I have a jack that I was given and was a bit hesitant to use due to the tip over possibility so this was great to watch . I’ve had great success with my lift jack, my parking spot is tiny and the front wheel has to poke into the corner with no way to turn to get back out again. I modified the lift jack by taking off the static wheels and installed castors. So with four moving castors, one at each corner I can spin the bike round on the spot.
looks like a great tool for any bike with which it can be used. i am sort of browsing for ideas for making my own for mid-sized scooter maintenace. this was a good reference for ideas, thanks
Stuart, I have a similar but different brand jack. It operates the same though. I find it indispensable for working on the bike. I also use it for washing and waxing the bike. This allows me to sit on a stool instead of kneeling on the ground. Great info. Thank you.

Man, I needed that video. I’m struggling with deciding what to purchase. Harbor freight has a full-size stand that I’d like to buy for $500. But, it doesn’t allow the wheels to turn. It does Jack the bike up to your waist height. I can see how the stand that you used here can be very handy. Thanks so much
For riding my "06 Thruxton I decided that a centerstand was going to be an essential addition. I suggest that for any bike with spoked wheels/tubed tires (tyres?) you need the centerstand in order to repair a roadside flat.
Hi Stuart. I've been using an older version to hoist my old Tour Glide for years.....no problems and a great piece of kit, as long as you engage some common sense. The only thing I've found, the machine is more stable if the lift controls are under the side stand side of the bike. Don't know why but it is, trust me! Another very useful video, thank you.
Can't you put 2 pieces of wood, or brick, or something under the wheels (like the ones under the sidestand), so that it is higher from the ground? Then you can get the rails under it.

Hi Stuart , great vid, must say I have had a jack like that for many years to lift my xr1200 which I use to own. Up date on my front wheel it has been renewed like the 2017 models, just need to ride it. Keep up the vids as they are really good. Safe riding!
Thank you David, glad you have got your bike Brakes sorted out. I still haven't heard anything from them good old Triumph service! might look in to it but there a possibility i may be changing the t120 wheels and upgrading to Brembo brakes, so not going to do anything just yet!
There is also a trick to doing the wheels that swivel. You don't do them with your hands, lift it up then move it forward or backward to turn the swivel. Use the ground as a hand that handles both at the same time. If that makes sense.
Good review. Question: when using the Jack can you access the oil filter and drain plug or would you recommend using the center stand for old changes ? From across the pond, Tucson Jack. Peace.

Thanks very much for the video. I've been a little bewildered looking at all the lifts available. Many not being very clear how they fit and sometimes needing optional extras. Did you find that the extra 1ft in height was worth it?
Noble Sir, that was very informative. May I observe, though, that the geometry of the swivel castors would appear to give you a little more height advantage if positioned flat side down. Would that give you enough to deploy the frame rail cups? If still not quite enough, how about running the front wheel up onto say a 25mm thick plank of wood, before introducing the lift. Hi Dave, i have managed in the past with a centre stand, but there are some jobs you just cant do even with a centre stand! in the end i got a bit fed up of messing around with blocks of wood etc and the t100 gave me the excuse i needed to get a proper lift. easier on your back too!
Hi Stewart, I just bought a similar jack, without the holes for the frame holders tho. What I've noticed is that to have the bike (Scrambler 2010) reasonably stable, I had to lift it picking it up exactly under the oil filter (which now have a bit of a flat...head!). Looking at your video you seems to lift it up in the exact way I did: did the lift interfere with the oil filter at all? Cheers, love your vids

Hi Stuart, thanks for this and all your other really informative videos. I haven't got a bike yet and have never had one but I intend to get a T-120 in the coming months. It would seem to me that another essential tool is a torque wrench. They also come in at a wide price range and I suppose a wide quality range too. I have been looking at some and the Gerode brand seem to be top quality and not too expensive, although, again, there are much cheaper ones around. Would you recommend any particular brand. Also, as you have been working on your bike for a while now, do you know what torque range would be required for most jobs on the T-120 ? Thanks again, Ian
Thank you very much sir, I use a sealey torque wrench actually i cant remember the model number but it has a torque range from 07nm to 112nm with a 3/8 drive. it came out very highly regarded in my research. and wasn't very expensive, under £40 i think, feels quality and hasn't let me down yet!
For the life of me outside of dirt bike I don't understand why anybody persists with dirty messy dangerous chain drive shaft drive is the way to go and if you can't go that way then at least you can go belt drive they're clean the long-lasting their economical and if they break they don't go through the side of your crankcase like a chain done replacing a belt cost no more than an endless chain if you are a heavy mileage type of Rider if you add up what it cost for a front sprocket rear sprocket and a chain for two sets every 20,000 miles plus Lube Plus cleaning plus everything you have to do to it unless your eraser on the track or a dirt biker in the dirt change simply have no place on motorcycles anymore
Thank you steward for your quick reply, I do have a paddock but I was looking to get the bike as high as I could to clean and polish the lower parts of the bike more easily, getting down on the floor is not an option for me at 79 years so I was looking for an alternative, to get the RE up as high as I could , well thank you and keep the Vids coming with Respect Bryan Medway

I think it would be better working from the left side of the bike so that when you lower the jack you are tilting the bike towards you onto the side stand rather than leaning it away from you onto the side stand
I had to take my center stand off because I installed drag pipes but I put it on everytime I have to do the maintenance on it then just take it off again.
Another excellent video Stuart, thanks, I don't know how you keep putting them out. I've struggled with the T'Bird using a car jack under the rear suspension unit with the side stand, in order to clean/adjust the chain. A real pain, and I have thought of buying a jack like the one here however I still conclude I'd be best off buying a new centre stand for the sheer convenience of having it with me wherever I happen to go! Not as good for major maintenance but I don't have any heavy work planned...

Stuart is this sealy jack suitable for the Royal Enfield 650cc Interceptor, I know you hae one so I assume it is please can you verify that it is suitable as no comment was mentioned about the R E , I was concerned that the centre stand may be a bit of a problem, incidently I save all your recording as I do find them very very helpful with Respect Bryan Medway
Hi Bryan I'm not actually sure to be honest. I got the jack a couple of years ago and have not had cause to try it as yet. A paddock stand is a good alternative depending on what you actually want to do, and the interceptor does have m8 lugs to accept bobbins. I hope that helps.

Not on the jack Ron, no! just put a piece of wood under the side stand to make the bike more upright, before draining the oil, low tech but works like a charm!
Stuart, just returning to this video, a couple of questions: after a few years, are you still satisfied with the MC4500? And how many tie-down straps do you use. I’m close to ordering but an update from you would be valuable, thanks for your time.
Hi Stuart, I appreciate this is quite an old offering, but I had a simple question about using the scissor jack. I know you found a sweet spot for placing the jack on the T120 frame. My question is, "would a sump guard still allow the use of the jack?"
Hello, I know this is an old video, but maybe you can find the kindness in your heart to answer. How does this bike fit on this lift? The lift is 36 cm wide. The distance between the oil filter and the front of the bike is only 30 cm. Are you sure that it fits and does not lean on the oil filter? Because I want to buy this one for changing my oil filter. (Maybe my Bonneville 2001 has different dimensions?) Thank you for the nice videos and greetings from a Dutchman in Germany!
