BIG.

@@Paulito1933 a hard shell backpack could also dampen the sound a lot tho, but you don‘t know until you try it out :D I think that a bit of wind is still getting through on the bottom of my backpack, so i‘ll try puting a sock there and see what happens. For the colour I basically only change saturation, contrast, sharpness and brightness, so I‘m doing it freestyle haha And for the sound I play around with the Equalizer and pick what sounds good

@@arndraws Good point and thanks for the editing advise, I will try that out on some other footage this evening. I planned on buying that backpack for longer trips but I was hoping that with it's hard shell and aerodynamic design, the wind will flow over the top without breaking against the material as a standard backpack. Also the back facing side of the backpack is not hard shell so perhaps that side can capture sound quality. Only one way to find out! Trial and error!

@@Luca-my2ro I‘ll do an updated version of my Soundcheck video soon, mabye that would help too, because the sound changed a lot after the exhaust got a bit of kilometers. I don‘t know what the scorpion exhaust sounds like, but I can assure you that you wouldn‘t be disappointed with the SC Project! Even with both db killers and the cat installed, it’s really loud and sounds great.

Only have a private one at the moment :/ maybe I‘ll make one in the future tho
