I feel like only way a person can beat magnus in like world cup final is by playing a opening magnus never thinks about it at that stage LIKE MAYBE A BONG CLOUD or the whale why would u study such garbage opening nobody would play that at the higher stages and boom u get shocked
@@ranjanasharan4051 but Duda beat magnus in the world cup semi-final by playing the Sicillian. Magnus was only able to get away with 1.f3 here because it was a rapid game. If this was a classical game Duda would have enough time to calculate the best response and Magnus would struggle to draw. Bongcloud is like -3, so if you play it in classical chess at Super GM level you might as well resign. It's only playable in blitz when your opponent doesn't have the time to calculate. The world cup is classical chess, so playing something idiotic like The Whale is suicidal.
I enjoy playing ridiculous garbage in the opening when I get matched up with a titled player in an arena then turning on stockfish and going "sairama mode" and it's so pathetic how they can't counter my really obvious positional ideas, best is when they're lost and you taunt them by copy pasting Stockfishes best lines for them and saying "considering this?" it's hopeless because in the end my bishop is covering A3 but sure keep playing...

With any competitive career, and really any career in general that people can do for 10+ years, burnout happens. It's really less of a chess thing and more of a life thing, but yeah, Magnus could definitely be feeling that.
It's probably not easy to renew your motivation time and time again when you've won everything there is to win - and you've done so for the past 10 years.
I was thinking the opposite. He's not relying on a basic Ruy Lopez/QGD approach to every game in these tournaments that matter, but don't really matter. Looks like he's trying to have some fun, throw a bunch of things out there that his opponents haven't seen, and because Magnus plays it he knows other players will start doing it. Plus, Magnus knows his opponents are going to be ready for him in most standard lines so he's throwing out unstandard lines so they can all just play chess.
@@jasonkoch3182 agreed these guys are so good if he played anything standard they would be playing all top moves until someone branched out anyway. So why not branch move one so they can actually have fun and see who's better at actual chess not who can remember all the computer lines. I respect him for being bold enough to try.

14:25 as an Indian, India is a very diverse place with different cultures in many states, That having been said, in North India, chicken is probably most popular and in South India, it's probably fish and in areas where the majority is muslim it may be lamb.
The Jorden king walk is what Stockfish does every time in similar positions. At least two of the AI games you detailed had that same or similar king move.
The beauty of Magnus playing those openings is that he understands that it is worse for him if their opponents play perfectly, which is almost never true, even more when it is a rapid game. No one prepares to play against a bad opening, so they misplay it and Magnus takes the advantage.
Magnus playing that opening move is just proof of how much of an advantage white has over black by going first. Essentially it's like having an extra move so I think Magnus does this to try to even the odds or he's just really bored and wants a good chuckle lol
There might be the idea behind f3 of forcing black out of preparation and confuse them then banking on the fact that you can iut calculate your opponent to a winning position

14:02 when he said to pause and find the move, I found the move rook d1 to g1. if black takes queen then rook g6 to g7 check, if king goes to corner then horse delivers checkmate. if king goes to h6 then rook g1 to g6 check , king only move to h5 and spicy move rook g7 to h7 checkmate. (horse guards other rook).

It has to be mentioned Magnus was sick as a dog (to the extent I wonder how he was able to play chess). He gave a 30s interview after the last game against Liem and it was obvious he had the flu or a serious cold. Still a nice victory but against a pretty diminished world champ.

Watching your videos as a 1300 is pure pain since I understand simple concepts but not complex ones so I always think these players didn't see a certain move and then pause just to get reminded after 5 min evaluation that those guys are literally gods and I slap myself in the face for thinking I've had a better idea

11:11 I think stockfish hates it because there is no white rook on the side of the black king but there is a black rook on the side of the white king. I'm guessing it sees white as more vulnerable here.

20-30 percent of a population being vegetarian is honestly super high. I imagine most Western countries only have a couple percent at most (especially in the US where meat is super cheap)

Magnus very often played that f3 opening few (3-5) years ago, I think it was his own variation of the "grob", yet he stopped all of a sudden, I guess it's because he found a losing line he couldn't avoid but he knows it's so uncommon that most opponents, even GMs, won't have worked their response to the f3 oppening and the counter is hard enough to be figured out playing.
In 27'40" I thought black could play b×h4 or k×h4 looking for a discovery check, but of course it's all calculated, If b×h4 then Q×h4 and if k×h4 then Q×f8. The thing is that black has no threads only because every white piece is on the perfect but if a non GM played a single bad move with white he would probably get crushed anyways.
